Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 63) (Top voted first)
UpdatedDoes anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you
Hi Nick,
I'm just dropping by to see how your son is getting along; whether or not he has had any improvement at all. In a few months time I have an appointment with a neurologist, mainly because of my primary condition, which is neurological, but I will also (if I manage to remember!) ask about the lyrica - and even attempt to educate the doctor regarding its side effects if he happens to be unaware of it (which is almost certain). I have been too exhausted by my own personal legal battles at the moment to put any more thought or effort into chasing up a class action. I wish things were different. Cheers for now.
Hi Melinda , thanks for your message , wondered where you got to ,i missed our little chats , my Son still has not improved despite nearly four years post lyrica , recently we tried higher doses of fish oil and higher doses of vitamin supplements and even 2 table spoon fulls per day of fresh olive oil from a friends farm , the rest of him looks fantastic but still has the Lyrica symptoms , could you please write down the following numbers 0437 and keep them aside until next time . Lyrica with out doubt is a very dangerous drug , even many illegal drugs have to be taken in very high doses for a long time before they cause permanent brain damage .
Hi Nick,
It's late and I should be in bed...but am a night owl. I've written down the numbers you gave me...thank you. I find it distressing that your son still has the lyrica symptoms. I'll definitely question my neurologist about it. Unfortunately, I don't have an appointment until the end of June; these specialists are so difficult to get into. You wouldn't want to have a brain tumour - one would be dead before the first appointment was scheduled! It sounds as though you're doing absolutely all the right things for your boy...yet I can't help but hope there'll be a breakthrough at some point in the future. It's simply too unjust for this to be happening. I've met a lady through a facebook group, who is tapering off the lyrica and is having incredible withdrawals from it. While she was on it, she developed extreme anxiety, despite being a very calm person throughout her life. And of course she's had the memory issues as well. I'm hoping all will be well for her within a couple of months of taking her last dose, but we can't be sure. Another lady has been off the lyrica for years and her memory has never returned in full. I am perhaps one of the luckier ones.Take care for now.
Thanks Melinda , your comment about that other lady developing extreme anxiety from lyrica was very interesting as my son also developed the same severe anxiety when he took lyrica , he had no sign of before that , in fact he used to thrive on stress , it used to really motivate him and he did his best work , you can add 2298 to the last lot , now the slightest problem and he is a suicidal mess ..
Hi Bonnie don't expect any justice this side of heaven , the world is corrupt , especially corporate greed in the USA , would like to know what dose of Lyrica you were on and for how long , my son peaked at 75 mg x 4 per day and the severe Anxiety disorder kicked in like turning on a switch
Hi Nick, I was on 200 mgs twice a day but the doctor's changed it to 400mgs all at once at night time for 4 years. The last few day's and I have noticed that it seems like I just drift away from reality. I have anger issue's that are unexplained and I lash out even still after being off since September of 2013. Thank God we have a strong married because to tell you the truth I won't put up with me. My husband is great and so is my new doctor. My new doctor wants me to bring this website to him so he may read the posting's and understand what I have explained to him a little better. I will continue to pray for your son and other's. God Bless
Hi Nick, and thank you. I have the additions written down. The lady I've been in contact with is not the only one who experienced the onset of severe anxiety due to the lyrica. The difficulty in linking the two - the lyrica and the anxiety - seems to stem largely from the fact that this particular symptom, anxiety, is a late onset phenomenon. That is, it can occur many months or even years after beginning the lyrica, so it's hard to make a connection between the two. I believe Pfizer have admitted that this can happen, though I would have to go back through posts to verify this. I have to be quite honest and admit that, for me, the tendency towards anxiety is part of my personality. I've spent many years learning how to mediate this innate trait, with some satisfaction and success. I experienced other effects from this medication, however, that I'd never experienced before, like amnesia and episodes of rage (which are so far removed from my personality, the effects of lyrica just MUST be significant and causal). Brain chemistry is still only partially understood. So many things have been discovered by 'accident', eg that some antidepressants also mediate pain; or that the drug that helps ameliorate symptoms in Parkinson's disease (or perhaps it was Huntington's - can't remember) also happens to have a positive effect on Schizophrenia. There are times when I really wish I was Sherman from The Big Bang Theory. :) Take care.
So Bonnie, at least you have a doctor that listens. Mine just ignores what I say about Lyrica. I have been off Lyrica for over 2 years. I had never had anxiety attacks before Lyrica. My eyesight has changed. Oh s*** I could go on and on. I have posted on this site before. I have many lingering problems from taking this medicine, including memory loss (which to me is like stealing part of your life), weight gain, etc. All I can say is hang in there.
Thank you, I will , I to have suffered memory lost , lapse in time and reoccurring headaches, in a fog like state and at times I feel like I detoxing all over again. Almost seven months post lyrica 400mg per night for four years is how they prescribed it to me. I don't go out much in fear of this happening to me.
Melinda, wow, I am so glad I read your post. I only took Lyrica a few months, and the side effects were out of control and haven't gone away. But the anxiety, I had no idea that could be from Lyrica, especially since, like you were saying, it may not start right away. Two years after stopping it I began having severe anxiety attacks, that got so bad over the following year I was severly depressed and was falling apart. I could not understand where these attacks were coming from, no one in my family ever had anything like it, I never even knew anyone who experienced such a thing. I felt like whatever your body has to deal with stress, I must've run out of it, because the slightist thing, or NOTHING, would set one off. They've been well under control lately, but only with medication. I wonder what other surprises await us all from taking this poison.
Bonnie , from my experience with my son, Lyrica induced Anxiety is hard to effectively treat because of brain wave changes and or Lyrica brain damage , patients i have seen with normal organic anxiety seem to respond far better to anxiety medications than has my son to Lyrica caused anxiety. in my opinion the anxiety is a far worse and life wrecking condition than the original pain condition this truly horrible drug was meant to treat.
Anyone in Oklahoma that would consider talking with me? I have been on lyrics for 4 yrs. And attempting once again to come off it. In need of support since no one will listen to me. Desperate for help!!!
All of these are kind of scaring me :( I have been on Lyrica for the last 4 months and even though at first I had the drowsiness (I don't anymore), this has been a miracle drug for me. My nerve pain is completely gone when I remember to take it regularly. For breakthrough pain I take 10mg of Oxycontin twice a day and Endocet 5/325 up to three times daily. I know that everybody is different and medicines affect people differently. But this has been a miracle drug for me. I am so sorry for those of you that have been affected very, very negatively by this medicine. I hope you all find some sort of relief sooner rather than later.
Hi Nick,
Thanks for your message - and for the mathematics. I'll be in touch in a few days. I have to wrap my head around a lot of paperwork over the weekend before I can think straight...but this too, shall pass.
You know, the anxiety experienced because of the lyrica is actually qualitatively different to general day-to-day anxiety. Because I've experienced both, I've known and felt the difference - and it's particularly clear since I've been off the lyrica. Again, I'm one of the lucky ones for whom this symptom has settled since a month or two of my last dose. It took a bit longer for me to stop waking up feeling startled, shaking and frankly terrified without knowing why. That too, has now left me. I once had an excellent article that talked about the brain changes of lyrica and in a round about way, it made it clear how the anxiety is caused and maintained by the medication itself. Then, my browser crashed before I could bookmark it and I simply cannot find it again! I will keep looking, and God willing, it will show up before long.
Take care and have a wonderful, relaxing weekend. I love autumn! Melinda
I am still having anxiety attacks from Lyrica. I am in a special program @ college because I am having trouble coping because of this drug. I hope make thru school.
Hi Jennifer,
I'm so pleased Lyrica is working for you and have my fingers crossed that you will remain side-effect free. From what I have read on the internet there are many of us who have been through hell, particularly with late-onset symptoms that we didn't initially connect to the lyrica. The experience is far too common to be coincidence. Keep a very good eye on yourself and your own reactions (which is hard to do if you're emotional stability does happen to be affected by the drug). Enlist a partner or two to observe you also...and have them promise to tell you if they notice any changes. I can certainly understand why you wouldn't want to give up something that gets rid of your pain. It's sheer bliss to be pain free. For me the lyrica didn't work so it was a moot point. However, two glasses of red in the evening definitely ease the pain in my shoulders and neck...and help me to sleep soundly. I'm not giving that up any time soon. :)
Lyrica has a habit of making you forget things and falling and not remembering it. I never remembered falling out of .my chair or crawling on all 4s trying to get to the bathroom. Make sure you have someone watching you 24 hours a day. I hope it works for. you.
I do I have a whole lot of effects . Long last effects . I took it long term . It was about 4 yrs .
I too am looking for someone to represent me in a lawsuit against Lyrica it put me in ICU and I almost did not make it.
