My Methadone Clinic Banned Pills - Stuck On Liquid
UpdatedHello everyone. I'm from San Diego, CA. I've been on Methadone for 3.5 years now. I'm on 80mg daily. I was on the pill form of Methadone for most of my stay at the clinic. They were METHADONE DISKETTES 40MG, they also had DOLOPHINE 5MG and 10MG. Those worked amazing for me, they actually weren't even generic, those are Brand name Methadone. So over 6 months ago, they banned the tablets and forced every patient who were on tablets to liquid Methadone. Ever since the switch, I've been depressed and most of the time I don't even want to leave the house. I was the complete opposite on tablets. Happy, wanting to do anything and everything, etc. So it's definitely impacting my life, negatively. I DON'T want to raise my dose, because I know 80mg is my stable dose, and it will make it more difficult to get off Methadone when I'm ready to detox. I called 7 to 8 other clinics in my area and none of them carry tablets, just liquid. Not to mention, my clinic has been open for about 30 years, before I was even born (I'm in my mid 20s). They've always carried tablets. Of course with my luck, after just a couple years, banned the tablets! Ugh. Does ANYONE who's an active MMT patient know if their clinic carries tablets? I'm in San Diego, CA and I'm willing to even make a 100 mile drive to get them. I do have take homes, so a long drive wont bother me. I actually LOVE driving. Thanks in advance!

Please, anyone?
I need to find a Methadone clinic that carries Methadone in pill/tablet form!
Like I said, I'm from San Diego, and I'm willing to drive up to 100 miles back and forth. I donpt mind the long drive because I already have the maximum amount of take homes (27), so I'm only at the clinic just once a month.
For what it's worth, have you had your testosterone checked? After about 4 yrs at clinic I had the same thing happen. Apparently merhsdone just shreds your hormone levels and gland function. I started feeling depressed, moody, and severely fatigued. Literally didn't want to leave the bed. This is assuming you're male but it does same thing to women and their hormones. Just a thought. Good luck.
I have never even heard of a clinic that uses tablets, I am in MA and all ours use the liquid, and I agree it is awful. I feel the same way you do all the time, I can't work, gained 40 lbs, I hope you can find someplace. Our clinic was bought and the methadone was changed and now its even worse than it was. My husband had to go way up to 170mgs. I think it is actually weaker, I have heard that, so your dosage my not actually BE the exact dose of actual methadone you were getting. I bet if I took my dose in the pills I would feel a lot different. I am just getting off it 2mgs per week, I can't live like this. I just hope I can come down and go off without too many problems. Sorry you are having such a hard time, too. I wish you luck.
Hi I love in Florida and they stopped them here too. I think it's a nationwide thing, unfortunately. I'm on 79 mg going down 2 mg a day because I take Xanax and don't want my psych to stop giving it to me so I refused to sign an ROI from the clinic. My advise to you would be to start going down now while your not feeling well already. Hold where you are for about a week then start 1 or 2 mgs a week. You don't even notice it. Also see if you can get some benzos cuz they help with the anxiety. Good luck. I know I need it.
My reply is related to your description of the differences you feel between tablet dosing and liquid dosing. I've been on prescribed liquid methadone since Aug of '16. Prior to this, I had enough experience taking the tablet dose when available "from the street" to have consistent results over a reasonable time period. The tablet formula gave me the desire to be productive, without euphoria, while requiring less medicine per 24 hrs than I would with hydro or oxy (codone). Fast forward to liquid dosing...there are no similarities to the tablet dose, whatsoever.
I've been told this thinking is psychosomatic, but you and I and thousands of others aren't all describing, exactly, the same all-in-our-minds differences between the two.
I wanted to reply so there would be another person's experience, on record, as it pertains to very legitimate differences between the two formulations or methods of dosing / ingestion.
Either patients all across the globe are all experiencing the same psychological "glitches" or there's some serious diversion happening... INSIDE these clinics.
I use to be on liquid some 30 yrs ago but I found a few things I didn’t like. one is the take home bottles if were left on the side would leak, but very very rarely. The other thing is the clinic would mix their own at the clinic. Powder with distilled water. I found that sometimes I would start to feel some withdrawal symptoms in the early hours of the morning. If they don’t mix the right amount then you get different strengths.
Why don’t you wean yourself off of the liquid if you don’t like it and you drive 100 miles to get it? I was on it for years but came off of it easily.
