Mazon Cream
Updatedfor eczema, psoriasis- seeping, cracking, blistering skin- I personally used it from the age of 6 mos. in 1955 to 1988, then it disappeared from shelves- it was an over the counter cream and it really worked. At the age of 3 months my skin would swell, crack and seep a clear liquid- a pediatrician introduced the cream to my mother and at the time they had a bar soap, shampoo and cream-of which I used occasionally over the course of 30 years then all of a sudden it disappeared. I did have part of a jar I used sparingly and guarded with my life and I called the company that made the cream and they said that they took the recipe out of circulation. The jar is long gone- sadly and I do not know the name of the pharmaceutical company that originally made it. I now am entering menopause and my skin has flared up out of control and cortisone creams makes my skin thin and easily bruised beneath the surface which is just as unsightly as the redness, swelling and seeping but not as painful. I really long for a good skin product. Mazon was a beige cream that resembled the inside of a milky way candy bar and I believe if I remember correctly that it was a tar based cream. I have tried other tar based ointments but the oily bases tend to only create more problems- even cortisone ointment does not work only the cream- but prolonged use has so many other negative effects- as I stated above thin skin, easily bruised-like blood looks like elderly skin that has a blood spill beneath the first layer of skin and I also notice very hairy growth from the cortisone on the forearms- thank goodness I'm a blonde. Anyway, do you know of this product Mazon or one similar that has been known to have good results??? Help Please send me any information on anything comparable- have you ever heard of MAZON cream??? Is it available again, if so where?
I ordered it from a Canadian Pharmacy on line for $7.00 plus shipping. My druggist said he could order it. His price was $14.95. It IS available. Ask your local pharmacist.
Carole, the company that makes Mazon products is Dannorth Laboratories Inc. Crombie Kennedy Nasmark Inc. Markham, Ontario L3R 3B1 in Canada.
You can buy all 3 types of Mazon products here at a website for Granville Wellness...

I read your post and think I also may have found the solution to my problem. The prescriptions aren't helping and the side effects are adding up for me as well.
I live in Regina Saskatchewan, I use the cream, and you can get it at walmart here
Mazon users unite. I used it from 1952-1969. I had skin allergies so bad and mazon made it feel cool and helped my skin so much. I can still recall the smell. I just placed an order for some, I am so excited to use it again.
I have bone spurs. Had shock wave therapy, no help. Does anyone have an answer?
So glad to hear from someone who also used Mazon cream...I used it for my exzema from the time I was a baby until a teenager and now that I'm 60....it's really flared again...I'm going to try to find it as it worked so well and share it with my grandson and grandaughter who also have the same problem...I hope it works as well for them as it always did for me.
I also used Mazon as a baby thru teenage. Now my grand children are suffering with exzemz and know it would help them. My question is how do we get it available in the drug stores.
I cannot believe the story I just read about having the problem from 3 months on and I also remember the color it had , the clay like texture. But the best was when My Mom opened the blue jar and a distinctive odor came from within, but through the years I knew that when I smelled Mazon cream, I knew when I woke up in the morning, that my pain would be gone, no more cracked skin or red painful spots that split my skin open, I loved that smell, relief!
Wow...I thought I was the only one in the world that remembered this product! My Mom always put in on my psoriasis from as far back as I can remember. She put it on my face and I remember licking it off because it tasted kind of sweet...and yes that smell.I'm 56 now,and will buy it again. Also have used those cortisone creams and had similar side effects. So glad it's still around.Mazon rocks!
I used Mazon on my eczema when I was around 5 or 6 in the 1950's(I'm 63 now) and it worked. Then they took the tar or lead or something out of it and it didn't work as well. Does anyone know what it was they took out or when? I've always wondered if I had lead poisoning from it. I have gout now and am trying to figure out what is causing it.
Thanks Lori!
I live in Levis, Quebec and I also found it today at Wal-Mart for $7.97
Mazon has a website: http://www.dannorthlabs.com/mazon.html
Just bought Mazon cream at the Walmart store in Ottawa Ontario Canada. It is definitely available again, and the soap was there too!!
I've been having skin problems and have been trying oatmeal, green tea
Soap, prescription creams and pills , and i saw this soap and am gonna give it a shot.
Bought it today at a shoppers in Toronto, Ontario.
It's 5$.. On sale for 1.50...!!!
i too was raised on mazon: had eczema was born in the 1950's and had eczema as a baby from head to toe. what was going on in the 1950's that there was such a surge? as it turns out, i was allergic to the protein in the cow's milk formula i was fed day in and day out. didn't figure it out for 20 years.
I have an old jar of Mazon and the list of ingredients on the box are Mercury Ammoniated (1/3gr. to oz.) Sodium Stearate, Acid Benzoic, Acid Salicylate, Tars. Probably taken off the market due to the mercury.
I have been using mazon for years...it's the only thing that worked...I have alittle bit of psoriasis left on my arms and since I have paid for 3 jars from one place in canada and 1 jar from another I have yet to receive either the creme or my money back...they said they cannot get it in stock then they should not take orders for it until they do have it...I am starting to have blood cracks and discomfort...I need this creme it's the only thing that actually helped clear it up so well...now 3 years of using this creme is fading away because the weather takes a toll on me..If you find any place that sells it regardless of the price please email me assap
My daughter had terrible diaper rash. After many creams and lotions did not work-another DR. recommended Mazon cream, It did the trick, This was also in 1958. I cannot find it here in the states. What happened?
I found Mazon Cream and Mazon Soap in a recent catalog. My mother raves about this stuff. I misplaced catalog cover, but phone # is 1-802-362-8440. Soap (3 bars) is item H2694, Cream 3.5 oz jar) is item H43502.
Good luck!
I have been recently informed that MAZON cream will continue to be manufactured. I've been emailed by Dannorth Labs that MAZON cream will be available early 2012 on there website mazon-online.com

I think it might have been mercury.
Re: Lynn Harper (# 11)
The orignal Mazon had mercury in it.

I was born in 1937 and had eczema covering my body from head to toe almost from birth. The only medication that gave me any relief was Mason. I used it continuously until I was about twenty years old and I haven’t had any problems since then. Mason was the only medication that worked. To bad it isn’t available today.
Re: Debbie (# 10)
Yes, I too thought that I was the only one that remembered it.
I had the same experience. During the 1950s, as a child I suffered from an unsightly and itchy rash affecting the crooks of my elbows, back of my neck and ears, lips, and scalp seemingly resulting from a citrus fruit allergy. My parents took me to many doctors but found nothing continuously effective. A pharmacist at a local drugstore happened to mention Mazon soap and salve to my mother. And voila', my troubles were gone. Then Mazon products "mysteriously" disappeared. I eventually outgrew the rash. However, I have rare minor outbreaks very infrequently. Hopefully, because of this MedsChat, I may be able to find and purchase the products again. O happy possible day!
Re: Sandy (# 59)
I used mazon as a child due to eczema. There are times I wish I could get a jar. I do remember a very stinky smell to it. But it sure helped my rash. In reading the articles here, I was surprised to learn it had mercury in it.
Yes, I used Amazon Cream I had eczema. I had been going to the doctors to find a cure. I had used one salve after another that was mixed by a pharmacist that only worsened the condition until a friend suggested to use Mazon. We did and could not believe the improvement the following morning. The eczema cleared up.
Then again 20 years later once again eczema this time Mazon did not work, by this time cortisone was available. Now once again eczema has appeared and I wanted to try Mazon. Sorry I don’t have better news for you.

I am also searching for this product. It worked so well and then, as you say, vanished...and was replaced with inferior products that don't work at all.
