Naltrexone Addiction
(Newest replies first)

naltrexone was prescribed following detox from opiate addiction......I'm trying to get off the naltrexone but I start having "withdrawal".....muscle pain, nausea...when I stop taking the naltrexone.....I've been opiate free for months.....why is this happening? everything I've read says that naltrexone is not physically addictive, but I'm starting to wonder......has anyone had this problem with naltrexone?

Yes I know drug addicts love to get their drug of choice from the pharmacy covered by insurance, yes everyone loves Suboxone until they try to get off of it. Good luck

Naltrexone is NOT suboxone lol
Seriously??
I know that low-dose naltrexone is almost a different medication from the regular 50 mg of naltrexone, but I’ve been taking low-dose naltrexone since March 2020 and when I don’t take it I don’t have any side effects at all, it’s just that my symptoms I am treating with it come back after a couple days.
You should talk to the Doctor Who prescribed it I’ve never heard of anyone having withdrawals from stopping naltrexone. It’s an opioid blocker I’m not really sure what your body would get addicted to in the first place.
i slightly remember this. I think the doc used aspirin 800mg and
IMODIUM® A-D (Loperamide Hcl ) prescription strength for a few days. the stiffness reminds me. this was a long time ago. best of luck

Suboxone is replacing one opiate with another. I hope you can get off of it.
a friend of mine had the naltrexone implant about 4 days ago to help stop using opiates, he did the 7 days detox prior to the implant and now he has trouble sleeping and feels very restless . is there anything he do to help him sleep ???
Verwon: I've had an English muffin everyday for 6 months. If I don't have one tomorrow do you think I will experience withdrawal?
Have any of you heard of or tried suboxone? It is a life saver! Its mainly used to treat drug addicts, more specifically , all of the million opiate lovers in the world. I have been on it for 5 years. before i got on the suboxone i was almost in my grave and didnt see how close i was to the coffin being closed. If i had time released oxys they were 80 mgs and in one day i couldnt imagine taking less than 7. If it was immed release oxycodones i usually had 20 mgs and s***, id easily eat 30 in a day. And vicodin and darvocet or tylenol 3s? S*** i was ' allergic" to those meds. Only because they didnt do s*** for my high anymore, i was waaaay past that.
Your body can become dependent on anything that you take for a long period of time, because it gets used to having that substance.
This means that a sudden cessation may result in some withdrawal effects, though they aren't usually as severe as the withdrawals from an actual addiction.
Have you consulted your doctor for assistance?
