My dermatologist recommended me to use cindamicin phosphate at 7.00 am, metronidazole gel USP at 3:00pm and the mixture of tretin A and benzoyl peroxide at night. How long will it take to see an improvement? Are those combinations safe to use? It's been almost 2 months and I don't see any big difference. What kind of gel/cream should I use to get rid of those scars? ## These medications may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, they will not do anything to help the scars that you already have. Have you tried asking your dermatologist what you can use that may help minimize the...

And i have been breastfeeding my 1 year old... not a lot, just here and there because she trying to wean herself off. Could it harm her in anyway? ## Hello, Royal! How are you? While the FDA does report that Metronidazole is secreted in breast milk, no adverse effects on infants have been reported. I have an abcess in my gums my next door neighbor gave me metronidazole pliva 334 said it will stop the infection and help rid the abcess is this true ## Hello, Aaron! How are you? You need to see your dentist. While the FDA does classify Metronidazole as an antibiotic, so it may help, it will not fix whatever underlying problem has caused the abscess, such as a deep dental cary. Until you have that taken care of, the infection will keep returning and worsening. You also may not have enough to fully eradicate the infection, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistance. Typical side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, I just had a root canal and my specialist put me on Flagyl 25...

My doctor said I have trichomonis and prescribed klion d for 10 nights along with metronidazole for 7 days twice daily. Im reading all the side effect and would jus like to know if this insert is safe ## It is far less risk to take the medications than to let your condition continue being untreated. I was on Metronidazole for 7 days & finished it 3 days ago. I experienced some nausea & even vomited a couple of times while taking it but now that I am not taking it anymore I have been having strong stomach cramps off and on & as of today I also have very watery diarrhea. Is it normal to be having side effects associated with this antibiotic this long after finishing it?? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Yes, that is normal. If it lasts more than a week, or if it gets worse, you should consult your doctor. This is the Ndc # for Watson's Metronidazole. Is this drug still good? It's 250mg and it expired in 2015. ## If it is in a bottle as dispensed by your pharmacy, and not the original sealed manufacturers container, then the expiration would have been in 2016. It does not become dangerous after it expires, but it does begin to lose efficacy, thus the best thing to do would be to dispose of it and see your doctor for a new prescription. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
I was given four of these to take at once to treat Trichomoniasis. It's the third day and the discharge is a much lighter discharge but still there. Will it eventually go away or do I need more tablets? ## Hello, Susanna! How are you? If you're seeing improvement, then that means it is most likely clearing up and you'll just need to give it a few days, but if you're concerned, please double check with your doctor. However, generally with antibiotics if there's an improvement after 3 days, that means they are working. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm doing good..and you?..thank you so much. I do have another question...
When will Metronidazole reduce the swelling in my mouth or even eliminate it completely? ## Did your doctor or dentist prescribe it for you? It may not properly treat such an infection and, even if it does, if the swelling is due to a dental issue, it will not correct that problem, so you'll still need to see a dentist to have it rectified. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
I have the pill METRONIDAZOLE it expires 1/ 13 2013 is it still safe to take the tablet ## Hi shonta, Based on my research certain drugs are actually okay to take many years after their expiration date, whereas others such as, specific types of antibiotics (namely tetracycline) can become toxic. Normally I'd still consider taking something like that if it's only been two months old, but because it's an antibiotic (and I don't know if it can become toxic) I would encourage you to get a new script from your doctor or have it lab tested for quality, before relying on it for a serious infection. I hope this advice helps! ## Hi can you still take metronidazole after if it expired Feb2015 this year? It was properly stored. ## I have antibiotic thats been expired since 2015 can...

I started taking metronidazole 500mg tablets on 9/26 three times daily for 10 days and take progesterone only BC DAILY. I had intercourse on 10/1 and went right home taking my pill. I was to start my period somewhere between Thursday and Saturday (I'm irregular) and have not started yet, should I be worried? ## I didn't find any problems, or interactions listed, it is usually the level of estrogen that some antibiotics can alter that reduces the efficacy of some oral contraceptives, according to the NIH. If you're concerned about pregnancy, there is never any harm in checking, but if you're irregular anyway, there is likely nothing to worry about. Have you started, yet?
