Methadone Dose Cut In Half

Been taking 40 mg methadone daily for 6 -7 years for pain management . Some reason my meds came up short this month and I've had to lower my dose in half to make it to my refill day. I'm feeling like crap being this is 3rd day and have 3 more to go until I can refill my script just would think keeping methadone in your system you wouldn't get sick , I've even taken a few
Extra norco for break threw pain and also take Ativan for anxiety I really thought I could take a few extra of my other meds to stop the yucky feeling
I just take the 20 mg methadone in morning. Should I take 10 mg in morning and 10 mg in afternoon ? As it is now , I'm not getting my second dose
Wish I would had never started this medicine , it's great for pain management but it's just a scary med to ever even think of getting off completely

Hi Anne! Maybe u should try splitting the dose into twice a day. And, take the Norco 4 break through. I was on methadone b 4 I got on suboxone. So , believe me, I know how u r feeling. It totally STINKS! How did your meds come up short? Did the pharmacy miss count them? If so, from now on, b 4 u even leave the pharmacy, make sure u count them right there. Because, once u leave the pharmacy, it's not on them, anymore.
