Hello, I live in Youngstown, Oh. An area going through a recent "DEA dragnet". I really don't know what else to call it. Several Pharmacies and at least one very large Pain Management Clinic were raided in the past 8 or 9 months. This has caused so much more pain and suffering for the folks who were already suffering and in pain I don't have the vocabulary to express the frustration, helplessness, humiliation & anger towards the DEA and Ohio Pharmacy Board's self righteous & totally clueless "leaders" who're dictating to the doctors how much pain medication they can prescribe because they've determined the "trigger point" limit of certain narcotic pain medicines patient's have been taking for years. Of all the narcotic pain meds, is Morphine the LEAST likely to affect the liver in a negative way? If not Morphine then which of this type and class of drug is the least toxic to the liver? ## Hello, Keikeeo! How are you? Most medications are processed through the liver and carry the same risks of harm, as long as they don't contain Acetaminophen. Thus, along with Morphine, other options can include Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and Hydromorphone. i take morphine sulfate imm rel 30 mg tab x3 daily. the 30 mg doesnt help my pain, my question is can i split 1 of my 30 mg in half & take 1 whole 30 mg at 1 time making it 45 mg ## You need to discuss this with your dr. Immediate release can be broken. Long acting/extended release should not be.

After 10 years of taking Hydrocodone for Chronic lower back pain, doses increasing over the years, my new PM Doctor has started me on Morphine Sulfate 15 mg ER at bed time. Also take 5 each Norco 10-325 during the day. I was taking 6 each Norco 10-325 a day, but needed/wanted 8 or 10 a day. Wishing I had a pickup truck load of Norco 10-325. Loved the stuff, but 6 a day was not easing the pain any longer. I would run out every month a week early. Normally I would take a Xanax 1 mg, sometime 2, at night and knock right to sleep. Last night was the first time I took the Morphine Sulfate 15 mg ER at bed time. I Had to take 2 each Xanax and only slept 3 or 4 hours. I am on several med including xanax, ambian, viibryd, oxycodone, soma, montelukast, albuteral, abilify and flexeral. My pain management took blood and sqid I tested positive for morphine. I have never taken it and wonder if any of theese or a combonation of these could cause that? Can you please help!

I am caregiver for my sister with terminal cancer and noticed something sticky on the bottom of my foot. It appeared to be the old patch I had removed after placing a new patch on her. I see my doctor for a permanent disorder and worry that something like that could show in me!! Don't mean to sound silly, but would like to know. He is on 30 mg of morphine a day two immediate release and two extended release when his headaches get really bad he cant keep his meds down and eventually has withdrawals. On average he gets two days out of the week that he can function at his normal pain tolerance which is about a three he also throws up his meds on average four times a week the doctors have tried twenty five different treatments for him and none of them have been successful the morphine is the only thing that has been able to give him some relief please help any advice or anyone else going through the same thing and if you do what you do to live a half way normal life. I took 3 . 35 mgs morphine pills , i got a severe head ache and felt like if I was going to burn up inside. Did I took too much ? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? Did you suffer any adverse effects? Why did you take so many? And what dosage was it, there is no 35 or .35mg Morphine tablets. But if you aren't tolerant to it, taking multiple pills could definitely risk an overdose, the signs for that would be extreme sedation, dizziness, extreme drowsiness and shallow breathing.

My morphine sulfate 60mg were stolen, and I hve some methadone 10mg. I was supposed to take the Morphine sulfate 60mg X3 a day. How should I take these methadone 10mg to help me get through until I see My Dr. next week? ## I'd suggest actually calling your doctor to see what you should do. I got hurt serving in Afghanistan so I got medically discharged it was on morphine while I was in the service until I got out now they put me on Vicodin 10 and then they put me on tramadol and it does nothing for me I have done every type of treatment and nothing works how do I get them to just let me have what works ## Hello, Garu! I'm wondering if it is safe to take 60mg morphine sulfate .er with 900 mg gabapentin, 3mg melatonin , and 50 mg vistril together. does anyone know if the morphine will react badly with the others? I take the others together every night ## The Morphine, Vistaril and Melatonin can all increase sedation and cause depression of the central nervous system, so you shouldn't combine them, unless your doctor has specifically said that its safe for you to do so. It could be dangerous, if you aren't tolerant to them or when combined with some health conditions. Is there anything else I can help with?

Iam a 65yo male with osteogenisis imperfecta,scoliosis,osteoarthritis,IBS,hypertension etc. I had both knees replaced 22 years ago. Recently an increase in pain in L hip prompted my PC Doc to do the mscontin thing. I was already on the 60mg's codeine 3 times a day. This has been great,finally i can walk around pretty much pain free most of the day. I just wondering about all that tyelnol, because its been about 30 or 40 years taking tyelnol and I'm worried about my liver. What else would be good.for BTP. Also be sure to tell them each & every time Before you're given anything, by mouth, IV or IM. You also need to tell them to be sure & write it in your chart. But, Do Not Depend On Them Checking It Before They Give It To You.

Can I take Oramorph SR 60 mg if I am used to 100 mg of Vicodin a day? ## There are no 100mg tablet of Hydromorphone and Acetaminopen, if you were taking enough of them to equal that dosage, you have been putting yourself in severe danger of overdosing on the Acetaminophen. In that case, yes, you are probably better off and safer with the Oramorph SR. It contains no Acetaminophen and is time released. The side effect profile is the same as other narcotics, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Recently found a bottle of liquid morphine sulfate that was from a family member that had hospice back in 2007. The expiration date on the bottle is 2010. It had been opened previously. It was found in the basement of the house. The liquid morphine is brown, and it has a distinct "expired" smell to it. Aside from common sense about the gross factor, is it possible at all to still use? Main concern is if there is a chance of dangerous mold and bacteria. I'm sure I still has some potency left.
