What company makes these ASC 116 and when did they come out on the market?

Always typical (and sad) of the med students, nurses, pharmacists, etc who are the people that should be educated, but always use such general and absolute statements to address these non-black and white situations that we have. At the very least, they should accept the fact that when the meds are being manufactured there is an active ingredient lee-way of 20% and a lee-way on inactive stuff, some of which helps the body absorb methadone, so how can you really say there is no difference between the 3 brands being discussed? It is very possible that Ascend is essentially issuing "Methadone Light" and 20% on active and inactive can give you a lot of variables, enough to cause a side effect that someone may not have with the other brand. Having said ALL OF THAT, today I took my first "Ascend methadone" for the very first time since that's what the pharmacy gave me and I'm trying to be optimistic due to the fact, the nature of online message boards is that people are only going to post when there are PROBLEMS with something. Take - for instance - a men's hair loss forum. Look up almost any product out there and it's full of negatives, but you don't hear about the people that benefit from the products because they have no reason to seek out a forum and tell everyone "Hey this stuff is great!" But even with THAT being said, I'm a bit worried that I haven't found ONE good thing to be said about Ascend yet (among the people that actually take it, sorry but I'm really not listening to anyone that does not have the EXPERIENCE). You can't speak on something without an experience.

What is the difference between this pill and the 10mg methadone white round pill labled 54/142 and scored on the other side, is it just the manufacturer? I usually get the 54/ 142 and pay about $22 for 150 I had to go to a different pharmacy this month and they gave me the ascertain 116 ones and charged me $90 for the same 150!! I mean I don't have insurance but this seems outrageous. Could it maybe just have been the pharmacy I went to? Also, I want to make sure there wont be a difference in my pain management on these pills. Thanks

U mean 54/142? Anyway taken a whole bottle of these new 116 ones . I had 360 of them... (no not at once obviously ) but they work fine for me.. take 120 a day.. works for pain just the same.. i was on both the 54/142 and the rectangles before.. all 3 work for me. I dont get how you could poo one out whole! They startto disintegrate when you put them in your mouth how could they make it through your whole digestive tract?i don't see how that's possible..

Im sorry but i have tried this with many different pills.. and changing the manufacturer does make a difference at times. If u know anything about generic pills u know that the active ingredient has to be the same but the inactive ingredients do not have to be the same! This makes a difference! Unless you have taken them you wouldnt know. Now as my last post said i had yet to try them. I just took my usual amount today but with the new asc 116 pills. They took the same amount of time to start working and they felt just the same. No added nauseous feeling. No more then usual anyway.. i find them to be very much the same as the rectangle methadone and the 54/142 rounds.. if you are nauseous and throwing up you either took to many or its the inactive ingredients your more sensitive to. Some things are in your head or placebos wouldn't work. But i personally have noticed a difference in meds that are made under different manufacturers.

I have been nauseous for about 3 weeks now, couldn't pinpoint anything that was causing this. Finally I got to noticing that it was happening about the same time everyday. I looked at my methadone bottle and seen that it was by a different manufacturer. This manufacturer was ASCEND. It has ASC 116 on the pill. I will NOT EVER take another one of these. I don't know what the difference is but I felt almost as if I was in withdrawals. And if my pharmacy wont get the one's I was taking, then I will find a new pharmacy.

Yes ..I am so much better now, you are taught because of the stigma that goes with methadone as it is used to treat people with addiction that you to are an addict. Methadone works for other issues but it is first a pain medicine that works wonders for chronic pain. I always felt like I had to hide the fact that I used methadone to help me, I always felt that if I make to much of a fuss then I will be taken off of it, and my life of chronic pain will put me in mental, and physical hell. I am 42 years old and this medicine helps me have a life, no I can't play football, basketball, are run a marathon - but I can have a pain reduced life. I am no longer the shy quiet person that excepts that this is what you get, and be happy with it. You all know if you have chronic pain the doctors and the pharmacist are not the issue, it's the federal government that decides that there is a problem with drug abuse in this country so they make you go through so much bull crap to get the medicine you need. Who in the hell would put themselves through all this if they didn't have to. I have been in so much pain that I have thought about ending it all - just to make it stop. Then I had an epiphany in the obituary it would say prescription drug use was the problem here. Instead of the truth the monthly harassment, and expensive doctor visits, and the expensive monthly u/a's, and all the other expensive diagnostics to run you in the ground all just to get the medicine that saves your life- after doctor visits then the mistakes that happen at pharmacy - like switching company's who manufacturer medicine for profit. I decided my life is mine! I love life, and deserve not to live it in bed. There is something that works for me, and I will be damned if anyone else tells me how my body feels- are makes it hard on me if I have to be rude and make a butt of myself I will. No more Mr nice guy.

Hmm..don't know. It was just a comment I read in an article. Was just seeking an opinion of others. I think calling out someone as an addict was rude. We dont set out to be addicts. Most of us i believe are just dependants due to how our bodies work. Chronic pain sufferers need relief. If this is the only med that works , well thats how it goes. Please dont judge...you never know when it will be you. I never thought i would be in this position. Take it day by day, my friends.

I agree with you totally. My pharmacy changed to ASC and I did not notice they did this at first. I felt like complete crap. Now I take Rox only. There IS a difference and I don't care what anyone says. Try can talk until they are blue in the face. It works different.

I've been on methadone for twelve years I've had liquid,wafers methadose,mallikrodt 10,Roxanne 10,all prescribed and one month my regular pharmacy had asc116 after 3-4 days I brought my script back to my dr told him they absolutely do not work and he said he had other people say the same thing so now they write mallikrodt or Roxanne only on my scripts.btw he said when a new generic goes on the market they usually only have 60% of the drug in each pill.He has been in pain management for 30 years and on several boards so I definitely believe him,ascend methadone is garbage!!!!

Sorry to correct you, but your statement is erroneous, Comparing and suggesting that 10mg of Methodone (Or any other same amount) is the same no matter whom the manufacture is, is Wrong. Just like no two Mechanics, With the same Certifications will perform exactly the same, Just like two different Doctors will not provide the same attention to detail to their patients, I am using these scenarios just as an example. Pharmaceutical companies add certain ingredients that are not used by others, the methadone is the same, but the extra compound ingredients may differ, this is done for color, taste, stomach acid metabolization... COST....etc, therefore, sometimes these other ingredients do not sit well with the biological make up of each individual patient, So, there you have the Facts, Hope this helps Guys, And my opinion is offered as Factual Information...And NOT in a Derogatory Way to anyone, Respectfully....Kel.

Exactly. I usually take Roxanne or Mallinkrot. When I took Ascend, I went into withdrawls cause it's so s***ty. Just like the QUALITEST brand for Norco & Soma. Ascend & Qualitest should be pulled from the market.

med student guy, i have to disagree with you. Unless you have Neuropathy you just don't know. There is no such thing as Gabbapentin Cymbalta. It's either one or the other. I've tried them both at the highest recommended doses. They help a wee bit. Lyrica didn't work at all. I can go on and on. The Dr.s love throwing that Gabbapentin at people and believe me it is not even close to being working like they believe it does. I've tried just about everything and the only thing that seems to help at all arethe opiates. So a little helpful advise to you LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS THEY ARE THE ONES GOING THROUGH PAIN THAT YOU CANNOT IMAGINE UNLESS YOU HAVE IT!!!! Don't just give them stuff to give them stuff. You will be a better for it and way more respected and liked by your patients. your supposed to be there to help.

Well I have been on methadone for over 25 years from an opiate addiction and have switched between every possible manufacturer. I have had the big orange biscuits, the big white biscuits, the red liquid, the tic tac rectangles, the 54 142's, and now the asc 116's, and so sorry Danielson, the dude is right, 10mg is 10mg. I have objectively analyzed how I felt, and there is NO difference whatsoever. It is in the mind ONLY, unless, however, you are allergic or somehow sensitive to the inert ingredients. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

maybe one is generic and the other is the original. i find generics aren't the same with the drug effects. Also i mix up different pain killers. just by changing the pain chemical makeup will help with pain relief. your body gets used to the chems and a change helps out in relief. I have been on them all and I was last on Morphine generic and i didn't think it work well. i changed to Methadone and that works better and longer. easier to detox on Methadone but the point is to be pain free. If u had high blood pressure , u would be taking BP meds for the rest of your life. is that an addiction too?U take meds to give you a life worth lifing. People not in pain 100% of the time don't understand and will call u names like "drug addict" etc, it hurts. if u are not walking in my shoes then shut up.!!!! Good luck but enjoy life, it goes by fast and no one should tell u different. :)

Like I said, How can it have been in my head, when I did not know their was a brand change at first. All I know is my meds stopped working, and even at twice the dose did not work. After about 4 days of agony I examined the pills closely and saw the asc116. So weeks later I get my 54142's and I got relief at the regular dose. In addition I have had a college professor studying chronic pain, an addiiction treatment doctor and a pharmacist tell me that technically the drugs are the same but how they r put together with other inactive ingrediants can alter how your body absorbs and reacts to the drug. Last but not least I have read several articles about quality. It is like anything else. Like Bordens Milk is awesome. Great Value milk is s***. They are both milk but there is a noticeable difference. Why do people comment so strongly when they really do not know. If you have not exeperience what I have with this situation, then I am happy for you that is great. However just because you did not have a problem does not mean that there is no problem. We all react differently to chemistry products

The active ingredient is not exact as well. There is a 20% leeway the manufactures are given either way. Obviously it would typically be less than. I can't believe you guys say they are the same when they are far from it. Maybe u didn't know but now u do. And if u have never taken it u would know. Very frustrating.

So far so good at consistently get Roxane brand at CVS. Seems thats the only methadone brand they carry...at least in my neighborhood.
The ASC brand should be banned.
Each to our own opinion. Hope everyone gets pain relief somehow and God bless us all. Chronic pain robs us all of a decent life. Worrying about medications, how to pay for them, doctors treating us like crap and be accused of being addicts .....it's heartbreaking and depressing.
