Lyrica Is Dangerous / Class Action Suit Anyone? (Page 6)

Updated

I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!

Valerie , your story is heart breaking and wish I could help you but wishing will never be enough , I believe that if a class action be set up against Lyrica that will be the only truly affordable means of securing justice and compensation for all of us .......

You mention going to your lawyer about a class action lawsuit? Any luck with that? I am going to take a chance when I say that the majority of people writing in this post are from the USA??

I am thinking that Dawn is out of the thread. Her post is from 2011. I wish we could do something. I am going to try to look into this from the Canadian side. I don't know if we have a case but definite want to look into it.

I would definitely be interested in this if a suit could be filed. I had significant problems with that medication and continue to have issues, that started with the drug, and we're not present before. I 100% believe it causes permanent brain dysfunction.

Hi Kim, i am also 1000000% sure Lyrica causes permanent brain dysfunction. My son has been ruined by it. He has not had a dose for many years and still has not recovered....

Hi I took Lyrica for 2 weeks, headachs, joint pain, anger, fighting sleep, I was a wreck.
I went off it for the next 2 weeks. Took that long for my headach to go away. But my joint in the knee was still sore could not bend down or hardly walk. I saw my GP and told him I was off Lyrica for 2 weeks. He said instead of 2 x 75mg a day (150gms) I should take 25mg a day I didn't want too. But he insisted this was the way to go. So yes I did. I got home that day (Monday) and took one that evening well at 2.30am i woke with sever headach and was back were I was before. My knee joint flared up worse and I ended up in hospital Wednesday afternoon thought I was having a heart attack or stroke, left side of my face was like ants crawling over it, my speech was slurred, vision was a bit blurred and I lost time like blacked out that was scary, but ECG was normal, had a CT Scan and no brain bleed all normal. So that was from one little tablet 2 weeks after I stopped the first time.
Never again.

I've given up hope that there ever will be a suit against Phyzer. They will quietly pull it off the market just like Darvon and all its relatives. Til then more and more people will suffer the effects of Lyrica. The only person who may be able to help would be the Attorney General of your state. Maybe...

If you can get a lawyer for a class action suit count me in. I was on Lyrica and it caused me to be suicidal. I overdosed because of it and it's a miracle I'm here. I have medical records to prove my case. Please let me know what you find out.

Hi Neil, I also am from Australia. I will never take another tablet.
I also have a friend who after a massive stroke has been put on lyrica his left leg is like a balloon. If you find a Lawyer for class action here and we can stand together.

If you do find a lawyer please let me know. My husband took lyrica after a tumor was removed from his spinal cord. It was his "miracle" drug - the only thing to finally eliminate some of the pain that made it feel like his legs were waking up/asleep all the time. He took it gained weight, slept more and more, started to have trouble swallowing due to a swollen tongue. He thought he was just deteriorating. He didn't feel like there was any hope. I tried to be there and convince him it was ok, but he took his own life this past December. The dr didn't tell us any of these side effects and never said anything while we were there. He just prescribed more lyrica and more narcotics. Maybe my husband would have had more hope and found a better option. Maybe I could have still had him with me.

SS, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. It is so sad that a life was lost because of a medication with such awful side effects. It makes me angry to learn this. I have done a little reading with regards to drug lawsuits and it soundsike it is very country specific. I am from Canada And I don't think they will entertain a dual lawsuit involving both Countries. But if that changes I will certainly post and invite everyone here to join in on the suit. It just angers me that Lyrica has ruined so many lives and this is just the tip of the iceberg. Once again I am sorry for your loss.

If there will ever be a law suit against Phyzer and Lyrica, all you need is one state or country to get the ball rolling. What we need is just one country from any of the countries on any industrial developed continent. Where one goes the other governments will follow like a snow ball rolling down the hill. It will just keeping growing and growing and more and more research will be done and will realize that Lyrica is a bad drug and never should have been manufactured.

My father just died after a stroke shortly after taking lyrica, they haven't completed the autopsy to verify it was a 2nd stroke when he died but we're assuming

Well I received my response from a Lawyer out of Toronto Ontario today with regards to a class action lawsuit Firstly lawsuits can only encompass the country that you reside in. Secondly, there is a 2 year statute of limitations on lawsuits so I am definitely out of the race. Those of you that have had issues recently or after July 30th 2013 may still have a chance to get a lawsuit going. There are no lawsuits in Canada in regards to Lyrica. People need to get knocking on lawyers doors. I believe that most lawyers if they take on the case will take their payment from the winnings so there is no money coming out of your pockets. Please people I am counting on you now to run with this and take down this nasty drug that has hurt many and will continue to do so. Good luck and may God bless you all and I will keep you in my prayers to ask for healing and closure!

If anyone has any money and I am talking a lot of money, who's to say that we can't put our own commercial on TV about what Lyrica has done and that some of the side effects aren't even listed by Phyzer. Maybe that will catch some important people who can help us. It is worth the try.

I live in Queensland Australia. I took Lyrica for 2 weeks. First week high as a kite, second week feel flat, I was angry, pissed off, couldn't give a s***. I normally have a care factor but gees i was ready to walk from everything and everyone. Even my Grandchildren whom are my angles. I stopped taking them cause I couldn't stay awake and am trying to run a business. S*** I was at my wits end. I saw my doctor 2 weeks later AND TOLD HIM I HAD STOPPED. He advised me to take 1 tablet a day of 25ms instead of 150gm a day. Well 1 tablet and I ended up in hospital with signs of a stroke my left knee swelled up from the day i start Lyrica i AM NOW HAVING TO GO TO A SPECIALIST for my knee. If and when you get a class action going add my name. I will stand by you and everyone else that will come on board.

Pfizer has made another pill with lyrica ingredients, so even if it gets pulled there is another to take its place. The fact that they know it causes suicide is attempted murder to me. The fact that it causes all those side effects is intent to do bodily harm resulting in death or injury. The people need to stand against these thugs.
