Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 61) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Friends - It's not so much the "Statute of Limitations" that applies here. Pfizer is STILL marketing LYRICA (pregabalin) exclusively - meaning that it's still selling a drug that could be dangerous. However,to file suit against Pfizer for LYRICA, you'll have to prove that: 1. Pfizer knew of some evidence of adverse effects from LYRICA and hid that evidence OR 2. Pfizer outwardly marketed LYRICA for any reason other than the few reasons approved by the FDA. I think, unfortunately, that proving either will be difficult. However, again, if your PHYSICIAN prescribed you LYRICA for non-FDA approved reasons, saying something like,"This could help", you can sue your doctor. S/he would be guilty of giving you a drug that lacked evidence in treating your conditon WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. IF your doctor said, "Some research indicated LYRICA could be helpful for ....", you cannot sue.

They say it is 2 years from the time of use and awareness.

IF you are considering suing your doctor over side effects you think Lyrica caused, I hope that you have made formal complaints to the FDA Adverse Side Effect Post-Marketing site - this site is managed by the FDA and collects negative info about medications that have severe or potentially dangerous side effects. If you haven't yet made a report, log onto fda.gov and file a report. Otherwise, your doctor, the FDA, and Pfizer can claim they "never knew" about the problem.

Thank you, Shayne and JL. Best to get moving then. I stopped Lyrica only a month ago but proceedings can take a long time.

Are you off the Lyrica yet Shayne? And if so, for how long. I'm thinking I'll need to recruit as many people as possible whose potential claims fall within that statute of limitations. With the thalidomide case, one of the women who was awarded a significant amount of money was 50 years old - born with no arms or legs. But her case would clearly be quite different to ours; and perhaps she'd be trying for years to seek justice, with no result till now.

The statute ran out for me, I was on it in 2006 or 2007. I don't remember. Of all the side effects left from lyrica in my system that is the only thing I have yet. Lyrica destroys the neurol pathways (sorry abot the spellingg. I used to be a good speller, but since lyrica I have forgotten how to spell two and/or three letters. I caseeit in my mind, I can't get out. Sometimes the word that I wat comes out wrong. I'll say berreirs instead of sherries. Also the word I want to say is in my mind but I can't day it until after speaking gibberist the word will suddenly and I can say it. Also I forgot to say about my job of 29 years, they put me on a 6 month probation with monthly evaluations where I would go up only 1/2 point a year. Needless to da I nevver reached the goal they had set for me. But even with that, they set the goal too high for me. You would think that, they being a hospital, they would help me and not fire me. It takes a long time for the nrves to find new pathways. In the mean time, we all have to suffer the damage lyrica did to our brains.:'(

Hi Portia...beautiful name by the way. Do you happen to live in Australia? I'm looking into a class action here, but am not sure if you can be included if you live overseas. It's a possibility I'll look into though. I know there have been Australian law firms that have joined class actions in the US. Must be a way. Please stay in touch.

And I'm so sorry for what happened to your boyfriend and for the shock and grief you've had to go through. I'm beginning to refer to lyrica in my mind as the demon drug.

Hi Melinda , i live in Melbourne Australia and called Slater and Gordon about a class action on lyrica and was told there was nothing pending but took my details should one occur in the future they would call me. I would suggest you give them a call as a show of interest and evidence will only strengthen our case.

Since Lyrica causes diminished capacity in users it seems like the statue of limitations should not apply. Lyrica damages your brain so that you do not have the capacity to understand that you've suffered damage. Then oh, too bad, you took too long to figure out you suffered damage and Pfizer is off the hook?

Hi Mary , at the moment they wont include us in Australia , if any class action is taken i would think it would derive from US based evidence .The Lawyer i rang in Australia is Slater and Gordon but would need to look up there number again , will get back to you on that but in the mean time if you key in Slater and Gordon Solicitors ,Melbourne Australia it should come up
