What kind of cold medicine is okay to take with the blood pressure medicine losartan? ## @Sunshine, For liability reasons, I think it's generally best to discuss this with your prescribing doctor or pharmacist. However you can always look up potential drug interactions via the University of Maryland Medical Center at: umm.edu/health/medical/drug-interaction-tool That webpage allows you to plug in specific drug names for an evaluation of their combined pharmacology and what/if any risk factors (or side effects) may be expected in certain scenarios. Sorry I couldn't give you more specific details, but if you have a medication in mind you can simply plug it into that drug interaction tool... Nevertheless, I'd still encourage you to double check with your medical provider(s) jus...

I accidentally took 2. 50 mg losartan this morning.I am worried, will I be ok? ## Hello, Viki! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? That's not a dangerous dose, so to speak, unless your allergic to the medication, or your blood pressure and heart rate are already very low. It could cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness and increased urination as reported by the U.S. FDA. ## I was taking my supplements this morning and accidentally took the 100 mg tablet of my husbands losartan I had out next to my supplements. My blood pressure is 128 over 78 right now. Should I go to the emergency room? Or what can I do to offset the drug?

what is the side effect of repace 25 mg.? why veltam plus is given by the doctor? why beta blocker medicine is given by the cardiologist? ## A cardiologist handles the branch of medicine that deals with diseases and abnormalities of the heart. For this reason it is understandable that he or she would prescribe a beta blocker. Beta blockers are a type of medicine often used to treat high blood pressure and heart related problems. Veltam Plus tablets are prescribed for bladder and prostate disorders. A doctor would consider prescribing this in the event that the patient has a bladder or prostate disorder. Side effects of Repace (Losartan) can include any of the following: -dizziness -leg, knee, or back pain -muscle cramps or weakness -diarrhea -heartburn -decreased sensitivity to touch -s...

They say that if blood pressure isn't lowered by taking hyzaar 50/12.5 mgs once a day, then upping the dosage to hyzaar 100/12.5 mgs will not make much of a difference... Is that true? ## It really depends, if it doesn't work, at all, that can be true and the person will most likely need to try a different medication. If it helps some, but doesn't take it down to the ideal level, then a higher dose could help. I experienced this, when I first started Labetalol, the initial dose of 100mgs did help, but I wasn't at the best numbers, so we took it up to 200mgs and now it works very well for me. However, I've also had others I tried that did nothing, so my cardiologist didn't think it was worth trying higher doses, since they just didn't seem to work for me. The ...

The losartan by Cambe manufacturer I have taken for years. This week my pharmacist gave me losartan by Metho manufacturers. Now I have face swelling. Coukd this be caused by changing generic manufacturers and the different ingredients. Also it itches. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Those could be the symptoms of an allergic reaction starting, according to NIH symptom lists, so it would be best to have this checked out by a medical professional. Have you experienced any other problems, such as difficulty breathing, or hives? Are you on any other medications?

fighting high blood pressure but want to know if it would be better to split 100mg dose to 50mg twice a day. Seems like I start the day off way behind and spend the rest of the day trying to get it down...over 100 most mornings 95 is down!! ## Yes, it can be taken that way, I split my doses, with my doctor's approval, because it works better for me that way. Generally, they only prescribe them as once daily doses because many people forget to take multiple doses throughout the day, so it's easier to keep a patient compliant, if they only have to take them once daily. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. My cardiologist even specifically prescribes mine as tablets to be cut and taken twice ...

Is it safe to cut my losartan 50 mg in half when the pill is not scored? Pharmacy said I will not be getting even distribution with each half but I want to know your experiences... ## There shouldn't be a problem, part of pill manufacturing is making sure the medication is evenly suspended throughout, my doctor approves of my doing so and it's prescribed for me directly from cardiology for heart function. However, there are 50mg tablets that you can get that are scored and they should provide you with them, if your doctor writes your prescription as you needing to cut the tablets. There will always be a slight variance between doses, because no cut is absolutely precise, but it is usually not significant. I actually have one here, now, that is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma, i...

Hi, I am a male 64 years old and have been on Losartan 100mg for around three years. I have put on weight, have horrible backache, tiredness, itchy skin, and other symptoms. I bike 15 kms a day and have been on a diet eating one main meal a day with cereal at lunch time. I've recently started taking 50 mg at 9am then the other 50 mgs at 9 pm. I check my blood pressure three times a day, and it is usually between 130/72 with a pulse of 99. Not usually above or below this range. My question is, can i reduce to 50 mgs a day as my bp is stable to reduce the side effects? Or is there another tablet that doesn't make me put on weight? Ive read Benicar is similar drug with no weight increase, or Dirovan? Thank you. ## I have been on Benicar for 5 years with no side effect at all and no...

Good day, I've been using Fortzaar for 2 years now, and as soon as I ran out of tablets, I get severe muscle, joint & stomach pains. My face also feels numb on the one side, though my blood pressure is normal 137/77, as soon as I start taking the tablets again all the above symtoms disappear?? ## You really shouldn't run out and miss tablets, because it can cause dangerous rebound effects. The other slight withdrawal effects you've experienced are also normal, if you suddenly stop taking a medication that your body is used to. This medication should be taken regularly, as prescribed and you should pick up a refill, before you run out. Learn more Losartan details here. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. Can I take these two tablets in the morning together (Losartan 50mg and Amlodipine 5mg)? ## Yes, they can be taken together, as long as they have both been prescribed for you. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Multiple medications are often prescribed to try to bring someone's blood pressure down as fast and safely as possible, or to gain control of a cardiac condition. For example I take 2, Labetalol for high blood pressure, and Losartan for heart function. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking Losartan 100 mg and also Losartan/HCTZ 100-12.5 mg. Is this safe? Should I take them at the same time of day? I am having a problem with my kidneys. Could this be the reason? ## my pharmacist stated that it should be taken in the morning. ## Did you doctor provide you with any special instructions? It might be easier to split them up, taking one in the morning and one night. Many people prefer to take a medication with HCTZ in the morning, since it can cause increased urination as a side effect, according to the FDA, and they don't want their slumber disrupted. You should, of course, always follow your doctor's instructions, though. Yes, the one with the HTCZ could be affect your kidneys. Has your doctor done a blood panel to check? My Dr. took me off lisinopril-hctz because of headaches and body weakness. I felt better with the losartan 50mg but my blood pressure shot up to 200/100. Would the losartan work in a combo with lisinopril-hctz; possibly taking the losartan in the evening? ## Do not mix meds. Pharmacist told me that. I was taken off Lisinopril and switched to Losartan 50 mg a day. Blood pressure does not stay regular. I get dizzy. I hate bp meds. I hope we get this straightened out. Losartan seems to be better so far but I am scared that my BP will not get better. Just do not mix medications. Call your doctor and he can adjust. I am taking losartan 100 mg tablet every morning before breakfast. I also take Plavix 75 mg and Levothyroxine 100 mcg in a.m. By lunch time I feel very tired and don't have much energy the rest of the day. After dinner I take Narvasc 5 mg, Zetia 10 mg, aspirin 325 mg, and cephalexine 250 mg. My doctor doesn't seem to be very concerned about the fatigue but I feel it is interfering with my life. Such as gardening, exercising, shopping, etc. Any suggestions? ## How long have you been taking these medications? I see that you posted this back on March 31st, so it's been a few weeks now. Just wondering how you are feeling? Fortunately, Losartan's half-life is only about 2 hours, and the amount of time in between the two doses was far away enough that I probably would've imagined everything would turn out fine in the long run once it left your system; albeit might cause some unwanted side effects in the moment...
