Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 56) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Hi Stewart , am sorry to here what you are going through , PLEASE DON'T COMMIT SUICIDE , life is a precious gift but unfortunately you have been put on the worst drug possible for what is already a seriously nasty condition , i know what i have been through with my son , Anxiety disorders are hell , you will need to wean of Lyrica very very slowly over a long period of time , if you had anxiety before Lyrica then Lyrica will have added a new level to this anxiety , you will need to be very brave and ride it out as your body will go through a great adjustment period , then you will need to find a competent doctor to re prescribe a regular anxiety medication and wean up to it again very gradually , unfortunately this will take time and with it more suffering but you will eventually have better days to look forward to , be brave be determined to succeed and beat it .

Stewart - I was on lyrica for at least a couple of years I can't remember exactly how long. I had double vision and blurry vision and could barely speak or think. I twitched constantly and had horrible panic attacks and terrible nerve pain in arms and hands and sleep paralysis so bad that if I even lied still for a few minutes I couldn't move or speak at all. And I was suicidal! I saw every type of neuro doc I could and had every test done they recomended. I was told I might have MS and another said I had carpal tunnel and another said my MRI showed I had a dry brain but the procedure I would need to treat it couldn't be done because of the spinal injury and spinal surgery. I was also put into the seizure wing of the hospital to have my brain monitered and was put through hell with all kinds of quizzing to test my memory because I couldn't think anymore and was treated like I was crazy. After all of this the one Neuro sat me down and said I was crazy and that I had made everything up. I guess he didn't believe me when I said I was suicidal because he yelled at me for 15 minutes and then sent me home. I still had no idea what was wrong with me and had lost all hope on ever finding out what. I found a new dr. he weaned me off lyrica within a month and recomended me to a psych for panic attacks. The drug was making me suicidal as soon as it was of my system it became so obvious why I was losing my mind. Find a dr who can wean you off of it safely because it will get better.

Hi Stewart , thank God you are still alive , nice to hear from you and thank you for your comment , the unfortunate thing about Lyrica is that until your GP receives an official warning about this drug he will not act on it , that warning will eventually come from some over paid professional suave in a university after 10 years of exhaustive research and many millions of dollars, who will then proclaim what we already know, .you will need to tell your GP you need a change and then wean down very slowly at about a 2.5 mg increments holding every decrease at the same level for about 4 to eight weeks depending on your individual result , when you finally get down to 2.5mg , hold it for a couple of weeks before stopping, CAUTION , you may and probably will need a substitute Anxiety , Depression type of medication to take up the slack , if you are able to , a good work out on a bicycle or a brisk walk will help your brain produce endorphin's that will help you feel a bit better , also ensure you are drinking plenty of fresh water and that your diet is free from white bread , white rice , white spaghetti and sugar , substitute all of these for wholemeal products and for sugar honey , make sure you have plenty of fruits and vegetables .best wishes , stay in touch ..

Hi Mary , i am very concerned about the forever part of lyrica side effects , a drug that produces side effect long after ceasing the medication or even forever must actually cause brain damage at the cellular level , is there any one out there who has taken Lyrica for a time and completely recovered 100% ? i would like to hear there story if they exist .

Stewart - I am so sorry you are not getting any help. Please have your GP give you some references for pain docs and find one you feel you trust. When I did my new doc had me completely weaned off in a month but everyone is different. My pain doc is wonderful but he has a policy of only changing one med at a time and he referred me to a psych who helped me with my panic attacks and the chronic nightmares. I was seeing every so called top doc in Philly and ended up finding the one that helped me with lyrica in a South Jersey teaching hospital. Please - keep working on finding someone who will help you off of this. Let me know how you make out - Renee

I had complete paralysis for 3 days and was in ICU on a heart monitor. Talked to lawyers say that it is to rare and no class action. for one person to expensive and timely.

Sumaiya- Sorry if I misspelled. Were you on a drug called elavil or generic amitripilyn at the same time you were on lyrica. I had sleep paralysis which I read was from the combination of lyrica and elavil.

Missy - The easiest way to get off of the drug is to lower the dosage gradually and times a day gradually. When you stopped cold turkey the withdrawal is horrible. Most likely when your doctor started you on it he raised the mg's a little bit at a time because it is addictive. I was able to be completely off of it in a month and my head started to clear. I was on a low dosage because I couldn't tolerate a high dosage so I might have gotten off of it quicker than others. Talk to your doctor about weaning you off as soon as you can. The drugs prescribed to us should make our lives better - not make us want to stop living.

I have been on Lyrica for several years. It has helped the neuropathic pain, but I have developed occasional uncontrollable jerking, blurred vision, difficulty finding the correct words when speaking, and many dental problems. I am currently taking 600 mg per day but reading some of these posts is incredibly scary! Does anyone know if bone damage is limited to teeth or is it found throughout the skeletal system. I really thought I was just imagining these things all of this time. I have not developed suicidal thoughts, but I struggle with some OCD tendencies that I never had before. That may just be me getting older. To all of you who are struggling with this, please hang in there! You are important to those around you.

Missy,
It is a couple weeks of pure hell, but it is worth it in the long run. I had to go cold turkey because it caused me to go into kidney failure. My Dr put me on Viibyrd and xanax 3times a day. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat. I didn't care if I just never woke up. It is like nothing I have been through in my life. Then one day at a time it got easier. Still have side effects that will probably never go away. I'm constantly on pain meds now. I have pain caused from the nerve damage that happened because of Lyrica. Every Dr I meet I educate on the true side effects of lyrica. d

I took this stuff for two months. I took myself off of it. In two months it put 20 lbs on me. It took my hair out. It gave me blurred vision I had 20/20 vision. That was 7 years ago and my vision is still bad. I have to wear bifocals now. So I can sympathize with all of you about Lyrica. Wish you all the best and better health..

Vicky, I am in the same boat, a 30 yr govt employee injured at work. I started on 600 mg/day Lyrica but after nearly two years on it I can sometimes get by on 300mg. Side effects have been brutal at times& I do experience vertigo, nausea and hand tremors. I also have 'idiot attacks ' where I forget words etc. I also take Valoron so that just adds to it. It's hard to tell how much is the drug interaction and how much is caused by lyrica. My concern is the damage it is doing to my liver. Btw, I have permanent nerve damage at L5-S1, a Spinal fusion and nerve stimulator implant. I'm weighing pros and cons of intrathecal morphine since I'm only 48. And I'm also embroiled in a battle with OCWP...
