Massachusetts North Shore - Doctor That Prescribes Methadone For Severe Back Pain Withdrawals (Page 2)
UpdatedI have been on hydrocodone 30mg for about 3 years and started small but is now up to 4 a day just to feel fine and it has got very expensive and cant afford to do them anymore and it cost me my job... i literally cant get out of bed the withdrawals are so bad the back pain and restless arms and legs are the worse.. I have tried to quit 3 or 4 times now, once i bought 10 suboxone off a buddy and tried and only made 4 days and i vomited almost every day because it taste so nasty... i got out of detox on 1/17/13 and tried staying off but only lasted 2 days until i couldnt do it anymore and the detox center gave me methadone and it really helped and i need to get back to work have tons of bills that havent been paid in a while....I've been trying to go to the clinic but had to wait for insurance and now waiting for an available appointment for intake and is just taking forever plus it is gonna suck having to drive there every day......is there any doctors near north shore in massachusetts that can help me out with a monthly or weekly prescription for methadone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Please help me find a doctor I'm from mass and need pain doc fad took my doc down and he was great helped a lo of people in pain please help
WOW, you have obviously never had a serious back problem or debilitating migraines. I have both. I have tried most of the meds Drs prefer to prescribe for migraines and they have bad side effects. Did you know that it is contraindicated to take aleve if you're over 50 years old, have a history of heart disease in your family or are obese? I have ALL that it's in my medical chart yet time and time again Drs try to tell me to take it. If I have taken something in the past and it WORKS, why on gods green Earth would I not be allowed to ask for it and have it be prescribed?
Your statement that opiates don't work for migraines is just untrue. it is the only thing that takes my migraines away 100% without bad side effects. Without it, I'm in bed all day, can't even watch TV or get out of bed for days on end, in horrible pain that makes me feel like I must be dying! I agree that there is probably some underlying medical problem causing the migraines. but NONE of the Drs I have gone to over a 35 year period EVER did anything to try and find the cause and fix that or work on that. I would PREFER that. Pain after all is the bodies way of letting you know something is wrong.
I have never become addicted to any med, I take as prescribed and I get furious that people in pain are all assumed to be addicts. I think patients should be prescribed opiates if their condition warrents it THEN if they show signs of being addicted deal with it then. Don't make people suffer in horrible pain when there is something that can help them that is just wrong on every level. how bout next time you get a root canal or surgery go without any opiates, then you'll truly know the plight of those of us in long term chronic pain if only for a day or 2.
You cant drive either.. spend your money on driving lessons.
Was it Dr. Mashali? I can't find a good Dr. since he got locked up.
Heyy just saw this post, if you could give me the name of that doctor that would be great! I am in Saugus, I go to a clinic here. It's obviously a huge hassle to get up and go every day, but it works if you want it to. But to not be able to go to the clinic and just have it as a prescription would be marvelous LOL. But then again you don't get the treatment aspect of a methadone clinic, groups, counseling, and most importantly tapering you down from the methadone when you're ready The right way!
You must work in the medical field in some form and just like most in the medical community i swear you got your md from a crackerjack box or barely graduated med school. I am a true chronic pain paitient dur to severe tramatic injury to my thoracic spine and neck and 3 out of 4 of my limbs and have had a dozen ortho surgerys with more to come and people w/ attitudes like you and true junkies and addicts makes it almost impossible for people like me to be taken seriously or get the right treatment. Luckily i have some good doctors but i to have to have my pain managed w/ oxy for breakthrough and done for long lasting and have to get it at a clinic and i shouldn't have to be exposed to that environment and have to listen to the bs the comes out of addict's mouths.
You have to move to California.State law SB 402 !
Dr rob you rapped up this whole f@@king opiate thing in a nutshell!!!! There is really nothing else to say. Thanks for your coment.oxy80s ten years 30oxycodone 3 years.now i go to methadone clince 125 mg per day im fine. I recomend it to any1!!!! An i was using h.
Please stay away from methadone they are silent killers. You will go to sleep and not wake up.try subutex that will help you much better, all day relief.
Dr Simon Fayzilburg- Newburyport is an excellent pain management doc w a clinic - I'd recommend getting in there.
Hello, I am a 41 year old man who has already had 2 surgeries for chronic osteoarthritis. Shoulder surgery was 10/2014 and elbow surgery was just last month. My doctor says I need a shoulder replacement but I'm too young.
You are not correct on your statement about back pain not being a reason for opiate use or regiment. Actually I believe you have no idea at all what it's like to live with chronic pain and you are looking down on these people as drug addicted criminals, get a grip man really. I hope you're not actually a doctor cause I'd hate to have to rely on you for understanding my condition. And if that description of medication increase came out of one of your patients medical files then double shame on you....
This is for rob.
U sound just like an a hole doctor I saw once. Sorry. Couldn't help.
Some of what u say is true. Some of it might be true. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOMETHING BEING DETERMINED AND PROOF!
I walked on the sides of my feet and had to hold my hands up so the blood wouldn't POUND AND CAUSE HORRIFIC PAIN. I did this for 4 yrs. I tried every single thing suggested to me from acupuncture to juicing to tends units to off label med treatment vitamins
Muscle relaxers swimming touch therapy , praying.
When this first started I weighed 130 lbs 5 ft 8 in. Back packed all over the cascades and Olympic mnt used jog 4 miles a day played sports ran a HEALTHFOOD STORE for 8 yrs! I didn't not want to take western meds. Especially pain medication.
By the time my husband CARRIED me into a pain clinic I weighed less than 90 lbs. I was desperate for pain relief.
The pain did not go away or correct itself.
I was put on 30 mgs of methadone and 5 mg oxycodone inbeteen if I needed it.
OMG. I was SO GREATFUL to be able to sleep at night. I was able to get my job back and opened my own biz.
I have been on the same dose for 15 yrs. minus the oxycodone. . Didn't seem to need it. Didn't help so why take it.
This last summer my doctor was shut down. He's a certified pain doctor by the book.
He fought it, Washington state and is back in open again.
Thank god.
Know way will I let myself suffer like I did all those years ago.
I suffered for way to long.
I don't owe it to anyone to suffer. No one. I was ready to take my life if I could not get some relief from something !
I would do it now. My life of pain 24/7 was no life.
Some how these laws need to be modified.
Make Perdue pay. They are the pharmacuitical manufacter that told the drs that OxyContin was be less addictive.
The drs told their patients this.
Then the truth came out. Perdue LIED. was fined over 600 million dollars for that lie!
That lie jump started the addiction of OxyContin. then other drugs.
Perdue was the catalyst.
Make them pay for treatment too.
Sorry didn't mean to blast u.
But heard all that mostly BS that u posted.
U must not be a chronic pain patient.
Or must work in the field and have seen mass "addiction."
But much of what u say just isn't true.
IMO.
Looking for an MD in Fall River, New Bedford Mass. I have three herniated disc lower back and an old broke down neck injury. I have been on many different types of pain meds. Currently and for many years Oxycodone 20mg 4× daily. I live in Mass and my physician office is no longer prescribing these meds. So, I am in search of doctor's who will work with me to help with my chronic pain (medically noted in my medical records). I am a 58 year old male. I do not abuse or sell my meds. Please help....
hi i live in central ma an my dr will perscribe me my methadone but my insurance won't pay for it an being on me health the won't let me pay for my methadone i'm lost and att an end ???? PLEASE HELP
Lawrence,
You need to clarify your post.Is it being
Prescribed for pain control or as an agent for addiction management purposes?? Unless your draw the distinction we are unable to provide direction or advise. Post back if you wish to share that information.
Dimas,
You will need to get a referal for a pain management specialist from your primary care doctor or whomever is currently prescribing your Rx. Most
Doctors are moving away from prescribing powerful opiate/opiod's that your accustomed to,but a pain specialist has more latitude in what they can and are willing to prescribe.Unfortunately for those in the northeast USA these doctors are getting harder to find even with a documented history but family or general practice doctors are under increased scrutiny by those regulatory agencies tasked with drug enforcement
Well said!! Drug seekers and doctor shopping is what made it hard for the true chronic pain patients to get the meds we need. I have had 8 lumbar spinal surgeries, DDD, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, scar tissue, 3 bulging disks, broken tailbone, broken bottom vertebrae, severe nerve damage in right leg and foot, mild to severe in left. Handicap plaque, I need a scooter in grocery store, wheelchair for anything past 50ft, I walk like I am drunk, I stand up and 75% of the time I fall back down.
I also get migraine headaches, opiates do nothing! Advil, frozen bags of peas and a dark quiet room. Migraines, where it hurts to lie down.
If only opiates help your migraines, you should get your neck checked. You may have herniated a disc.
You probably vomited because you need to not have any opiates in your system for 24-36 hours. Suboxone must 1st be taken while in detox, or you will puke. Under your tongue, starting at a low dose. Within 30 minutes you will feel so much better.
