Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 14)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

Dr Dave, Effective August 18, 2014, Tramadol became a Schedule IV Federally and remains Schedule IV. The link is below.

BL,

It is a 2. It should be across the board in all states.

When HC became a 2 it took almost 18 months for all states to come to compliance.

Posters,

I will not be on here at all soon, death will occur if I am not given proper medical care post haste.

Again Ultram is a mixed agonist antagonist.

A smart poster wrote about withdrawal; if you are on opioids such as oxycodone, morphine, which are agonists you will go into withdrawal if you take this piss poor drug.

If you have cardiac issues, neuro issues, and are on AD's it will lift your seizure threshold and you will seize.

I see too many people attempting to decrease from a powerful drug such as I am on and decreased too rapidly putting my last labs into CRF and STILL no help with physicians I run across opting to have no BALLS rather then see medical necessity, you will NOT have help with withdrawal it will worsen.

Ultram was created for doctor shopping, drug happy people who might be addicts.

I totally agree. Stay away from writing for or to taking it! Even MDs don't raze tat the psych meds their parents don't think relevant [Prozac, Effexor-XR, Tofranil, et. al.] don't emptied to the IM or PCP. The prescriber of Ultram isn't even at at fault, unless he has the time to ask me ALL MY MEDS in the 10 minutes (maybe 15) allotted for me to tell him I need Tylenol #4 or Vicodin. Rather than provoking a down-home medical debate (more like a dogfight), he switches to Ultram. WE really need to have our front desk personnel to review previous meds listed and asking if there aren't changes. We starting to do this with my practice. One woes with are money than brains said she'd refuse to disclose except to a MD. I told her she was sealing for an RN, MSN, NP and for interrupting a session, she wins a "drop from practice letter." The N knows me and had hit all ready for my signature.

Cupcake,

What disorders do you have that necessitate pain medication; acute or chronic pain?

It sounds as if you have someone writing you medication; with the FDA 120 mg. morphine equivalent rule you might want to share more details.

Posters,

Ultram has so many dangers (high seizure threshold, contraindicated in the elderly, cardiac, and lung deficiencies) along with the mixed antagonist/agonist properties I would strongly suggest against it's use.

The nurse told me she had done 100 blood draws. After reading P450's way to draw blood the nurse in training was doing it all wrong. The needle went straight in. I never feel my blood tests but this day it was so painful. She kept moving the needle back and forth. When the usual guy came in it was so easy. They use very small needles. It is a Lab Corp facility.

I had a phlebotomist in a doctor's office destroy my vein in my right arm. It hurt like hell and four years later I still have a hard lump. First it was the size of a small potato and now it is the size of a plum. It swells up when I lift and that vein cannot be used any more. I sent the doctor a letter complaining and he ignored me. My doctor said it would heal but it is taking way too long.

As for Jerry Brown now he passes a bill letting people have the right to die. As for pain patients he could care less. He is certainly on the payroll. I cannot even look at him.

I use Yelp when I get burned. It makes me feel better.

Jasmine, my dear —

Insist on a LICENSED PHLEBOTOMIST. That's what they do. I only let a 1st year Interim Medicine resident practice on my one and we were very strongly attracted to each other. Still didn't do a good job and after about 40 minutes, I said, "Nothing personal, but as an Internist, unless you plan to sub-specialize, you need co-develop those skills; I hook you up with the best 'blood-drawer' I know. For now. let me page a Phlebotomist. They are THE BEST, although some experienced, RNs, NPs and even a few of us MDs are equal in prowess. I'm good with SC, IM, but I'll only do an IV if I'm the last doc standing.....hope this helps. Or, ask for the CHEIF RESIDENT of that Medical Surgical, GYN, PSYm etc, floor. The kid didn't hurt me, but it def cemented our smoldering "friendship". We both were over 21.

Jasmine,

Since I was out there the past 5 years back and forth according to what I heard he made a lot of points suing major drug manufacturers even on simple things like diabetic medication.

As you know he ran raids on pharmacies out there which generally if they are pain pharmacies shut down when they are empty for the month since they are only allowed to use one wholesaler per pharmacy.

He is the reason 80 mg Oxycontin left pharmacies there first further he made it impossible for those tolerant to get relief and they had nowhere to go unless they went out of state.

Anytime someone blew two farts instead of one a pharmacy raid would occur. Between the money being made to keep him OUT of drug manufacturing companies (kicks) and protection for those who needed to stay open I'd say he earned it with green that was not his and never will be.

He is an evil vindictive individual and not a friend to those in pain so I do agree sister.

No nurse should ever twist a stick in your vein. First of all a gentle tap if we are going in for a regular sample and say it's in your antecube (inner aspect of the anterior elbow area) if it's someone like you I'm going to (depending on how many tubes I want drawn) pop it up either with a latex wrap and then come in at an angle likely using a 1.5 inch 25 gauge and if this stupid place only carries 20's and 22's no one should be drawing blood. In more severe cases we can always pump with a tiny butterfly may take longer but you don't get blown and phlebitis.

I am usually suit and tie nurse but pride myself on knowing more then those who work for me I have no problem getting nurse hence the beautiful Nordstrom dress and heels do well with a white lab coat which I wear the long ones can be bleached and ironed when body fluids hit the fan so to speak. If that nurse was new and doing a first stick then someone should have watched and guided her; if that was not the case do NOT offer your arm again ok sweetie?
