Metformin Side Effects
UpdatedI am non diabetic but obese 48-year-old female. My doctor gave me Glucomet 500 mg half tablet morning and half tablet in the night for weight reduction. Is it safe for a non diabetic to take diabetic medicine?

HI, Malathi!
Yes, it's safe as long as your doctor is going to be supervising you regularly.
When it's used in such cases, it's due to your doctor suspecting that you may be insulin resistant, thus an antidiabetic medication may help improve your situation and enable you to lose weight.
You may experience some side effects from it, such as nausea, headache and flatulence.
Is there anything else I can help with?
