Need Help - Crying Won't Stop From Oxycodone Withdrawal (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I am scripted oxycodone 5mg 3x day, but for the past 2 months I started taking 80-90mg a day. Last Sunday I decided I needed to stop and taper so I had to drop from 90mg to 10mg a day. It has been 6 days. I can't stop crying. I am hopeless. I don't know if I should just stop the 10mgs or if I should keep tapering down. I don't know why I started taking so much, but I do need it for pain and I do have someone that can monitor the administration of it to me. My question is...when will this end? The crying, depression, vomiting, diarrhea, hopelessness. Do I keep taking the 10mg and taper down to 5mg or am I going to continue to go through this mental and physical hell. Please help. I am on an antidepressant and a very low dosage of clonazepam .25mg at bedtime but just feel absolutely like I will never feel normal or hopeful again. I only was taking the 80-90mgs for 2 months, but when will this end? I'm on day 6 of just 10mgs and if I don't take the 10mg today, do I start the withdrawal process all over again?

Your withdrawals if u completely stop shouldn't last more then 2 weeks. It also depends If you're taking meds to help your withdrawal. Detail me some.

20 mgs of clonazepam? What? Rethink that amount. Maybe 2 mgs at bedtime.

You shouldn't have to go through that. It's our Government showing it's love. I hate them all. My heart breaks for those worse off than me and I have it pretty bad. The power should be given to the people. They don't know what's best for me. Pain yes I agree more people are on them, but take away cars. Cars make it easier to deal with traveling, paIn meds make it easier to deal with pain.

Back in the mid 70s when methadone centers started dispensing methadone if you were trying to get on methadone and you told them you had a hydrocodone habit they would've laughed at you and told you to go home, kick your pill habit on your own. Back then you had to have a strong opiate habit to get on the program. But today they know hydrocodone is every bit as strong as morphine. If you can get some Ativan for a couple of days you'll be fine with your hydrocodone habit.

I Have to say you are totally correct. This drug should be used for all W.D. It has helped me more than once. I don't think doctors even know how well calapentin works. Thanks for getting the word out there so people will know

That is too steep a drop over a very aggressively timeframe. I would sooner see you drop by 10 mgs / week for 8 weeks and then remiain on 10 mgs for four weeks. It's good that you have introduced clonazepam but your current dosage is far too low. You should increase in to 20 mgs at beftime, once daily until it builds in your bloodstream and levels out your mood and alters the brains chemistry to take you out of depression. Get your lithium levels checked as I would assume you will need 600 mgs at beftime as well.Have your lithium levels checked every three months.

The introduction of Oxycodone was a major mistake. Although you may feel relief from your pain the dependence increases requiring an increase in the drug to maintain your pain management.

This is for you PJ....I have been in severe pain for 25 years!! I have had 3 levels of my neck fused, 4 levels in my back fused, 2 tumors and thyroid removed from my neck, kidney cancer and was hooked on Oxycontin for 5 years. So, I am highly qualified PJ and I stick to comment since you have the reading comprehension of an 8th grader. You DO NOT take 6X the prescribed dosage of pain pills and expect to live a long prosperous life!!

Sorry TimTim or PJ or whoever you are? Sorry for you that is! I understand the truth hurts when you are addicted and sometimes it is best to hit the problem head on. Call me all the names in the book, I'm just like that parent and child, where the child is screaming I HATE YOU DAD!! Sugar coat it all you want and that's how people wind up dead. Have a great day and I'm not returning to this post so say what you will.....

You do realize suboxone is an opioid and much more difficult to detox from than an opiate.
What is your education or certification on substance abuse and addiction?
Do you understand the difference between addiction and dependance?

If you are only taking 10mg a day. Stop all at once. You will only be sick for about 4or 5 days and it's over baby. But you want be able to stop thinking about how good it felt for a long time. That is the hard part not to start it all over again. So just stop and be sick a few days. It's really no big deal

Taper relax. If you’re getting scripted for your pain, sometimes we all go overboard. If your situation turns into where you are also going on the street to buy it, then be more worried that’s not good. Now I don’t know what type of pain you have or what’s wrong with you but I would continue taking your medication OK and what I recommend is don’t take so many and you don’t have to take exactly what is prescribed, but to help your withdrawals it will be better to remain on a lower dosage. Now if you cannot stand not feeling the euphoria then you can try the cold turkey thing. While you’re going cold turkey to help with withdrawals, what I would do is go to get a prescription for some Codeine since it’s not like hydrocodone, it’s very slow released & it will help with some of your withdrawals but don’t take like millions of them and f*** up your liver either just to take the edge off. Also, you can switch to or ask your doctor to give you something like Darvocet which is a methadone derivative that is a narcotic that is weak which will not make you feel as euphoric as the oxycodone but it has tremendous help on withdrawals.

Withdrawals suck, yes, they last for two weeks. & yes you have panic attacks, anxiety, vomiting, etc... There is a place in Tampa Florida that does ultra rapid detox. I had it done. I mean I don’t know, I don’t really believe that it works super well. I mean after the 24 hour detox I still had withdrawal for two weeks but they give you medications and stuff - a lot to help with your withdrawal symptoms whether they are diarrhea or vomiting. They also recommend you a diet and everything. It costs like $10,000. They put you to sleep for over 24 hours and they supposedly reset your opiate receptors. I mean you can do that or go to like some place for like weeks and months but I’ll tell you what, you know I did the ultra rapid detox, it was hard, but it was better than sitting in a rehab for a long time. Also, mind you that while I was going through my withdrawals the doctor prescribed me Adderall which worked very well. The Adderall gives you the energy like the opiates and you don’t crave any opiates. The Adderall works lovely so if you’re going to do that if you come to that point you really want to quit taking the drugs obviously. And after you live through the 24 hours and the two weeks, you’re going to despise the drugs.

LMAO! Ativan? You serious?
Ativan sucks.
And it does not help much when you’re popping 100 pills a day for a long time.
