What type of foods do you eat? That can have a great effect of your sugar level, because the medication isn't going to do every thing. What dose of Metformin do you take?
Is it possible to get a prescription for Metforman/glucophage online or to find it online? I am worried, because I have been gaining weight rapidly this past year. I am morbidly obese, and my doctors will not help me because my A1c was only 5.5. I am worried about type 2 diabetes, and I think my A1c is high enough that medicine may benefit me, even though I am technically not diabetic yet. I have read about diabetics who get their A1c below 5.5 with metformin, and there seem to be no adverse affects even when they continue taking the medicine at these levels. I am also having problems with ovulation and was recently diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia, a condition associated with insulin resistance. I have been struggling to conceive for three years now. Ultrasound shows no evidence ...

I am 71 but very active, I am also diabetic type 2 and take metformin and glibencizide every morning and evening. My doctor gave me lisinopril 10mg and bisocor 2.5 mg (half a tablet) for high blood pressure, I am keeping it at approx 125/75 with this medicine. My blood sugar is between 5 and 7 mml and my blood tests are okay. I have had a stress testfor my heart and that was okay, I am overweight at 110kg but am trying to lose weight. I feel shaky inside and lacklustre, could my medicine be causing a reaction. Every time I see my doctor, he sends me for tests and basically they all come back okay. I am not a whining hypochondriac, just a normal guy who would like to feel normal. I live in Zimbabwe where the medical facilities are not that great.

What is the difference between metformin hcl 850 & metformin her 1000? ## Hi Guzman, To answer your question Metformin HCL stands for "Hydrochloride", which from what I could gather, is used as a base to make the pills water-soluble. I haven't come across any specific details on what "HER" would stand for after the drug name. Are you sure it doesn't just say "ER" for extended release? Other than the obvious difference in the dosage you mentioned, the presence of Hydrochloride appears to be the primary difference between the two tablets. Outside of that, there might also be a different set of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) used. Although, one would have to look up the pill ID in order to get more information on that. You can learn more about th...
I have a round white metformin pill with a large or capitol H and the number 102 is it 500 mg. I have always had the oblong pill ## Hello, Firechief! How are you? Yes, this is listed as being a 500mg Metformin tablet, it's manufactured by Heritage Pharmaceuticals. It is normal for your pharmacy to sometimes provide you with medication from a different manufacturer, because whichever one they have in stock will depend on who was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. It is how they keep prices as low as possible for customers without insurance. Is there anything else I can help with?

what is the osm type of metformin er can't find anything on it and my NP can't either except it costs very much ## OSM is used to designate it as being osmotic, it's used to make sure that you get a maximum extended/time released formulation of the medication. That's why it costs more, it's not a typical generic, because it doesn't have the usual leeway that they are allowed to have, it is tested more rigorously and adheres to much stricter release requirements. Is there anything else I can help with?
WHY SHOULDN'T PEOPLE OVER 80 TAKE METFORMIN? PLEASE GIVE AS MANY OF THE REASONS INVOLVED AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU ## Elderly people can be much more sensitive to the effects of the medication, which could cause dangerously low blood sugar levels. In many cases, doctors will have them stop using these types of medications and switch to something such as insulin, so they can monitor their blood sugar and make easier dosage adjustments, as needed. Additionally, elderly people can be more susceptible to renal damage and failure, while taking oral antidiabetic medications. Are there any other questions or concerns?
Walmart in US is d/c this brand Sandoz Metformin GP 124. Pl. let me know if you are aware of a pharmacy which still has this brand. thanks ## Hello, Minuma! How are you? It's not that a pharmacy really discontinues carrying any brand, but that they will carry whichever one was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. Thus, if another company underbid Sandoz, they are now the one that Wal-Mart carries. However, you can try asking them if they can order it back in for you. What is your general location? That would enable someone to suggest a pharmacy if they know of one that has it in stock in your area.
I was prescribed Metformin and was told to take 500 MG twice a day with breakfast and dinner. I am having a hard time remembering to take it with dinner, is it okay to take both at one time? ## Hello, Bethany! How are you? No, it needs to be taken at a different time of day to help gain better control of your blood sugar levels, which is why you were told to take it at breakfast time and at dinner time. However, if you are having that much of a problem remembering, you should contact your doctor about it. There is a time released formulation of this medication that they may be able to prescribe for you as an alternative, so you'd only need to take it once a day. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Okay thank you! I don't take it because I am diabetic, I take it because I ...

My brother had a urine test and was told he had traces of drugs as in Benzodiozine. He takes Metformin, Bezalipmono, and Simvastatin. Please someone tell me if Metformin is the cause? This is urgent as may jeopardise his job! Thank you. ## If you got a false positive for benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Valium) whoever did the test should have send it to a lab for a GC/MS confirmation. It would probably be best to get a consult from and medical review officer MRO. An MRO is a doctor trained to interpret drug test results and say what might be causing a false positive. Was the test a urine dip test like you can find at the store. If so it definitely should have been sent to a lab for GC/MS confirmation. GC/MS is the "gold standard" for any type of drug testing.
When this tablet to be taken? Before meal or after meal? ## Hello, how are you? Unless your doctor has instructed otherwise, this should be taken just before a meal. That way it has a chance to start working by the time you are digesting your food, which is when you'd normally experience the biggest blood sugar fluctuations. Learn more Metformin details here. Learn more Glimepiride details here. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, flatulence and low blood sugar. Is there anything else I can help with?
