Methylcobalamin is a form of Vitamin B12, so it is a nutritional supplement.
And no, it is not a direct substitute for Becosule, because it is a multivitamin supplement.
As a supplement, the side effect profiles for it are not studied, as is done for prescription drugs, however, some people do experience some nausea, after taking it.
It is used to treat or prevent the conditions that can be caused by a deficiency in the nutrients that it contains.
