Lyrica Is Dangerous / Class Action Suit Anyone? (Page 12)

Updated

I have crps in both hands from carpal tunnel release...after several months, I was worse, not better. My workmens comp dr. said " You will have chronic pain the rest of your life and you will just have to learn to live with it"...oh thanks doc for screwing my hands up, not to mention how it has drastically has changed my life and limitations. I have been seeing a pain specialist ever since and that was back in 2001 when I had the release. I was on lyrica for the last 6 years, I have been off of it for three months. Now that I think back to when my severe depression started was not long since I started taking it. I don't know how many times I said I hate my life and I wish I was dead, I had thoughts of taking all my prescriptions and going to sleep for good! By the grace of god, I had my four nephews to take care of and I truly believe they saved my life! My pain management N.P wanted to keep a close eye on me when I started taking it, so I went from going every six months to every three months and when my depression got worse every two months...nothing was done, I was on 600 mg. a day, why didn't she try to lower my dose? I complained about the swelling and she said she didn't have any other patients complain, I was taking lyrica for the pain in my hands and the whole time it was making them worse! There were many time I would be driving and make a turn and not know where I was...one day I couldn't remember my address, I couldn't remember conversations I had with my boys, I had no brain! When I came off lyrica and I did it slowly...it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Hot, cold, night sweats, nauseous...I was at the grocery store and literally felt like a monster coming out of me, thank god I am off lyrica! My lawyer is checking on a class action lawsuit, all of us that has had a horrible experience with lyrica, we all need to come together and they need to pay for putting this horrible drug on the market!

Well done. My story is similar. I am now drug free and embracing life once more.

Lyrica is very similar to gabapentin which had a class action suit against it. I just weaned myself off gabapentin and the withdrawal was very difficult and I wanted to give up trying many times. I had profuse sweating, panic, and extreme itching. I am a member of a twelve step group so I had the support of the group and I also went through EMDR with my therapist to relieve my addiction to gabapentin. The whole experience is a wake up call for us all. These drugs along with the SSNRI antidepressants are addicting to our brains and create long term customers for the pharmaceutical companies because they are very difficult to get off of. These drugs are are being abused and the fact that they have a street value is very telling! I went off the topic of lyrica as I have now been investigating other drugs that are being prescribed and getting people hooked due to my gabapentin experience. Lyrica is the kissing cousin of gabapentin/neurontin so I can relate.

Mary, I have been looking into the same thing, and just started my quest to hold the makers of this drug responsible for the destruction it has caused in my life. I had been taking it to treat fibromyalgia. Due to losing and gaining different coverage over the years, I was on it a few months twice. This last time led to a suicide attempt a few weeks age and my marriage falling apart, we separated Friday. I will join you. I'm looking for as many more as I can.

Start by calling your FDA in your state and get a hold of a law firm. End the suffering.

I had short term memory loss with gabapentin which is very similar to Lyrica. There are also reports of early onset dementia. I hope that my brain can heal now that I am drug free. It has been embarrassing to admit to my stupidity regarding the use of gabapentin/Neurontin, but the more I speak up the more people that pull me aside to ask me how I got off it because they want to be free also.

I too have short term memory loss have been to Mayo clinic and nothing can be done about memory loss. I also can't spell or during conversation lose words. We need something done anout this, I would have never taken this meds if I knew it was a side effect.

I took lyrica in 2009, 2010 and 2011. I suffered from fibromyalgia, lost my job, my life, my self, and had to have surgery on my neck. It's now fused. I would fall in a grocery store, well everywhere. I became a hermit, depressed, thoughts of suicide, have lost my eye sight, keeps getting worse, lost my home, my family, got divorced, went totally away, moody, still haven't pulled out of it. I cant even function in life. I don't think ill ever get my personality back. My lifestyle is totally upside down. I cant pay bills, cant even focus to do it, short term memory loss, I forget everything. I'm just lost and cant seem to get a grip. I was a soccer coach, football athletic director team mom, softball, sunday school teacher, awana leader. My family thought I was crazy. I had wrecked my 2005 dodge durango into the back of a diesel truck and totaled it. Lost my kids, job, friends, ambition, focus & concentration. Lost 2 legal suits cause I was just out of it. I bought 4 different cars but never paid payments. I was a hot mess and still am. Who pays for all theses years lost in my life, my finances and myself. They are still prescribing this. I used to have to flip out on the pharmacy every 21 days as that's all they would give me at once. The medication was awesome for 2 months after surgery, then bam I went down and couldn't get up at all. I couldn't even brush my hair. Lost my brains I think. It's been 7 years and I still cant even function in a fortune 500 company where I worked for 15 years. I cant handle this anymore. I dont take it anymore but I can barely see whereas I used to have 20/20 vision. Help. Im in with any legal action. I have doctors, lawyers, family and friends who will all confirm.

I did a case study for this drug when I was only 14 years old for fibromyalgia (I'm 19 now). This drug ruined my life. My doctor continued me on this medicine even after the case study- even though it was NOT approved (I still don't think it's been approved) for minors. I was not warned about the SEVERE withdrawal effects. I was addicted to this drug for about 3 years. I deserve compensation, and have been thinking about a law suit for a while.

I really don't know a lot about this medicine but my position started me on Lyrica do to pains in my back and legs. He had me to stay on it for 21 days which was through August 10th. Once I stop taking it, about 3 days later and up through today, I have been having SO much pain in my arms, shoulders, hands, to the point where I can't even pick anything up and have to stay in bed because I ache so bad in my upper body. I don't know what to do about this. Nothing is helping the aches and pain. I'm waiting on a return call from my pain doctor next week... I am going to call this number because the medication is BAD news!!!

Anyone had any dental issues while on Lyrica? I have always had a great set of teeth, taking care of them and regular dental visits. I have now lost 4 teeth, with a possible 5th to be removed. I just sit and cry I'm now pretty sure Lyrica is causing this. I've been on it for four years now and all my dental issues started after taking this medication. I had trigemanal shingles a very severe case. My side effect is severe itching non stop. Four years of it, and trust me I've thought many times it's fine to dig a hole!

Ok so it sounds like we are all on the same page as in wanting to start a class action law suit but we need more info on how to go about this. If we all file with different attorneys this may not be th way to go about it. Is there someone who is willing to do the research in how to start this process and then all of us get on board? We need some solidarity if possible!

We've started organizing, a few from here and elsewhere. If you Google rarerfruit, one word, there's a fibro page on the site.
