Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 2)

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

I've seen this woman TWICE! AND I never said I was getting meds Feom different docs at the same time. She may have put a "note" in my file thinking it was gonna do something but I am very proactive in my care. I know my physician what they prescribed and when and side affects. I would never ask this place for a recommendation of another doc but she did have to five me my referral. And no I don't have to be put on the same meds, in this case hydro's, I want and deserve adequate care. Give me something to curve the withdrawals or tell me something that will help. And YES I have reported said clinic. I've done water therapy, massage, walking, adjusting my food intake/gluten free, taken meds hydro and tramadol (sometimes at the same time per doc) percocets, gabapentin, nueroton etc. Every doc I've seen for my pain I ask for it to be MANAGED and not just given another pill. That's all these docs wanna do now. MY ISSUE is if you're gonna discontinue part of my care for my pain give me something since I've been on this med for well over 15 years and referred me to a pain management physician, I can find a different primary care person! My physician who diagnosed kem15 years who retired. The initial doctor I had at this clinic retired and the new doctor (I've seen twice) decided not to refill (meaning giving me another script) YES if I want a referral they HAVE to give me one ex. Rheumatologist, pain doctor gastrointestinal physician and PAIN DOCTOR. Since you can not into one without a recommendation. Whatever meds the previous physician gave me they aren't supposed to change until they go thru testing. She sure didn't take me off blood pressure meds and since losing weight that's been fine.
What the problem is that since all these individuals have been abusing these type of medications it makes it difficult for the ones like me who don't abuse it. And you can not JUDGE someone's pain level with just looking them or seeing they're a younger age than who you prescribe meds for, that a BIAS OR PREJUDICE OF AGE. And I asked a different physician if that was ethical or not and they said NO!

Well, you may need to go to a pain clinic. Take your pain history meds list, old bottles, drug store list of scripts (if they will give it to you) and any mri reports with the disc if you have it. Verification is key and once you start getting your needed meds do not keep changing things. The clinics like things smooth and easy.... I had a friend that kept trying to change things and they are on their at least 4th clinic and they have not seen them for meds yet ---- but my clinic told me last visit that it is a good thing i am not on xanax because you can have pain meds or xanax type meds but not both?

It is doubtful you will be able to find a doctor that will prescribe the meds you have been on. You do need a copy of your medical records from your previous doctor to prove you have a diagnosed medical conditions that may require opiates.

I need to find a doctor in Lincoln Ne for chronic back pain, fibromyalgia and neuropathy. I had to jump thru hoops just to get tramadol from my gp and it does not help! Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated!

Please though do NOT take more tramadol than prescribed, even though people say they do it all the time. Like if someone tells you "oh, take 5 or 6 (or however many they want) and you'll be feeling better, I do it all the time and I'm fine." Maybe they are, not counting liver damage, but it can be habit forming and it can make you have grand mal seizures. I have seen this with my own eyes to a very good friend. Thankfully he is fine now but it was scary as hell. Please be careful with your meds people. Especially all you people out there who abuse your meds and make it harder for people like my husband (who actually lives with chronic pain every day of his life) to get the pain medicine he so desperately needs to actually function and do the things with his family that he enjoys doing. Otherwise he'd be in so much pain he would just have to lay in bed all day miserable.

Nicki, have you seen a psychiatrist ? Anxiety is a mental condition. Psychiatrists treat mental conditions.

yes, i actually live here and need a doctor who will write benzos, i have anxiety and cant find a doctor who will write anything but buspar which is a joke, or worse hydroxazine.

I have plenty of records. Several surgeries on knees,spine, shoulder and MRIs over the last 3 years. Thanks for the info. I will check it out right away. Thank u Jasmine

Did you have a pain management doctor in Florida. The city of San Jose has shut down most of the clinics that had doctors prescribing morphine.
Most pain management clinic now insist on injections of steroids and therapy.

There is a pain management clinic in Redwood City and a doctor Date but she needs records and is very cautious. You have to sign a contract and give urine.

As for any rules in Ohio they are the worst city for opiate over doses so it would be very hard to find a doctor who will fill opiates. It has been on tv and on line.

I would advise doing a web search for your area. If no internet, check the yellow pages. Your surgeon should have given you a list of options. Don't put it off. Some areas take 3-4 months to get in. Good luck.

you should have started calling around when you got there if they are like ohio it may take 3 months to get an appt and er can only do 5 day supply and family doctors only a week without filling out a bunch of extra paperwork
