My Doc Will Not Refill My Xanax Im Feeling Sick (Page 18)

I was prescribed Prozac & Xanax 10 years ago by my psychiatrist for depression & severe panic attacks. He started me on 1mg 3 times a day. Around Dec 2005 he increased my daily dose to 1 mg - 4 times a day. I have been a patient of his now for 10 years where I see him every 3 months. Through the years, there has been a few times were I had to call to reschedule my appointment and a couple of times he had to do the same. He would call in my meds for the amount I would need to get me through to my next appointment. This month I had an appointment for May 27th I called to reschedule due to transportation. I do not drive now and my ride canceled on me. so, I rescheduled my app. for June 17th I then requested my meds be called in until my appointment, a 3 week supply. She said she would call me back when it was called in later that day. Not hearing anything I called back the next day to find out what was going on. I was told my doctor feels uncomfortable due to liability reasons to re-fill my medication, until I see him again in June. I asked her what about the liability to take me off medication I have been taking for 10 years? She told me to go to my primary physician to get my meds. I told her my primary care doctor will not prescribe me those medications without my medical records from this office and I just signed a medical release form a few days ago at my first appointment with this new primary doctor, so she told me to go to an urgent care if my symptoms became to uncomfortable for me to deal with!! I had enough xanax to last me until today. I took my last xanax this morning and I am already starting to feel sick, my head feels cloudy, I feel like I'm getting the flu. My heart is racing, I'm feel really anxious & closed in. Has anyone out there gone off xanax cold turkey what more should I expect? I don't understand how a doctor can prescribe medication like this for 10 years and just make you stop so suddenly it doesn't seem fair. I have lost trust in my doctor now and I don't think I can continue to be his patient anymore. I am scared and I don't know who to turn too.

oh yeah i also experienced when I touch my head it tingles real bad and I got bad vertigo ,Imean the spinning,the second day I felt all my back muscles clinching

I have run out of xanax after 20 years of 4 mg a day .I felt like I was in a cloud and nothing seemed real.Getting upset only caused tears a cussing.I took 50 mg of a sleepaid for night ,the kind like benadryl.It did make me sleep.12 days without ,I could funtion fine but the cloud was still there .I would look at me legs and feet and they looked so far away like I was 10 foot tall.It never stopped and I was told that my brain was messed up because it was so used to xanax.then the doc and pharmacy realized that I really did not have another refill.I did experience why I took them in the first place.all the past crap hit me hard .I got my refill but plan on it lasting 2 months not one.And slowly get off it .i dont know if I can .That first dose brought me back down to normal and I can live very peacefully.Its just hard.

It's ridiculous. I have severe Anxiety, Agoraphobia and PTSD. So wtf? U gonna try to give me some bulls*** trazodone??? I've been without for 4 days. I recently stopped taking this med, and it took several days to have a seizure - something that has never happened before, however, I was exceptionally sleep deprived which can be expected during withdrawal, I have had this med for 26 years. My maximun dose was 12 mg per day, and I asked the dose be reduced, but it stands at up to 4mg per day. This is considered High dose. In the past, I have titrated this medication down, as I want it to remaib effective, and had intermittent sort periods of abstinence while I waited for Drs appts. Here are some interesting things that people should be aware of: The seizures are quite serious, I am kucky it didn't take my life, once you have a seizure, you must stay on anticonvulsant medication as the danger of another seizure increases. lthough, after a period, this can be tapered off. There are studies showing anticonvulsant medication is effective for abrupt withdrawal. If Your doctor puts you into this position, you mifgt try asking for an anticonvulsant to keep you safe. You can tke both at the same time, and come off the -c gradually, or taper off your dose of benzo. Withdrawal from any substance is uncomfortable, there are no miracles to relieve all symptoms, Abrupt w/d is not recommended without medical supervision. Each case is different, and should be under supervision, medicated, or tapering.

I really personally would suggest that the Dr monitor you and wean off them instead of getting on another dependency because if you are like me i depend on my meds. I'm not an addict so if we have a true problem we depend on them. If you're doing it to feel high you need help. I'm sick of people abusing and it makes it hard for people like you and i. I don't think a Dr can just take you off xanax because it's dangerous i read about it. It said it could kill you unless he gives you something else top help you through your withdrawals. I've. Been on xanax for three years now and i tried quitting cold turkey and i couldn't the withdrawals were horrible and i was having bad dreams no sleep getting sick wasn't good. I am going to have my Dr put me on something thats less addictive. Go to the hospital if you get to bad because it's not safe and you been on it for ten years. I will beer praying for you

Yes and the dr whom I saw in the first place got up and left because he did have inappropriate remarks and harassment towards females and was getting caught up in it (2.) New dr has a suspended license right now until march for drug charges on him (3.) not a soul knew that so the clinic did not investigate potential candidates for the position and then another dr [actually 6] have quit in 3 months; a red flag. I started looking into it and then I found out all this at the same time charges visit to pep and the state also double checked for him (4.) laws of illegally practicing in the state (5.) laws of video the visit without a signature of consent and no prior records of your blood work done twice and no records of the video chat with him or her. U were suppose to get meds on the 15th and just got medical negligence to be more accurate and I am just trying to get it figured out if someone could.

@KMH, What you wrote has a lot of holes it . You are saying that the the the new doctor is prescribing Medicine without a license? You need to get copies of all your medical medical? records ad find a new doctor.

The pm dr, he completely just got up one day leaving how many patients without their anxiety meds, pain meds, depression, and so fourth. At my next appt. there was another dr there and he saw me and then told me he would get his license for a couple weeks (keep in mind run away dr is in another state and the new dr has a suspended license right now) and it's been like this for about 3 months now and then they see you and then fed ex the scripts to the run away dr and he fed ex them back. So make sure I have an appointment at least before I am out of my meds. ok I am going to say i am 39 and I have a messed up body, fibro and lupus and deteration to the spine and vertebrate and I keep going and anyways it would take a week. so I went 2 weeks ago n still don't have my prescriptions, 4 to be exact. Then during the Christmas holidays I praised God for the strength to be w/ my family. Moral of the story is I have been out of my meds after 14 years on them and I get a call Monday saying that I have my scripts but I can't get them until I was to see the run away dr and it be through medical video chat and to top it off the DEA is involed in this whole process. I have been looking for a new dr since July 2016 because of how the run away dr is. He harassed and assaulted not just one there, but several people and if u say no then we'll produce a false reading on your drug panel at the office until it comes back false from the lab and he said horrible things to me in front of my 15 year old. So my question is, how can he get away w/ all this n how can I seek help w/ another dr considering I had 2 weeks worth extra? Cause I have been trying to cut back and did last wed night and I've never been so po and for one thank God I try to keep it to two a day n rather than 6, n clonazepam 1mg in half by choice and 6 more meds. So without it, it is horrible cause I hurt my arms and my legs are going to fall off me and I just want to not hurt and be alive. It's in God's hands. I know i will get them tomorrow but I think it's illegal as heck to tell someone that they only get meds if they turn up and he probably got everyone quitting the place and that's the only way to get them to you so u can walk again. Should I be honest and say u have cut me off completely and now I can't eat sleep, etc.? Have I been through the wd or what? It's not me at all.

I was prescribed Xanax for a year and it was prescribed to me by my kidney doctor and one day when I walked into his office and he just said I don't need those and he's not going to prescribe those for me anymore. So I'm not going to fail to mention yes I have had drug-related issues with unprescribed medication and I've been sick and without my Xanax, I went through hell. Having no idea that I could have had more severe issues without it and with it but to God's grace and mercy I made it through. So yeah sure doctors look down on me. You know they've been trained to do that but I did not care because I wasn't going to live without sleep, and possibly seizures and possible death. I want to live away from anxiety so I did what I had to do. Doctors are smart as they are stupid. For some silly reason they want to send you to see some type of psych shrink and all they were going to tell you was something even dumber then trying to live out in space without a suit. So all I can tell you is if you got to walk into your doctor's office and cuss them out because they know the end result of you being snatched off of Xanax for so long or at least they should know. While being on Xanax 10 years and having them taken away from you that was a death sentence. They should be sued.

I took my last 1mg xanax on dec 5th...I was in ambulance on the 6th.. could not breath, all muscles pulled in, no oxygen...still waiting for a shrink..making me wait thru holidays? I have not taken any medical evaluations because my gov. controls our drs...why? I'm in my 60's. The florida gov. is gonna kill me...

@LuLu, IMO it's not illegal. A doctor doesn't have to call in refills unless they have assesses their patients face to face. Everyone is looking to protect themselves and their assests.

My Dr got up and left now in another state, so he says. Now another dr from another place is waiting for his/her license to be in that state. My question is how can the dr that left still sign narcotics to patients when he is acting as if he is over seeing a new dr and the jerk is not around? I know it's illegal as heck.

You should not stop Xanax cold turkey. You will have Gran mal and petit mal seizure. Especially taking Xanax for 10 years at 3x a day. You should find a doctor who will taper you down in a controlled fashion to avoid dangerous, potentially serious and dangerous side effects due to withdrawals. It will be hard as hell. You cannot do it alone. You may have to be dispensed limited amounts on a weekly basis until you taper off the Xanax. In long term use, this could mean several years to taper off the drug. There is also more and more evidence that long term use will and has contributed to dementia in human clinical trials by patients that have used Xanax more than just several days. Withdrawals can start even at 3 weeks of use and is just as equally as dangerous as impossible it is to self control autonomously. I would recommend you have someone work with you on the taper down. A Doctor. Nothing less. I'm sorry but that is the truth and bottom line of the kickback of Xanax.

You took a xanax this morning and you're already feeling sick? That's pretty fast for you to feel anything close to withdrawals. Perhaps a little stress for not having any left. You should be fine for 36 - 48 hours and if not there's always the ER just tell them your dosage and how long you've taken it, theyll give you enough to not risk a seizure
