I need help finding a new PM doctor in Maryland that will prescribe ongoing opiates. I have fibromyalgia and 2 herniated discs with left & right leg radiculopathy. I am currently taking Cymbalta 60mg, Percocet 10/325 (which barely helps and was just reduced to bid) and Gabapentin 300mg bid (which I'm coming off of bcuz of severe anxiety and mood swings). I was changed from Lyrica bcuz although it was helping with the pain it made me feel awful. My PM doctor had given me 3 steroid injections with each helping less than the first and now she trying to wean me off the Percocet bcuz she states I have been taking it for a year and the treatment plan has not helped. I am looking for a Dr in MD that will continue to prescribe my opioids and hopefully include a long-acting opioid into my treatment without trying to send me for back surgery. I am reluctant to have the surgery bcuz bring a nurse for 18yrs I have seen too many instances where the surgery for not help or made things worse. I used to be very active and I am a mother of four boys. I would just like to find a doctor that will prescribe my meds so that I can get my quality of life back as my chronic debilitating pain is causing severe depression. My conditions are well documented as my neurologist ran at least 6 evaluations on me before referring me to PM. I also have MRIs and xray results to document my condition. Thanks in advance.

The only opiate you've listed is the Percocet. (NDC 16590-618 for more details.) It contains Oxycodone coupled with Acetaminophen and you are currently on the highest dose that it available.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, and constipation. What did your doctor suggest replacing it with?

However, neither Cymbalta (NDC 0002-3235), nor Gabapentin (NDC 0093-1039) are in the opioid class. While they can help with certain types of nerve pain, the FDA classifies Cymbalta as an antidepressant and Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant.

Can anyone suggest a doctor in MD that might be able to help more? I haven't been back east for years, so I am afraid I can't help find one.
