1 month ago I had surgery. I was given Morphine intravenously and had an immediate allergic reaction in the O.R. It's been a month later and I was told the drug is still present in my hair and will be up to 90 days. Can I have my hair colored/dyed without chancing another allergic reaction?

why would they put an opiate blocker with morphine in a pill together? ## I assume you are referring to the medication Embeda? This has been done to try to prevent abuse of the time released Morphine that the tablets contain. Many people crush them and then try to insufflate or administer it intravenously. If they try it with a tablet that contains the Naltrexone, then the opiate is neutralized and they will have wasted their time. Same if they try to chew the tablet. It does not affect the efficacy of the Morphine, if the pill is swallowed, like it is supposed to be. Do you have any other questions?

can I crush morphine sulfate cr 60mg? ## No, the CR stands for Controlled Release, which means this is a generic for MS Contin, a time released medication. These tablets slowly release the medication over a 12 hour time period. By crushing it, you risk getting too much of the Morphine at once, which could cause an overdose. An overdose could cause severe organ damage and death. Do you have trouble swallowing the tablets? ## Yes, you can crush it and insuffulate it as it is water soluble. As the man above me said, watch out. If you have taken the Morph orally then you will be able to snort it. If you are taking them everyday for pain I would highly advise against this as it will build up tolerance and you might find yourself going out side your doctor to get more opiates (Heroin too eh, ...

my friend ate a 200 mg morphine pill and threw up and is in tremendous pain and falling asleep. does she need to go to hospital? ## It is NEVER a good idea, when you are afraid that someone's life or health may be in danger, to post on a free information website and wait for an answer!!! this site is not medical professionals and could not help in such cases. Always call or take the person to your nearest emergency care facility. That said, the only 200mg Morphine tablets in the U.S. are time released and if she ate, so she received all of the Morphine at once, yes, she could have gotten too much of the medication, especially if she does not take it regularly. The vomiting, pain and sedation are all signs of a drug overdose! Please post back and let us know how she is doing. More on...
