Don't know where YOU'VE been lately, but you can't be "assured" of anything pertaining to these pain meds, in my own terrible experience, the norco 10-325 especially. I have severe pain issues, & was given a new generic brand by Aurobindo pharma & these are extremely defective, to say the least. I don't need to hear about fillers or binders either. When this terrible stuff gives me a migraine headache, & no pain relief at all - something is terribly wrong. Perhaps you work for the industry in some form, & don't need the meds yourself, because if you had an experience like I did you would not believe all the shady excuses that some people are throwing out here.when you're a person in real pain, you know when there's something very wrong with some of these defective meds. Sure the FDA is supposed to check quality & safety, yeah right. Their to busy with they're so - called war on opioid and not so concerned about real pain patients. That's terrible.
Re: Lynn Pain (# 3)
You are speaking the truth! I can't do much when I take medicine that suppose to relieve pain. But cause body aches & head aches. This is sad. They want us to be in poor health & mental status down
The 10mg/325 Qualitest is by far the better painkiller, less Tylenol....It's very good!
Re: Lynn Pain (# 3)
my Rx. today was mrf by Aurobindo 10-325. I have a spinal cord injury after many surgeries still pain. On my diections today says to take 2 every 4 hours. I now have a bad migraine so no meds the rest of the day. No this will not work for me so I guess I am panicking I can't live with this pain.
Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference is that they are manufactured by different companies. Additionally, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage.
When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it.
Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may agree with one medication over the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves.
I hope this info helps answer your question!
Re: David (# 1)
I found different inactive Ingredients of the different generic brands of the same drugs I was taking; some of them caused me side effects and made me feel sick!
And interestingly the Sandoz brand of Atenolol that I never got side effects from and that I've been taking for almost a year, only has 4 inactive ingredients, but the Zydus brand that made me feel sick has 6!

DailyMed - METOPROLOL TARTRATE tablet, film coated METOPROLOL TARTRATE- metoprolol tartrate tablet, film coated
Mechanism of Action: Metoprolol tartrate is a beta 1-selective (cardioselective) adrenergic receptor blocker. This preferential effect is not absolute, however, and at higher plasma concentrations, metoprolol tartrate also inhibits beta 2-adrenoreceptors, chiefly located in the bronchial and vascular musculature. Clinical pharmacology studies have demonstrated the beta-blocking activity of...

Hypertension. Atenolol tablets, USP are indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure lowers the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.
Pharmacodynamics. In standard animal or human pharmacological tests, beta-adrenoreceptor blocking activity of atenolol has been demonstrated by: (1) reduction in resting and exercise heart rate and cardiac output, (2) reduction of systolic and diastolic blood pressure at rest and on exercise, (3) inhibition of isoproterenol induced tachycardia, and (4) reduction in reflex orthostatic tachycardia.

Re: David (# 1)
There are a ton of testimonies by many patients going back to 2010 up to the present about how they suffered bad side effects and or ineffectiveness when their pharmacies so wrongly switched to a different generic brand of the same drug, of all different drugs. One person who also got bad side effects from a switch, said pharmacies have no right to play games with people's health like this, switching generic brands to get the cheapest deals, they then said especially when it comes to hypertension medicines!
Could changing generic brands of metoprolol tartrate cause problems?
Started feeling bad and different (more disoriented, numbness, sleep problems) a few days after my latest refill of metoprolol tartrate and now I notice pharmacy changed my generic brand from Mylan to Caraco.
I read on WebMD recently, that manufacturers of generic drugs have to have the same "main ingredients" as Brand name. They can add coloring, or change size and shape, but, otherwise have to work like the Brand. I have been taking meds for over 28+ yrs and some Brands feel better, but, most generics work just fine.
Teva worked the best but is not being produced. Many brands of the generic made me dizzy and nauseous until I found the company Teva. Bad news, Teva stopped making the tablet and only makes the generic extended release and my insurance company doesn't cover it.
Can different manufacturers of same generic drugs have different side effects?
Absolutely!! It's difficult to find information confirming this, but I can speak from personal experience in saying that with some medications I have noticed differences in efficacy and side effects when I have had to change to a different pharmacy that uses a different manufacturer for their generics.
Can I ask my pharmacy to change from one generic brand to another generic brand?
Though my doctor prescribed Sprintec (a generic brand of OrthoCyclen), the pharmacy gave me Mononessa (another generic) instead. So far it is going very well for me and I want to continue to take this brand instead of Sprintec.
