Lupin Lisinopril Pill Size Change (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I take 10 miligram Lupin tables - have been taking them 2x a day for 20 years. Today, I opened the bottle and they were 1/2 the size. Same markings on the pill and container, same color, same manufacturer but 1/2 the size. I asked the pharmacy assistant about it and she said the company was making them smaller but they were the same. I asked how they were doing that - were they removing fillers? Why did they have so many fillers in the first place. She said she didn't know, but would transfer me to the pharmacist. I asked the pharmacist and she sounded like she had been asked what the weather would be like the next day - "oh, I don't know...yeah...I don't really know." I don't feel comfortable taking these.

Re: Andre (# 34) Expand Referenced Message

On 30mg got new reformulated in nov 2 saw dr on 9 had bad cough more chest pain bps was okay he said. Went er on thanksgiving weekend bad chest pain short of breath. 8 hrs nitro and 2 I’ve sent home. Back again this week would not change prescription just offered same treatment. Called cardiologist still gone till next year. Ask for samples branded Lisinopril. Said no as the doctor always sees me instead of the pa or nurse so cannot alter meds. Insurance says which DR. You can see. Why does it have to be so difficult !.

I never had any side effects when I was taking old version (larger size) of Lisinopril for 5 years. Now my eyes are very blurry since I started taking new version of Lisinopril( smaller size) about 3 mos ago, I cannot tolerate any more plus I feel dizzy, headache and heat beats fast( went ER 3 days ago, did all kind of tests, EKG, Cat Scan etc, all normal).Today I left a message to my dr and wanted him to change to Diovan( my sister is taking no side effects at all). Hope I have good luck on Diovan.

Connie, yes I also have the smaller pill and have nausea and flu like symptoms which never had with the larger pill.... Have been taking these for 40 yrs. with no problem... I talke to my pharmacist at Walmart and was told that when certain fillers are removed you can have reactions.... He also said maybe to try lisinopril with the Hctz ....I also noticed this new little pill does not control my B/P as well... I will have to see my Doctor.......

Ask your cardiologist for a new Rx and then ask your pharmacist to fill it from a manufacturer/distributor other than Lupin. There's Watson, Sandoz and I'm sure others that have Lisinopril. If your present pharmacy only gets Lisinopril thru Lupin, try a different pharmacy. My Walgreens pharmacist says there are several companies other than Lupin for this drug.

I noticed the pills were smaller but took the pills as I normally have. I started feeling sick and thought about how the pills were smaller. I decided to check the inscription just to make sure my pharmacy didn't give me the wrong meds. I started feeling bad so I made sure that I took all my meds as directed. Something that I am usually bad at. I have been back and forth to the doctors. I have had 2 EKG'S. A 48 hour Holter monitor and a 30 day monitor in addition to other test. All the test have came back normal. So I decided to stop taking ALL meds. Trying to help myself and figure out whats wrong. I started feeling better!!! I recently went back to my cardiologist and explained to him that I stopped taking my meds. He told me to go back on my Lisinopril. I have been taking them for about 2 weeks now and not feeling well. I am going to stop taking them again and monitor my Bp and just take 1 of my BP meds. I sure hope we can figure out whats going on!

I have been taking lisinopril 20 mg 2x daily for five years. On August 13, 2017 I received my 90-day refill and noticed the smaller size of the pill. I asked the pharmacist at Walmart and was told there was no difference between the larger and smaller sized pills. My BP was always well controlled and ranged 130/70 -110/60. I track my blood pressure and for the last 80 days it has continued to range 150/80 -180/100. There has been no unusual health concerns during this time. Can I have my cardiologist prescribe another manufacturer besides Lupin?

Glad to find this forum. I've used Lisinopril 20mg for years with no problems. When I received the new size pill I thought nothing of it and took it like normal. Then I developed a horrible rash on my torso which I treated as poison ivy because I garden. 2 weeks later the rash had spread to both hips. I couldn't think of any other reason for the rash except for the size of the new lisinopril tablet. I scrounged around and found a small supply of the old, larger tablet and took those for 2 weeks. Guess What? The rash subsided and pretty much went away. After talking with pharmacist, she gave me lisinopril made by another company, still a smaller tablet and I've been taking those for about 2 weeks. Guess what....yeah the rash is back.

I've been on 20mg for about 5 years my last refill was the smaller sized pills and since I've been taking them I've been running a fever of about 99.5 every night. Anybody else noticed a fever with these?

Re: Sue (# 3) Expand Referenced Message

I switched to another manufactor because I think removing the fillers may have caused me to not absorb it as much. The ER doctor said my medication needed changing

I have been taking 20mg Lupin Lisinopril for 4 years with no problem & a very steady blood pressure of 120/80. Since the pill size changed, I have been having major headaches and my blood pressure is swinging from very high to very low. Filler removal my eye. Will ask my Dr. for a different prescription.

Zestril or Prinivil are the brand names for Lisinopril - both are expensive.

No. Not yet. A change I have noticed are these incredibly dry lips I ‘be been having. I’m wondering if it is due to the new spill. It’s THE only thing I can think of. I have also had an increase in inflammation in my legs. Wondering if it’s connected to the different Lisinopril as well.

Re: Brandt (# 37) Expand Referenced Message

Please ask your pharmacy to get your lisinopril 20 from another manufacturer. I got mine from Watson....but there are several other manufacturers that make lisinopril... Lupin is from India.....they changed their lisinopril and made it smaller. I could not take it either... I use CVS pharmacy, I am sure your pharmacy will help you... Good Luck.

Re: Lili (# 44) Expand Referenced Message

Following up to my post I'd like to let you know that I'm feeling great since being back on the original larger 20mg size--no longer with Lupin, now getting my Lisinopril with Sandoz. Highly recommend you talk to your pharmacist about changing as well.

Re: Lonnie (# 17) Expand Referenced Message

or the reformulation is NOT working.... I'm thinking a few hundred post on the difference since they changed, points to an obvious problem....

I was told the same thing, they removed the fillers...for me I could not take the new pill. My blood pressure went out of control...felt sick, headache. I called CVS and they ordered me in lisinopril from WATSON (made in Switzerland) a round yellow pill which I have NO problems with and my blood pressure in back under control....Lisinopril (made by LUPIN) is made in India which I read on line. Not sure why they took out the fillers but there are many other co. that make lisinopril.... hopes this helps I am on 20 1xday.
