Hi i am 22 yrs old and I started having periods at the age of 12 yrs. Since menarche I am having these irregular periods with heavy flow.at first my periods are not there for 2 to 3 months and than when it comes it goes on for a month or even longer till I have taken some medicine for it to stop.i have used oral contraceptive pills in order to regulate my cycle but it didn't seem to be of much use.recently a gynaecologist said that maybe I am a milder case of pcos and she put me on diane 35 and metformin. So I take Glucophage 500mg 1x per day, years ago they gave me Metformin which gave me stomach cramps & dirrahhea. yet my doctor & pharmacist said I am crazy and the symptoms are all in my head! I found out the fillers are NOT the same. What does Metformin 1000 mg look like in all forms? ## Metformin is a generic medication, so it is manufactured by several different companies and they will all have different markings to enable their identification, thus there is really no way I could post what all of them look like and the descriptions. Just to give you a few examples... White, oblong, 93 on one side, 7214 on the opposite. White, oblong, GP 128. Oblong white tablet marked only 142 Is it metformin? ## yes it is a slow release metformin ## There is a tablet manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals with this marking that they list as containing 500mgs of Metformin, which is most commonly used to help lower and control blood sugar levels. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, and hypoglycemia. Some stamped with 13. 2. Some stamped with 1 47 what's the difference? ## Yes, Teva Pharmaceuticals lists the tablet with 93 7214 on it as containing 100mgs of Metformin, which is most commonly used to help lower blood sugar levels. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Karen, while I have been able to find a 1,000mg tablet with 132 on it, I cannot find any with 147 on it. Are there any other markings on the tablet in question, or possibly a logo?

is it safeto take this medicine if you are on blood pressure meds that also has a diaretic in it? ## It really depends on the exact ingredient of the blood pressure medications. I did check the interactions between Metformin and several of them and, so far, they have all come up with the same warning that if the patience experiences any type of renal impairment and dehydration, it can increase the likelihood of Lactic Acidosis. Have you asked your doctor or pharmacist about this? I am 53yrs old male.I was detected with DM2 3 yrs back.I am on medication since then. In April, doctor advised me to take Galvus met 50/850mg before breakfast and Metformin SR 850mg in d evening. I'm trying to identify a pill that is a polygon & light orange with 4 on one side and SB on the other. ## I have been a diabetic for the last 13 years & started using 500 mg Metformin, then moved to 850mg twice daily along with Glimepiride 1 mg once a day. Metformin ER 500mg 90 day supply has IP 178 on back from AFB in Little Rock,AR. MetF ER Glucophage 500 mg has 142 on the back of the pill from the same place at a different date. Does the number on the back change? ## The pharmacey you use may just use a couple different companies to get their medications from, I am on meds and from time to time my pills are different but just from different manufacturers same pharmacy. I am 46 and suddenly had a sugar spike to over 315 (fasting), triglycerides over 300; I have been put on a jalra-m 50/1000 dose twice daily. Feeling weak with muscle weakness but doc said it's normal. I've got pcos and am married. I was taking metformin from the past 6 months and my periods got regular now. I have been taking Metformin XR 500 MG for about 2 years after having an issue with nausea with regular Metformin. In an effort to lower my reliance on meds I began cutting the 500 MG pill in half about 6 months ago and in the last 2 mos have had constant nausea and some diarrhea. Stopped Metformin about 6 weeks ago but still having same issues. Nausea level is about 3-5 on a scale of 1-10. It appears that I should not have split the pills in half. I have been on this drug for almost 4 weeks now. I have had diahrea really bad. It is always like water. Everything I eat goes straight through. I have been taking anti diarhea pills with no help. I have lost ten pounds. Hi, i've been using triphasil for 3 months. I took them every morning at half past ten. I'll notice many side effects. I lost weight everyday. When I went back the Dr gave me pills I'm not familiar with (trigesterel). I changed from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm.
