I take this med for my migraines. My insurance will not pay anything, and it is costing me almost $100 for 25 pills. Is there a generic I can purchase instead? ## Hello, Gilmer Gal! How are you? Unfortunately, what you've listed is the generic. The name brand would be Midrin. Have you tried checking the price with other pharmacies in your area? They may be cheaper. Another alternative is to try one of the discount cards, such as the free one offered on this site. You click the link, put in your email address and print the card. They do save a lot of money for some people. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, drowsiness and dizziness. Does anyone else have any suggestions that may help? ## Thank you so much. Wow, in my next life I want to be a pharmaceutical co...

I just started depacote for bipolar 2. I'm also taking suboxone 16mg and have been for 2 months. The first week I was taking 500 mg depacote and just started on 1000. I'm experiencing severe diareah and gas like never before. I'm also plagued with kidney stones and these are symptoms I've experienced with stones, just not as bad. Just curious if anyone has experienced symptoms like these soon after starting or upping their dose of depacote. Should I take my dose tonight or wait and see what's up?! This is horrible! ## Hello, Timmy! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of Depakote, especially with a rapid dose increase, such as the jump from 500mgs to 1,000mgs. However, it's usually transient and only continues for a short period of time. You may also exp...

Sansert use to provide prophylactic help. Any new treatment anyone about which anyone can advise me? Joel ## Although Sansert is no longer made in N America, it is in the UK (as Deseril 1 mg). Some Canadian pharmacies will provide with a prescription with this name or as methysergide ## wow... I have the same issue, I am allergic to maltodextrin, found in imitation sugars.. I accidently allowed some in my body by eating an ice cream product that hat maltodextrin in it. When this happens it triggers cluster headaches in me. Sans...

I know the Westward brand-they are no longer making-but CVS has told me they can't get the tablet form of the generic brand of fiorinal-so I have to look elsewhere ## Hello, Suz! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having! And no, the tablets are no longer available, just the capsules. There have been many people that don't like them as well, or who feel they don't work as well, but there's really nothing that can be done about it. Have you tried any other medications? Perhaps your doctor can help you find an alternative. ## Is there any place in the worlds to get fiorinal tablets? Canada? Any place? I need them bad! Migraines. Nothing else works! Tell Actavis to start making them again!!!!

Hello, Just started on imitrex nasal spray 2 days ago, had to use 2nd dose at exactly the 2 hour mark the first night ('alarm clock headache' at 5am). Used it tonight and an hour later vomited, felt a little better, but still have lingering headache. Is this all normal? As it is the weekend, cannot verify with my PMD, and just want to make sure I am taking it properly - should I be lying down, head upright? Any better way of administration? And is it ok that I am taking advil/excedrin migraine along with it when I feel it is not working? ## Hello, Kimg! How are you? Unless you've been specifically instructed otherwise, such sprays should always be used while sitting or standing upright. The nausea, vomiting and mild headache can all be side effects of Imitrex, along with diz...

I get severe headaches/ migraines that last for days with NO relief unless I took the blue pills fiorecet with butalbital caffeine AND codiene. After years of taking it and never getting addicted. I never even asked for an increase in strength or frequency! My stupid Dr. decides to stop it and give me massive doses of ibuprophen (advil) saying it would work the same, I reminded him that I had started seeing HIM because nothing otc worked! He said I was having rebound headaches from them. Well, I found out that for me, it was the butalbital that caused the rebound headaches not the codiene which was the only part of that pill combo besides the caffeine that helped. I now have a prescription for straight codiene (codeine sulfate) and it WORKS! I take 1 I don't get drowsy and it takes ...

the queen used it while delivering her eigth child ## Actually, that is a myth. At the time there was a debate going on between doctors who thought it was okay to use pain medication during child birth and those who did not. Thus, the store was told and perpetuated, to try to encourage people to use it and believe it was safe, however, the store was not actually true. That said, whether or not the queen did get any medication is something this site does not know. The thing most commonly used back then did not begin with a C, anyway, it was actually Ether. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## pain med that strat with letter c ## I recently had a migraine headache and the ER doctor gave me a shot of something beginning with "C" or maybe "K'.........any ideas

I have been using fiorinal with codine for at least 12 years for Lupus and Migranes. The generic does not work as well, so I pay for brand. My question is there a safe place to order, the pharmies are so strict about the 30 day and I never have enough. My dr. Will not encrease the dose, though it has not been changed in ten yrs. I am tired of the treatment at the pharmies, and the withdrawal I suffer almost every month. Fioricet 50/325/40 TB. Can a person take 4 or 5 at once? What will happen?? ## It contains acetaphetamine which is toxic to your liver in high doses. Also caffeine which can be detrimental in high doses. 4 or 5 is a very bad idea. 2 is the maximum amount one should take for a headache.

Is there a prescription formulation of butalbital and caffeine WITHOUT the acetaminophen other than Fioinal? ## Hello, John! How are you? No, I'm sorry, but there isn't. The only ones available contain either Acetaminophen or Aspirin. If you require it without either one, if you have a compounding pharmacy nearby, your doctor may be able to prescribe it and have them create it for you. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I deal with chronic headaches as well as occasional migraines, and nothing has seemed to have an effect except vicodin. I was just prescribed fioricet and took one earlier and then another an hour or so later as the dose is 1-2 and the first wasn't effective. Three hours later my headache was just as bad and I took 2 more as I thought taking them an hour apart may have made them less effective. It's been over an hour since then and still no relief, I do maybe feel slightly dizzy and out of it but it's very slight...should I just give up on fioricet and see my doctor again? I'm in college and go to a very difficult school and I'm having a very hard time keeping up with the workload and even getting out of bed and going to class. I was prescribed 10mg amitryptilyine for migraine prevention. It seems to be helping with the migraines, however, I feel very tired all day and my eyes have bags under them and feel so tired all the time. It has been well over a month since I've started this and the side effects do not seem to be subsiding. Any suggestions?? I love the fact I'm not having the migraines but the side effects I can't handle much longer. ## Hello! How are you? This medication is a tricyclic antidepressant and it can cause REM onset latency, which means you don't enter the REM phase of sleep as fast as normal and spend less time in it than normal, so your sleep isn't as restful. That's likely why you feel so tired and have the bags under your eyes. I found that they improved about 6 w...

I am taking a 80 mg a day of hydrocodone / Acetaminophen and trying lower down to 40 mg a day to 20 mg a day then 10 mg a day, and 10 every 24 hours without having to have extreme opiate withdrawals, please tell me if I can use fioricet for opiate withdrawals. what do need to know. ## Hello, Will363! How are you? If you're doing a slow taper, your withdrawals should be minimal. How long have you been taking it? How fast of a taper are you doing? It takes at least a week, between each dosage drop, for your body to adjust. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And no, there is really nothing in the Fioricet to help.
