Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 30) (Top voted first)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Kathy-

That happened to me when I was on Ambien & Lyrica. I called people then had dreamlike memories about it the next day. I called a couple & sure enough what I sid went waaaay beyond drunk dialing!! I had also gone to the store, had my hair done & eating weird food combinations. All while "sleep walking". I have never slept walked in my life before this. Thank God no one was hurt! This problem could sten from one or a combination of drugs. I would look up all your drugs side effects & see if it lists that as an option. Good luck, but for your own safety check it asap & hide your keys & phone from yourself at night!

My son has had all of his beautiful teeth ruined by this medication, not to mention the expense. We have run out of money and his mouth is a mess, and it is completely due to Lyrica. Many bad side effects. What can we do?

I Was just down in Los Angadones, Mexico this week and I was in some of the pharmacies there, I glanced behind the counter at the first one I was in and I had the most sickening feeling when I saw many many boxes of Lyrica...I told the guy what those awful meds have done to me and thousands of others and I can't believe that anyone can just buy them without a Dr and no warnings of what this drug can and probably will do to them, Ijust had the sickest feeling in my gut all day knowing that they were there. Good thing though, I had a porclain cap made a filling done and teeth cleaned all for $160.00. would have cost me a thousand dollars here. I am going back to have bridges made for my six missing teeth due to lyrica and it is only going to cost around 1500.00 for all of it compared to several thousand here. SO if anyone needs extensive work done and can get down there, it is well worth it. Good luck .

Amy,,I spelled it wrong. It is Los Algadones, Mexico. It is the safest border town I have ever been to. It is all retired americans that are there. I went to Marys Dental Clinic on A St. Spent the whole day checking Dentists and prices and I was very happy with her and her work.

I have been off lyrica since april, when i tapered off it i ended up in a psych ward for the first time in my life as i was so confused i didnt even really know my name. While I was on lyrica at first I felt so loopy i wouldnt drive, then i lost my memory, i couldnt even complete sentences. it wasnt until an old friend of mine came to visit me that encouraged me to get help with this. I had suicidal ideations and being a nurse i was scared to report it. My uncle was on lyrica and it made him so confused that he was hit head on broke his neck and his back.

I was placed on Lyrica while in a rehab hospital after a back surgery back in Feb, 2007 (surgery date). They increased the dose to 600 mg daily. I took it daily up until a few months ago. I had been having terrible swelling and leg ulcers in my left leg mainly and a few in right leg, but both legs were swollen, very red and painful. I had MRSA and when these ulcers would form, I would usually fight MRSA in the ulcers, with long hospital stays at a wound care hospital and IV antiobiotics. I was determined to find out about this swelling and ulcers, so as a hunch after hearing on tv about swelling of hands and feet associated with Lyrica. After 24 hours, the swelling started to leave. The huge ulcers started to get better and finally healed. The redness is still there but not as bad. I am positive Lyrica caused this. There is no way in the world I would take this medication again. I wish they had a lawsuit against it. I would gladly participate. I used a lot of my insurance coverage on these hospital stays.

Personal Update: (posting here because I'm too confused to navigate Facebook right now.) I have moved back to Seattle after nearly six years of living elsewhere, and have luckily been able to see the health care provider I was seeing before I moved, whom I like a lot. One great thing -- I specifically asked if the clinic was getting federal or pHARMaceutical industry funding, and she said absolutely not! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! (Refer back to posts by gemorris, posts numbering around 190 to 200, regarding the funding Pfizer and other big pHARMa criminals give to pain organizations and then the consequent pressure they apply on such organizations to get them to prescribe their poisons, instead of safer, older, more thoroughly tested and proven medications.)

I'm calling Seattle medical malpractice attorneys one by one, in the hope that I will stumble upon one who has the skill and courage to take on the criminals. If anyone in the state of Washington wants updates, let me know on this forum and I will be happy to email privately. I have utterly given up on the big firms that advertise class action suits on TV and elsewhere. They are all LIARS! I've contacted so many of them and gotten no response -- or the can't-help-you response -- or the go-ahead-and-commit-suicide-and-then-we'll-be-interested-in-talking-to-your-surviving-family-members response.

Currently struggling hard with opiate dependency and deepening depression and self-destructiveness. I hope to find that the doctor who kinda specializes in chronic pain at the clinic I'm going to has something positive to say about pain relief options. I'm currently taking the maximum dose of pain medication prescribed by my former doc, and getting a whole four or five hours or marginal pain relief daily, and the rest of the day is intense pain and screaming opiate receptors wanting more. Some life, huh? I am a very creative person and have exciting work planned, but can't find the energy or interest to work unless I'm pain free. Spending lots of hours curled up fetal, in bed, sobbing for help.

I had bought the Alpha-Stim machine, for treatment of depression and pain, but I'm too spaced out or apathetic to remember to use it regularly. Wish there was a big mean guy who would walk into my home twice a day and physically put the electrodes on my earlobes and turn the machine on! LOL! That's the only way I think I'll ever get into the habit of using it religiously. It's hard to find impetus to stay on it when most of the day I sit and stare into space and wish I could die.

Hope all of you are finding some small (or large!) measure of relief as often as possible. I would welcome any personal contact via Facebook -- it's lonely in here and you all are the people who know the most about what it's like.

I am so sorry to hear about all your bad experiences with Lyrica. I just hope that others will research this page before taking it. I have been in contact with a Lawyer here in Canada and with any luck might be successful in getting legal help. I hope that every one of you are successfull in getting a Lawyer and maybe with all of us fighting the drug company we may be able to save a life some day! If anyone knows of any other cases in Canada please let me know. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!

Roy
I know this might not be what you want to hear but I think if you’re not having any luck with your doctor, you might want to contact a psychiatrist.
I was told by two doctors just to stop taking Lyrica and I ended up going out of my mind jumping through a window and in a mental hospital for three and a half weeks.
The psychiatrist told me I was there to detox from Lyrica and that no one should just stop taking this drug they need an alternative drug to help detox.
Sorry I can’t remember what she had me on but I hope this will help you.

Roy I'm not on lyrica but have a mother on it. I havent had my mom forget me but her mind isnt as sharp as it used to be. She thought labour day last year was thanksgiving day. For the sake of your daughter try to get off that stuff, and dont kill yourself. Altho it will hurt your daughter seeing you in pain, its hurts more when the parent is not all there and cleary drugged up. I am an adult now, but all my life my mom has had probs with prescription drugs. And lyrica is addictive and she is ever worse from that. Your daughter needs the real you even if you will get crabby some days because your sore, but being in full mind will let her know you are there for her. I love my mother but because of her affects of drugs in the past and now lyrica, I feel the bond is missing because of drug use. I would hate that your daughter would go thru years of lonliness like I have.

Hello everyone. I have been following all entries in this forum for I also was a recipient of Lyrica. I took it for Fybromyalgia (300mg daily) for 3 years. I didn't notice any change in my symptoms . If anything pain just got worse. I told my doctor about a year ago that I didnt want to take it anymore since I wasn't getting any relief. I quit cold turkey. Also I am not sure what kind of high everyone is talking about I never felt high. So since I have been stopped the lyrica my short term memory is very bad. I ask the same thing over and over. My family and friends have noticed this. They get angry and say mom I just told you this morning? I do have pain so bad that it feels like a body tooth ache, even hurts to lay down in my bed this is not constant but sometimes it will last for weeks then all of a sudden I am only suffering from my bad back. ( I also have a terrible back and that's never going to go away). I just try to accept the pain and try to find a way to cope I keep thinking that walking it out will help but in the end of the day it proves to create more pain. I get angry at the doctor because all they want to do it give you pain medication for this? It is very frustrating. If the doctors would care enough to find out what is wrong (Like a PET scan) then maybe they would know what is going on and treat accordingly. It just that this scan is very expensive and most insurances wont cover or will only pay according to the contracted cost through the Insurance copy. Will continue to watch the growing number of recipients of this medication and hopefully someone can final a lawyer for this medicine.

I would love to know if there is anyone to represent us as i dont believe the company that makes lyrica was aware of the side effects for me it helped with my nerve pain it made me loopy enough to not want to drive but it took away my pain. I was almost in debilitating pain for 2 years and when i went off it i started having tremors and involuntary movements in my left arm it was horrible i couldnt complete a sentence or tell anyone anything about the day before i felt like i had a brain injury and needed to relearn to talk and write etc...

Amy, Thank you so much for the very helpful information. You are so right, in many instances those of use that are "victims" of Lyrica sometimes do not know how to get help because it messes up our thought process so badly, example is in my original posting that at times I did not know my daughters name and she was standing right in front of me. We do not even realize we need help at that point. We do need someone to step in at that time to lead us to help or the emergency room.
You do not know how much I appreciate your help, and all others out that can benefit from reading your information. I looked online for a very long time to unite with people that have been damaged permanently from this poison. I unfortunately was misguided by my thought process, but finally I typed in "Lyrica Lawsuits" and found everyone here. I have been spending alot of time trying to find a lawyer that will represent all of us. So far no luck, but I never give up. I will find one even if I have to take a crash course in handling this type of Lawsuit. I do have a hefty background in commecial real estate law, (like that really helps now, huh !), however it does give me a "leg up" .
Right now we are facing a serious situation. We live in the tornado ravaged area of NW Alabama. We have no power, out of food, and the stores that are open in other areas are accepting cash only because thier power is out also. No one can get cash because the banks are without power, no computers etc. Please pray for us, I guess we are just lucky to be alive, many are not so fortunate. Take care everyone, I definitely care about all of you too. I'll get back online as soon as I can. Thank you all so very much, we will find "good" legal representation. We really have to help those that cannot help themselves. Thanks Amy !

To Roy and all,

Thanks for the support and a place to come and vent. I have filled out applications for all the class action Lyrica suits I can find and keep getting the polite messages saying, no we can't help you, but............blah, blah, blah.

Roy, your dedication is amazing! So is the patience of everyone here who is suffering in frustration. Due to a new legislation in my state, they are taking the ability to prescribe opioid pain meds and other controlled substances out of the hands of general practice and family physicians, and my nearest hope is a pain clinic at the university, but the waiting list is 5 to 6 months long. I have even appealed to a congressional rep in my district, and the administrative assistant I've talked to in his office will help me, within his ability to do so, but I doubt if he can help me with getting into a clinic earlier. I also doubt that he is going to be able to help me find legal assistance. If there's anything that your legal background can help us accomplish, Roy, it will be a total gift!

Meanwhile, hang in there, everyone. Faith, strength, and prayers to everyone.

you need to look at the cause of fibro myalgia not treat the symptom. I suffer from it for 7 years until i found out that i have fructose malabsorption. This causes FM. I have been free of pain since going on a low fructose diet. If you google FM offer the cause is a food intolerance. Dairy also causes it. if you live in America and fructose or corn syrup is in everything then you probably have fructose malabsorption.
