My Viibryd Story 41 Y.o. F

I started my Viibryd starter pack on 8/6/13. Got through the 10mg pills with no big problem. Started the 20mg pills and noticed some increased energy along with some sore joints (ankles for me). Was on the 40mg pills for almost 1 week and went to see my doctor for a check up to see how I was doing. The doctor noticed the increased amount of acne on my face and chest and told me I should be using a more gentle body wash on my face and chest - I never had painful acne before this time. I didn't have much to tell him about how I felt on the 40mg of Viibryd - I told him maybe I need to be on it longer to trully see how I feel. I had been a little grumpy at times, but just thought that was me. Well, by the weekend following my Dr's appt. I fell asleep on Saturday night and forgot to take my Viibryd. The next day I was so mean and nasty in a complete RAGE toward my husband I couldn't believe that was me. I quickly split a pill and took 20mg trying to even myself out. It didn't work for me. The last 5 days have been horrible. Racing heart rate and severe anxiety - enough to scare me off of Viiibryd for good. I am able to somewhat deal with all the anxiety by taking .25mg Klonopin I am prescribed. I am in communication with my doctor and I have been tapering off the Viibryd now for the past 3 days. I am also experiencing not being hungry at all, stomach pains, and when I do have a BM it is pure liquid. Currently taking 20mg of Viibryd along with 10mg of Lexapro for 4 more nights then off Viibryd completely and onto 20mg of Lexapro daily. Hoping everything returns back to normal at that time. I don't know how much more I can take. I had been on Lexapro for years just wasn't experiencing all that much energy. That is why my doctor put me on Viibryd. Waking up after having a restless night from the vivid and horrible dreams along with dilated pupils and my heart racing is not the energy I was looking for. I know medication effects everyone differently, but Viibryd is not for me. I was not willing to continue on the Viibryd and see what it was going to end up turning me into. Hoping this may help anyone who is experiencing the same problems/side effects I have had. God Bless all of us poor souls who struggle with depression and/or any mental/emotional disorder. Stay STRONG!! That's all we can do.

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience on here for others.

I am very sorry about the issues you had on this medication.

Have you tried any others, or just the Viibryd and Lexapro?

What type of doctor are you working with, it is a GP or a specialist?
