I had taken a muscle relaxer many years ago for my back. I remember the pill was either pink or red and oblong. I dont remember the name of it. I am currently suffering from sciatica and my doctor doesnt want to prescribe me a muscle relaxer because they make you drowsy. I remember this muscle relaxer did not make me drowsy so I want to tell him about it and maybe have him perscribe it for me. Only problem is I need to know what its called. If anyone can help please.

I took one similar to what you've described, it was Skelaxin, which is used as a muscle relaxant, it contains the active ingredient Metaxalone. NDC code: 10544-524-20
Does that look familiar?
It is now available as a generic, so they don't all look the same.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, dry mouth, and dizziness.
It never made me drowsy, either, which is why I liked it.
