Meloxicam & Clonazepam

I take 0.5mg of Clonazepam for anxiety. Is it safe to take Meloxicam as well? My Dr. prescribed it to me for back, neck and all over pain due to herniated discs and a bulging disc.

I've been taking the Meloxicam for a little over a week. Unfortunately it has not helped at all. Can I just stop taking it?

Hi Mel. My pleasure to be of assistance! By my last statement (re: contradict one another) - I was just referring to the idea that I didn't think your doctor would have prescribed two medications that don't work well together...

Some doctors do make mistakes though, so I guess it is still within the realm of possibility, but in my humble opinion and research, it doesn't seem likely that there'd be any problem taking those two meds together.

Hi, thanks for your response. What do you mean they contradict each other?

One is for GAD (general anxiety disorder) I've been on that for a long time. The Other is for pain due to two herniated disc's in my neck and a bulging disc in my back.

Hi Mel,

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Meloxicam and Clonazepam.

This doesn't necessarily mean that no interactions exist, so it's probably best to discuss any concerns with your doctor first. However, I don't see why your doctor would prescribe two meds that contradict one another in such a way.

I also haven't come across any information suggesting that it's unsafe in my own investigation.
