Metformin - Not Diabetic - In Pain

I have been taking Metformin for 3 weeks, Week 1 500mg a day, Week 2 1000mg a day, Week 3 2000mg a day. I am not diabetic. I am on medication for allergies which makes me gain weight. I have ballooned up to 103kg and I am only 5"4 and 24 years of age. For the last 3 weeks I have been curled over in pain (abdominal & back), I can't sleep and sometimes cant make it to work as I am in too much pain to get up the stairs and out the front door... When does it stop feeling so awful??

Hello, Angelina! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you're so miserable.

Please see your doctor, as soon as possible. That severe pain is not a normal side effect of Metformin and might indicate a bad reaction to it, or that you are suffering from some other health problem. It's normal side effects include nausea, dizziness, hypoglycemia and flatulence.

What allergy medication are you taking that's made you gain so much weight?
