Since I have started taking losartan 25mg I have had high blood sugar. I have not changed anything I'm eating or doing. I have been taking it for 6 weeks. I have been diabetic for many years and it has always been controlled. I saw my doctor in February and everything was fine until I saw my heart doctor and he started me on this for my heart failure. It doesn't list this a common side effect but a rare one. Have you heard of this before? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. The good news is that there are other medications you can try to improve heart function that are in the same drug class. When I had congestive heart failure about 5 years ago and had bad reactions to many medications, but doctor put me on Atacand. It contains ...

I started Losartan (50 mg/1 per day) in May, after battling the Lisinopril cough for 2 months. I have had a lot of pain in my feet and my achilles tendon on one ankle. I also have gained weight and have increased appetite. I also have pain in my knees. What is a good substitute for Losartan? Is it possible that these things I have described are caused by Losartan? Also, what about fatigue? Thank youi. ## Hello, CJ! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. Yes, it could be due to the Losartan, it does sometimes cause these types of issue as side effects in some people that take it. I experienced similar issues from several blood pressure/cardiac medications, too. Atacand is a similar medication, it contains the active ingredient Candesartan, it's also available as a generi...

I had been taking 10 mg Losartan for several years. Checked my blood pressure yesterday and it was at 180/80. So I took one 5mg Coveram yesterday, and today my blood pressure is 117/77. No side effects whatsoever. Coveram 5mg worked immediately. ## It really varies from person to person, different medications work better for different people, since everyone is different. The NIH lists the typical ones for this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How are you doing, now?

Hi I am taking above dose of all 3 meds. and I'm suffering w/lot of side effects. But Dr. says there is NO WAY WHAT YOU SAY YOUR SIDE EFFECTS ARE DUE TO THEM IS TOTALLY NOT TRUE. I expressed to my physician that I am experiencing weight gain with Losartan, however she doesn't believe me. I was originally taking Lisinopril but experienced tremendous hair loss. Since the past year, I have gained much of the 40 pounds back that I had previously loss. Furthermore, my blood pressure was more controlled with the ACE Inhibitor. Please help. I'm thinking about seeking help frim a homeopathic doctor. ## Weight gain can be a normal side effect of most blood pressure and cardiac medications, but that usually levels out around 10 pounds, or so. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Do you keep your diet low in sodium and fat?

I am taking 50mg because I am diabetic. Dr told me that it is recommended for diabetics. I have always had low be, 113/63 is normal for me. But I often have dizziness and have even had therapy to adjust the crystals in the ear which helped. One dr wanted me to stop them another says no. What is a pt supposed to do? Still should they be a pm thing to offset the dizzied? ## Hello, Susan! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Yes, it you aren't taking it for high blood pressure, or a heart condition, it should be fine to take them whenever it is most convenient for you. The FDA lists the other side effects as possibly including nausea, and increased urination.

It's the first time I've done this. The doctor's office said to just watch for side effects. Should I be concerned? ## Generally, taking a double dose just once isn't considered harmful, but you may experience more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and shallow breathing. If any of them become severe, you should seek emergency medical attention. How are you feeling? Did you experience any problems?

My Dr changed me from Losartan HCTZ 100 to Losartan ... I've recently been diagnosed as a diabetic but I've been on low Losartan HCTZ for over 10 years and I'm wondering with the change this is going to have on my body . Am I going to retain lots of water and become swollen will my bp rise does anyone know ? ## It is possible, but there's way to know ahead of time, until you try taking it for a couple weeks. Have you made the switch, yet? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

On Losartan .5, less than 3 weeks In newly taking Losartan (no adverse side effect symptoms) average blood pressure has increased moderately during this time period . Physician advised. Curious if this experience was repeated in any clinical drug trials or other patients with a subsequent longer term use of the Losartan reversing the trend line to lowering BP. ## There is always a risk that any given medication could cause the opposite of its intended effects in some people that take it. It is not very common, but yes, the NIH and the FDA both note that it is possible and has happened, before. It may be that it is not the right medication to help you and you need to try something else. There are many blood pressure medications available. Has there been any change? ## Thanks for the feed...

I just got my refill for Losartan with 113 on one and S on the other side, so I'm wondering if this is the right one? My pills are usually green and oval shaped. ## Anita, I can confirm that a white round pill with the imprint 113 HH is Losartan Potassium 100 mg. (NDC code 16571-502). Although I am a bit confused because in your message you are also saying that your refill contained pills with the imprint 113 S which also happens to be another brand of Losartan Potassium 100 mg (NDC code 43547-362). It is common to see the same generic drug manufactured by many different companies, thereby taking different appearances. Can you please share any other details? Which pills did in fact appear in your refill? The ones described in the title of this page, or in your message?

oblong pill with horizontal cut in the middle KU119 ## my blood pressure seem to be dropping 62-67,70 during day and i have several bad feeling spells lasting long at times and i wanting to know if my isosorb mono 60mg er along with my other meds, losartan-hctz, metoprolol,klor-con have anything to do with some days i feel sick as a dog as the old sayin ## I'm going to add some information here for anyone else seeking similar details on blood pressure issues. When it's dropping severely low, like Arthur stated, there is always a chance that it could be due to one or more of the medications you're taking. In that case, the best thing you can do is talk to your doctor about it. They can usually help you determine which one(s) may be causing the issue, since some are more prone...

Because of my medication's schedule I must take losartan, metformin and norvasc together. Are there any side effects or risk for doing so? ## I didn't find any problems, or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check. The FDA does warn that you may experience more side effects than usual, when taking multiple medications, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and increased urination. Is there anything else I can help with?

Taking 100mg Losartan 1x a day and I don't recall if i took it. Will taking another dose hurt me? ## Generally, doubling up just once isn't harmful, but it is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. The FDA warns that you may experience more severe side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and frequent urination. Are you on any other medications?

After stopping losartan how long does it remain in your system for? When you take the pill in the morning will its effects last until the following night? ## No, it will only be in your body for about 10 to 12 hours, according to NIH reports. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Did your doctor instruct you to stop taking it?

If I'm prescribed both pills, do I have to take them together? What if I only take the Losartan without the Hydrochlorothiazide? ## You should take them both, as prescribed. They are often used together to help lower high blood pressure and to treat some cardiac conditions. Taking just the Losartan may lower it some, but not as much as taking both. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Did your doctor instruct you to take both? ## Someone has asked this, but I didn't see a specific response to it - Should losartan and hydrochlorothiazide be taken at the same time or different times of day for BP control?

Is there a safe over the counter pain medication to take while using losartan 50mg? I have a painful bunion on my toe. ## Hello, Nate! How are you? I'm sorry about the bunion, they can be very painful. What is your usual preferred medication? There are too many available for me to be able to check them all for interactions for you. Can you please post back and clarify? There are some over the counter topical products that can help by numbing it, or adding a layer of cushioning. The NIH also states that there are some minor surgical options that can help.

Should I take losartan potassium 25 mg at night or in the mornings? It makes me very sleepy and my doctor didn't specify but my pharmacist said to take it in the morning. ## Yes, it is usually taken in the morning, so it can help control your blood pressure and heart rate, during the times of day where you will be most active and may experience the most fluctuations, according to the FDA. How long have you been taking it? Most side effects are transient and will go away, once your body gets used to a medication, but that could take 4 to 5 weeks. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination.

I have taken Losartan for only 2 days. Today I sat down and fell asleep for a few house, it was like I was dead to the world. Is this a side effect? Does it make you cough? ## Hello, Linda! How are you feeling? Losartan can cause some drowsiness, but no, it shouldn't knock you out like that, especially having taken it for such a short period of time. Learn more Losartan details here. It can cause a cough, but that is not a very common side effect. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? What have your recent blood pressure readings been? ## Plz tell me whether the losar h is side effects after taking a long time. ## I take cozaar at night and brilanta after about 2 hours I have arm pain and heart rate goes up and blood pressure could this be reaction to meds I have an appt to see my Dr

The first question is the subject line. The second question is my directions state take one every day yet my BP is high several hours before my next dose. I guess taking it twice a day at a lower dosage might be in order. Of course I will run that by my Dr. The question is what potential damage am I incurring during those hours before the next daily dose ? The third question is, does oxycontin/oxycodone have contraindications taken a few hours before or after the Hyzaar ? ## Hello, Capri! How are you? No, you need to take it consistently every day, don't adjust your dosage or take an additional dosage, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. It is normal to have blood pressure fluctuations throughout the day and pre-med when it's time for the next dose. However, it takes abou...

i have been using repace h 50mg for 1yr now ,and my bp remain 130/80 with know side efect can i stop taking them? ## Hello, Wachira! How are you? No, it is not a good idea to just stop taking them, that could actually be very dangerous. If you abruptly stop them, it could cause a rebound effect that may cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go very high, which could put you in life threatening danger. Additionally, if it is the only thing keeping your blood pressure at more normal levels, it will start to go up again, if you're no longer taking the medication. Learn more Losartan details here. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. What has your doctor advised? ## Dear sir. My self teju my wife suffering from mysthiniya gravis past 6 month she si taken tablets now steroi...
