Metformin Causes Memory Loss
UpdatedMetformin DOES CAUSE MEMORY LOSS!!!!!!! I know, it causes me to lose memory.... .short term memory loss. I am now dealing with this and will seem my doctor to see if there is another drug I can take that does not cause this. THE THING IS THAT THE DOCTORS KNOW THAT IT CAN CAUSE MEMORY LOSS, BUT SUBSCRIBE IT ANY WAY. THE MANUFACTURERERS KNOW TOO BUT ARE JUST AFTER THE MONEY.

Hello, Marlene! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having.
However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, some more serious and problematic than others. In most cases they are transient and will go away, after about a month, once your body gets used to a medication.
When prescribing something, your doctor has to evaluate whether there is greater risk from giving you the medication, or leaving any given condition untreated. In this case, if you are diabetic, there is far greater risk from letting that continue out of control than there is from any of the medications.
The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, flatulence, diarrhea and hypoglycemia.
However, there is nothing about memory loss, nor has anyone else reported this so far.
Is this the only medication you're on?
Hello,
I am experiencing this now. I have talked with my doctor and it is well know that Metformin causes memory loss. The powers that be are just hoping that it won't. Medformin is the only drug that I take. I also googled it and read other peoples experience with this drug. It messes with the neutrons in the brain.
I live alone. Metformin is causing memory loss for me. What if I leave a burner on? I have't as yet. I didn't know where my doctor is located, my daughter has to take me.
I write a lot of notes. My daughter can have a conversation with me and the next day I don't remember half of it. The doctor said that Metformin is known for causing memory loss, the manufacturers know it too. but there isn't much else that you can take for diabetes. I quite till I can talk with my doctor and I felt like I was coming out of a fog. My thinking became more clear. I go see my doctor next week. Hopefully, there is something else that I can take. Metformin messes with the neutrons in the brain.
hi i have been taking metformin for about 9 year and it does cause short term memory loss and brain fog also stomach problems acid reflex because sometime i can actually feel like if i am tasting metal on my mouth and i told my doc she did not respond she said i must increase the metformin. to 4 a DAY i could not take the symptoms anymore so i decide to stop taking it for about a week now i find that my memory is more clear my brain is not cloudy anymore my hearing problem has improved .. my point of view i think metformin is destroying our lives.
