Metoprolol Withdrawal (Page 117)

Updated

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol.

i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred.

is this withdrawal? how long will it last?

i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad.

Re: RV (# 2320) Expand Referenced Message

Well my appt didn’t go as I thought but I’m thinking it’s a blessing. Just some sinus tach, one small rhythm change but nothing he wants to do an ablation for. See ya in 4 months for the next loop recorder follow up. Not sure if I have SVT but I guess the wait and watch is better than an ablation I might not need.

I think I really need to toss the Apple Watch. I think it had created a monster of anxiety and just need to trust that loop recorder and process. It looks like the rates are not the same as what my loop recorder is sending in

Your nose is not a symptom. That could just be allergies, dryness, congestion. Don’t worry about those small things. Not worth it

If it makes you feel any better i have stopped wearing an apple watch since 2 months. It has obviously made me better i Atleast stopped the constant monitoring. What did the doctor say about other symptoms ? I mean 8-9 months after metoprolol why do we suffer!

Re: RV (# 2322) Expand Referenced Message

He said the sinus tach could be from anything but he’ll continue to monitor it. I’m hoping that just goes away with time and not focusing on my Apple Watch.

I think we are just going to have to let our central nervous systems heal. Good thing is, is that most of the feelings from that don’t happen as often anymore. I do think we will find a way back to homeostasis

Yes please stop wearing the watch at this time it doesn’t look great for us. Did your cardiologist ask you to exercise? so i am almost 2 months off now and the most bothering symptom is shortness of breath which didn't happen 2-3 weeks till i started taking metoprolol. It scares me a lot what if this is the new normal for me

Re: RV (# 2324) Expand Referenced Message

He says yes to go ahead and exercise. There’s no problem with that and can obviously reduce your resting heart rate the more the heart conditions.

I don’t think it’s your new normal. I think your body just needs to heal. When I was taking Metoprolol I did have a few nights where I couldn’t get a good breath in and it was definitely due to the pill. I think your body will re adjust and you won’t feel that forever

Thank you so much thats reassuring. Yes i pray that all of us get out of this mess as soon as possible. When are you planning to get loop recorder removed?

Re: RV (# 2326) Expand Referenced Message

I’m still being monitored so probably not for awhile. I go back in May for follow up. The loop recorder can stay in for 3 years so I’ll probably leave it in until they know for sure I either don’t have anything or do have something and get an ablation.

Are you feeling better today?

Well, someone at my husbands work tested positive for Covid and so my husband is home from work until he rapid tests on Tuesday. They want him to wait the 5 days from exposure to test.

But guess what showed up tonight after weeeeks of none. My PVCS. Can they really be induced by this news/stress? Like what the FLIP

I can’t sleep because of the PVCs :(

I’m wondering if I should get a 2nd opinion from another electrophysiologist. I don’t know if I’m being silly and I don’t know how that’s works when you have a loop recorder implant.

What IS THISSSSSSS

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2328) Expand Referenced Message

Hahah this is sad! My parents have recovered. Virus usually shows up after 4-5 days of exposure so hence they might have asked him to wait for a couple of days. PVC can be stress induced but how sure are you about them being PVC? This shortness of breath was wondering if i should see a doctor. Spo2 was 98-99% and bpm 80s while sitting and 90s while standing

I’m sorry to hear that mama! I got my first covid vaccine on Monday. I get the second dose in February. Fingers crossed he doesn’t catch it.

My cardio showed me what they look like and I see them on the ECG on my Apple
Watch. 100% PVC. They are beyond frustrating and they are still here today with a vengeance. I’m so frustrated today and just want to throw in the towel

I’m debating a 2nd opinion with another electrophysiologist

PVCs are freaking relentless today and I’m at my wits end!

I made an appt with GP on Tuesday to get thyroid checked out and hormones. I’m also going to ask for a referral for a another electrophysiologist for a 2nd opinion

Do the pvcs have a physical sensation sorry for asking such a dumb question? I was this close to seeing a doctor after shortness of breath will surely request for a chest xray and pulmonary test soon this sucks! Hope you are doing better today!

Re: RV (# 2335) Expand Referenced Message

Yes! I feel every one. It’s an extra beat in between your normal one so it feels like a skip and a thud. It really is not a skip but it thuds due to the extra volume in blood. It SUCKS and I hate it. Sometimes I’ll get adrenaline with it as well just because it scares me

Re: Txcandy1 (# 2336) Expand Referenced Message

I am sorry that you have to go through this! I had this not the skip only the thud and it felt awful . Have you booked an appointment with the doctor? I get 3-4 good hours and then 3-4 bad hours its been a cycle today is 61 days off metoprolol for me.

Yeah I’m sure it was a pvc. Most everyone has them every now and then but not everyone feel them.

How are you feeling today?

Do you or Juliya ever get dizzy sensations at night when looking at a screen or book. I’ve been getting these weird dizzy sensations when looking at a screen or reading at night. It happens for a split second and then sometimes gives me the tingles. Could this still be nervous system issued from the beta blocker? I got checked out with ENT and he said all was fine.

I am doing okay sometimes good some times bad palpitations , minor discomfort around chest and inability to feel a good deep breath these are my perpetual symptoms. Will be booking an appointment with a pulmonologist this week just to err on the safer side. Did you book your appointment ?
