I take Metformin and recently the doctor prescribed in 500 mg doses. I now have pills with 93 on one side made by TEVA and I have a 1000 mg tab with 93 on one side and 72 14 on the other - who is the mfg of the 1000 mg tablet. I am not having the same results with the 500 mg that i had with the 1000 mg and it is believed the mfg may be the difference. ## Sorry that is one I do not take, I do know mfg. makes aHUGE dif. in how it works, metabolises in organs, I seen this and just had a similar prob. with thyroid meds. Ask dr. change back, may be your body with that brand, fix it,be glad you noticed.:) ## Actually, both of the tablets you have are manufactured by TEVA, the 93 is their former logo and TEVA is their new one, they have been gradually changing the logos on all their medications...

I found a white pill that is blank on one side and has MET 500 with a line dividing the pill in half; MET above the line and 500 below. Can you tell me what this is and how harmful it can be if taken by the wrong person? ## The pill in description is Metformin hydrochloride (500 mg); which is an oral anti-diabetic drug in the biguanide class. How harmful this drug can be (to a random individual) is determined by how healthy or unhealthy the individual taking it is and how many of these pills they consume.... My mother takes 1 tablet Norsulin 500mg Metformin with 2.5 mg of Glipzide daily 15 minutes before breakfast and half-tablet before lunch. This was prescribed by her doctor. She says that after taking the tablet she feels not only dizzy and drowsy but also very weak. Are these normal and usual side-effects of the drug? Or does this mean her sugar level plummets everytime she takes the talet? Thanks. ## The dizziness and drowsiness can be normal side effects, but the weakness may mean that her blood sugar is dropping too low. What are her sugar readings at these times? Has she contacted her doctor, yet?

I called the pharmacy that I always order from and they they told me they had no recalls on these 500 mg Metformion tabs by TEVA and there was nothing they could do. ## Joyce,i cant believe if the vitamins smelled bad,the pharmacist wouldnt refund your money back to u. ## Metformin is not a vitamin, it is an oral antidiabetic medication. Actually, it is completely normal for this medication to have a very bad odor. Many companies just manage to keep you from smelling it by putting a coating on the tablets, so the smell never reaches your nostrils. In this case, these pills may not have the coating or it may not be as thick as normal. Are there any other questions or comments?

BEING VERY CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING THIS DISEASE, I WAS CURIOUS WHETHER THIS MEDICATION CAN HELP WITH MY RECENT WEIGHT LOSS OF CLOSE TO 7 LBS.
