Methadone With Anxiety And Depression Medication

My doctor won't put me on anything like benzos because im on methadone. I'm now on sertraline 50mg and that's not helping either. This has been going on for 5 months now and i feel im not getting the help i should be because im on methadone. My life is a nightmare right now. Is there anything i can do?

Have you tried seeing a different doctor, perhaps a mental health specialist?

They are usually the most knowledgeable about what medications can and can't be safely combined to treat such conditions.

And Benzodiazepines really don't help much with depression, they mainly act as downers, so they can actually make it worse.

Could you ever come off the methadone? Maybe then you could get something that would help. I am not experienced in drug addiction or methadone and was just wondering if that was a step you could look into?

Why are you on Methadone? Is it for withdrawal or maintenance from other drugs, or for pain? Why do you think you need "benzos"? You really cannot self diagnose or self prescribe meds! If you have depression, that is one thing. If you have anxiety, that is another. And, you could have anxiety/depression, which is a whole nother ballpark!

These are some of the reasons you need to see a mental health doctor, Psychiatrist, and be completely honest. IF he/she orders meds for you, please ask your pharmacist about any interactions between your meds, they could land you in the ER and ICU, I know they did me. Don't play with your medications, and be sure to listen if your pharmacist tells you something, they are the ones who really know medications.

Not true and definitely not right. I have bad anxiety and depression and I'm on methadone and I get xanax and valuims prescribed to help and it works great. If your doctor won't give it to you go to a psychiatrist and get them.
