Ms Contin Prescription Withdrawal (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Im a 58 yr old woman. I'm bipolar, reclusive and my husband is an over the road trucker. 4 years ago i was put on Percocet 10/325. The dr missed a broken shoulder bone so i switched Drs who added MS Contin. I had rotator cuff surgery but within 3 months I went to bed at Thanksgiving and woke up at the hospital on Xmas. I had severe pneumonia - they induced the coma as my oxygen was mid 60s, and after 3 chest tubes failed, they had to go in and physically debride my lung. So besides shoulder to wrist pain I have phantom nerve pain over that scar.

My dr told me the nerves cant connect. I don't take street drugs, nor seek drugs, but my vision is bad and my husband left a tablet in a dish by my chair which i thought was a Percocet and took it. Well, it wasn't. I knew i was going to have a UA on my next visit, but due to this, (and there is no way whatever was left in my system was high levels at all) he dismissed me as a patient and will not even talk to me nor offer advice how to quit. My husband took me to the ER Saturday night because I woke up screaming because my calves were cramped like rocks. Last year in a trip that got delayed i ran out of meds for about 8 days and i know whats coming next.

I have NO ONE to even keep an eye on me let alone help me. I don't think i can survive either physically or mentally. I've tried calling doctors, the hospital, and no one cares. I'm older, just a bottom feeder in Purdue's pharmaceutical ruin of this country. Other than writing a will, is there ANY help for me? I have no family. Although my Dr knew i needed mental services (esp after the coma), none were provided. What do i do? Im running out of time and energy.. help me please.

Thank you so very much but it apppears the DEA trumps any hippotahtic post, and the er could careless if you have seizures..Its called pass the buck. I went to my Dr on our scheduled appt and i wasnt even.permitted to see him, but ive kept really.accurate journal, because besides being bipolar. I.also have COPD and when startled or scared my throat closes up.One day last summer i was in that area, i felt really odd, had a hard time breathing and got a bit frightened so i pulled into his 4 Dr practice and asked if they would please check my blood /ox, now mind you

Oh I'm sorry I hope you don't mean me? For I am not judging you at all. I am also bipolar and that's why I am staying on top of this post but I really want to express that I hope you aren't referring to my comment with this post? It's hard to tell the way this site is set up. I can only read what you write and can't tell who your talking to. Any rate ya I hear you and I have the same problem with an alcoholic Dad who is now deceased and yes I'm also Bipolar in Chronic pain. I go to a pain clinic too. I didn't post about me maybe I should have clarified that I am in the same situation almost. Bipolar and chronic pain but not COPD at least not yet. I do smoke. So nervous when I'm in pain that it's like I smoke more but you prob know what I mean. At any rate. I wanted to speak out in case it was referring to my post.

Drs letter said i had not followed his narcotic rule, i went for my scheduled appt, but was tefused admittance.Seroquel allows me to focus ling enough to write that letter, so for you to doubt my bipilar, you need to walk.a mile in my shoes.Ive only been to 2 drs in 5 yrs and ive never changed pharmacies so i wet back to dr #1 who is assisting me Thank God.Dr #2 i noticed is ipening a pharmacy in his office and even tho he put me on all of these narcotics my gut yells me the dea will be monitoring his practice far more closely so any excuse to now get rid of patients like myself is now the protocol, because i can assure you dr #1 put me through the wringer, he requesyed my records 3 weeks ago and still hasnt got them, and if i wasnt telling the truth about no dr or pharmacy shopping he would never be willung to help me

I did go to the hospital for the first time since the pneumonia coma. 3 chest tubes and finally surgery, manually debriding my lung. Because i was off meds cold turkey they did NOTHING, no help in taking me where a pain clinic, rehab or anything can be found. I'm in Michigan. Been here about 5 years, I've only seen 2 primary drs in all that time and same pharmacy, so im not dr or pharmacy shopping. Dr #2 who put me on these meds, i thought we had a relationship, friendship but all business, will not see nor talk to me which is dishearthening because even without narcotics i would have stayed with him and would have thought he could help or refer me out for help to get off my meds and i forgot to say xanax is also one. The only logical conclusion i can come up with is that they have grown to a practice of 5 drs and are opening their own in house pharmacy, so more scrutiny from DEA..however he put me on morphine visit one, i was already on percocet 10^325 3x ehich last year he bumped up to 4 ,,he did i didn't. Ask him to.I searched for pain clinics, there are none. I AM a victim, fall out victim of all of the abusers who make up illnesses jump from dr to dr and the war on pain meds I lived in Florida when the pain clinics and drs got busted and wasn't on meds then, i thought all the pain clinic billboards on 95 were due to the fact so many seniors live there. I had no idea what the truth was until oxycontins killed thousands of young people. When i went back to dr #1..he definitely put me through the wringer and has yet to recieve my records from Dr #2, but thank god its HIS practice, he has no partners to answer to.

He is giving me a chance and while my oldest son is in the medical marijuana busuness in Colorado, and Michigan is flexible about it he isnt and ill never eat a cookie, use the cream let alone smoke any ever again. Going off morophine, petcocet, xanax, seroquel all at one time in one day will kill me and im not talking mentally and while medical professionals agree and advise against it, no one will step forward to help me even FIND help. So thank god dr #1, due to i believe, because of my NOT jumping drs or pharmacies, and wanting to believe i made a MISTAKE, i should have got my ass up at 3 am found my glasses and read the tablet before i took it, and when he does get my records and see how minimal it was in the U/A, will know im not lying, not playing a game, and he only needs to look at revtords scars and know this happened once in 4 years to call bulls***. But ive learned unlike other countries who respect elders, here we are nothing but cattle moving down the chute of the good ol slaughter houses. If it continues country wide id love to see people like myself, seniors who followed drs orders and AFTER years are kicked to the curb through no fault of their own unite somehow and take a trip to the nations capitol where i grew up. As far as the comments insinuating how could i write this if im bipolar, you must not know a thing about it. I am, my brother is, his daughter is and its all traced back to my sorry father's genes. His brother committed suicide as did his sister in later years, as did he in his lifestyle choices, so until you've walked a mile in my shoes..shut up. To those who have sent words of encouragement as well as advice i appreciate it, and to the other horsewoman, i began my career in non other then Bourbon County, Paris Ky, Wimbourne Farm right across from Claibourne Farm and as my mother told me I worked like a man my whole life. Thanks to all but those who sit in judgement and btw Medicare doesn't give a s*** either.

Really? Why would i lie to anyone? No i have not seen nor heard from that dr, the gront desk refused to let me even talk to him even tho i had a appt ment.Yes i can call 911 and if i panick and my throat closes up.i will, have no choice.I agree about my husband but what are my options mr physciatrist? I definitely agree i need mental help, discussed it many times with dr and he says we have a lack of them in this area..thats his version of help and in going thru the yellow pages trying to find it, if i were suicidal trying to find help is enough to push me over the edge....you dont have a clue

It was my primary for 4 years that i thpught i did have one with and who now refuses to.talk to me or see me that did this AND put me on these meds

Wow here in Mass . North shore erea Reading Ma. The Suboxin Dr. will give anyone about 3 strikes . I'm so sorry for your troubles. I would search for a Sub Clinic. Clinics are usually more tolerable. Good luck hon. Rain

Okay hon I'm reading the reply here from people and there just cruel and of no help to you. Please try to just ignore that crap. Obviously some people just are not happy unless they make others miserable. I'm sorry I have no great advise that can really help you. But I certainly would not be replying with negative deal just because I have nothing better to say. Mean people. Ought to be ashamed.

Every post here was positive help from members except re post from original poster saying no one has helped. She has multiple problems she claims? She has a car, a husband, internet connection, a cell phone. All have ability to contact help of any type imaginable. Why do people say that posters are mean or cruel when we all gave her solid medical advise?

If in fear of dying or in need of help call 911. They will transport her to any local hospital for treatment of whatever problem. As far as follow up if she cant do it or find anyone, that's what nursing homes or rehabs are for. You don't have to be old to be in nursing rehab care. There are facilities country wide in the usa.

Don't come back and say there is not one 5 minutes from your home - that's negative thinking. Help is there but she continued to repost after repost that the dr. got her on the meds in first place, but now wont treat her because she abused the narcotic contract. The help is there. The people who think im mean or cruel (?) - they offered no help except to comfort her with a post with no solution to her problem. Wake up blacksaddle call 911 and get help if you wont find help from internet searches or drive to a new dr. Your current dr. wont see you. Solution: Find a new Dr... Geez.

I guess you dont read well. My husband took me to the hospital after a seizure, no help at all and i had not been back there since the original pnuemonia/surgery..basically tough s***. I've poured thru yellow pages, internet, etc, all i can find is a methadone clinic but that doesn't help pain. The laws are changing so fast and hard, yet us patients are not aware of them. I can assure you that ONE pill i took in error, will be proved by the amount of residual in testing. I don't know what your problem is and if i posted the original post twice it was in error, but until you walk a mile in my shoes, save yourself time and trouble in responding, get your own life and problems, and yes if needed i do know how to dial 911 gheez. Btw i live in Jackson..where did you say i could get help???

I agree with you Don. That's great information. I didn't even think to say a methadone clinic so I hope she reads this and doesn't respond with a attitude. I just thought maybe her primary could help her to get resources as well. I must say. Terrific advice. How are you doing? Is your pain being treated now?

We were looking for a pain doctor for my dad. He was banged up working on oil drilling rigs some years ago. He also had some degenerative joint disease. The doctor who was prescribing to him cut him off meds for missing a phone call wanting a pill count and smoking marijuana. Pain docs in this state apparently do not like patients having medical marijuana along with pharmacy pain pills. My dad decided to stop his pain meds in an inpatient setting where they decreased his oxycodone dosage every few days. He reports being near pain-free today. I believe he had medicine induced pain. Opioid hyperalgesia. I saw in a news article that the Montana patients fly to California to see Dr. Tennant.

Hi & thanks for checking back! Yes I'm getting my meds but a couple of them I need to get refilled a couple of days earlier...like Day 29 & CVS just won't do that...it MUST be Day 29 at the earliest. So I'll make sure that's what I do however when I see my Dr. in a week or so I'm gonna ask him if those 2 Rx's can be written so that I can get them a couple of days earlier. He knows that I have to take an extra one here & there...but if not written on the Rx...too bad.

It's not part of any oath. If you're talking about the Hippocratic Oath that's been the same for eons. More likely what it is is the CDC's "guidelines" causing doctors to have this "OPIOID HYSTERIA".
