Lyrica And Fibro...i Need Help, No One Knows Anything..
UpdatedMy Dr diagnosed me with Fibro almost 2 years ago. I took a drug last year playing the insurance game. It was an anti-depressent and I swear to you it made my crazy! I am sensitive to drugs that alter my mind and that was the worst. But the insurance insisted I needed to take it before they would give me a Fibro med. It was so bad I refused to take anything till this year. I live in Western PA and to say our weather is bi-polar, well thats an understatment. So I have been in a rather painful flair for about 4 months now.
I decided to start lyica. Here is where it is fun. My Dr knows nothing about the drug. The pharmisist knows nothing about the drug and appearently no one thought that starting me out at 300mg a day was a bad thing. After 2 pills I was a MESS. I couldn't drive because I was so dizzy and disoriented. (I work about 60+ hours a week mind you) They cut my dose in half and I am still a mess.
My symptoms:
I am still in PAIN (and taking a pain pill makes the symptoms worse)
Dizzy
Disoriented
easily distracted
loosing my ever loving mind (I locked myself out of my house, in 35 years I have never done something that thoughtless or careless)
I loose words...they just go away
I can't speak to someone without going off in another direction
I drop things all.the.time
my hands and feet are swollen
I cry, good lord I cry
I am frustrated, just so frustrated because I can't be me. And I should not be driving. I get so distracted I forget what I am doing and I am DRIVING.
My mom suggested to stop taking it. My question is will the symptoms go away? I am now taking 150 mgs a day. The pain is pretty incredible due to the fact that I can't take anything for the pain. I know there is more I should put here but my lyrica brian is forgetting most of it....I am not kidding. I am a freaking mess!

You are not the first person to post that they've had very problematic side effects from this medication.
In addition, even though it is actually an anti-seizure medication, it still has an effect on the same brain chemicals that affect moods, so that may be part of what it causing your problems.
You can learn more about it here:

How long have you been taking it? That can have an effect on how long it takes for the effects to wear off, after you stop taking it.
