Welcome to our forums and you've come to the right place, because I had quite a few adventures with that medication myself!
Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions.
As to the occasional dizziness, yes, it can cause this as a side effect, which is more than likely due to orthostatic hypotension. Is it happening when you move suddenly?
If so, then this is probably the cause, it has been known to cause this in some people.
If it's putting you in danger of falling or anything, then you should contact your doctor, as you may need to switch to a different medication.
Another factor that could come into play and cause this is your fluid intake. Orthostatic Hypotension can also be caused by dehydration.

Are there any other questions?
I have the same "bother" as you report. I also get the exact "sensation" (but it steadily gets worse and worse) when the VA is late getting meds to me via the mail. What that means is for every day I "cold turkey" Metoprolol Tartrate the worse that 'vertigo' seems to become, plus it "plays" with anxiety/panic symptoms as well. Definitely should be tapered rather slowly in my opinion...
I am not a drinker nor do I do drugs. my blood pressure was 208/115 at it's highest so for most of the day so I took a 25mg metropolol and a 10mg anxiety pill forgot the name of it starts with an L I am supposed to take it twice a day but hadn't taken it in weeks. anyway bottom line is I went to sleep and did not hear knocking on the door or anything happening around me. I feel like the medicine put me in a coma state. is that possible?
