Need Help Treating Recurring Daily Pain

Hi there. My name is Jacob. I'm a 21 year old male that is from West Virginia. I'm seeking some help or any information on how to get myself some help with my constant struggle with pains. I'm very sorry to bother but I'm not sure what to do. I've been in severe pain since a car wreck I was in last year when another driver cut my fiancé and I off on a 3 lane wide road and we hit broad side at 50mph. My fiancé was severely injured in the wreck with bad swelling in the head and face area and my right inner hip, lower back, and my shoulder up closer to the right side of my neck. I was admitted to the ER in Belpre, OH and was treated like I was faking it or whatever they may have thought because I wasn't brought by ambulance. My brother had to drive me because I could barely stand. I now awake every single day with a deep inner pain in my hip and can barely even turn my head for at least 25-30 min every morning.

I've tried everything from ibuprofen 800mg to tramadol and nothing I take can even touch the pain level I have daily. It isn't even faded enough to not feel sick to my belly from the constant discomfort. If I'm not mistaken my pain level daily is affecting my food intake, and affecting how I am as a person. Enough pain can make anyone unhappy. All the doctors around my area here in Parkersburg, WV have been useless because they automatically think I'm just an addict when they haven't even tried to listen to me. I have thought about it hard on what to do and this is my only solution. Please give me a solution to my problem. I am a retired veteran after serving 4 years in the Untied States Army as a 12 N. never thought that people in this area don't care and just think everyone they see is an addict. I can only hope this isn't another pointless try. Hope to hear back from you as soon as you can get time to read this. Thank you.

Hello, Jacob! How are you? Thank you, so very much for your service.

As to getting help with your pain, I think the best thing to do would be to see a pain management specialist. Sometimes, doctor's that don't specialize in treating pain don't understand how miserable someone can really be due to such injuries. It isn't that they mean to be heartless and cruel, they just haven't had the same type of specialty training to recognize the signs and monitor someone that needs pain control.

It is similar to when a doctor doesn't recognize certain issues as being side effects of a medication. They are just not as highly trained in such details as pharmacists, and researchers. Thus, if you aren't sure if you may be experiencing side effects, the best person to ask would be your pharmacist, or someone on a site like this one that is look at all the details to try to help you. Then you can go to your doctor fully informed to discuss any issues.

Of course, you should never make any changes, without your doctor's approval, but in reality, when it comes to learning about stuff, you are your own best advocate.

What other medications have you tried, other than the Tramadol and Ibuprofen?

The FDA warns that some carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
