Please help identify this pill. It is solid white oval/elliptical no scoring or inscription other than 13 on one side only. It is supposed to be losartan 100mg. However I can find no verification that this is so. Thanks G ## Hello, Gee Gee! How are you? Where did you get it? I can't find a listing in the prescription drug databases for any tablet with just a 13 on it. Losartan is an ARB that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and stomach pain. I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. Does anyone else recognize this tablet? ## I got it from my pharmacy and was affraid a mistake had b...

Am taking losartan/hct100-25 once every day, for hgh blood pressure, and simvistatin for lowering high cholesterol, one every other day, are these two drugs prescribed work the same, am I over dosing on the same drug? ## No, they are very different medications and do not treat the same things. The Losartan with Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Learn more: And Simvastatin is used to help lower cholesterol. I also am taking losartan 100 mg, and for about a month having side effects. Walgreen's always gave me the round pill, but now it's the long oval with13 on it. Why the change? What can I do about it. The pharmacist said they dispense whatever comes in. Are they from different pharmaceutical companies? They can't give me a straight answer! ## Hello, Virginia! How are you? Yes, this tablet is manufactured by Virtus Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Losartan, so it is just manufactured by a different company. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi.too am having the exact same issue.I ended up in the ER with severe dizziness...

Can I take two 25 mg tablets instead of one 50 mg? My doc has me on 50 mg once daily, but I'm waiting on my mail order Rx and still have 25's that haven't expired yet. Maybe 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening until my 50's arrive? ## Yes, you can do that, it would be the same as taking 50mgs. The FDA does warn that you may experience more side effects for a few weeks, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?

2 years ago I was taking linsinopril, developed a dry cough. Doc. Said was allergy to ace inhibitors. Switched me to losartan. I have now developed a dry cough again. I was checked for allergies, took prilosec to see if it was acid reflux, no for each. Losartan has a side effect of dry cough also. The last dose of losartan I took was 48 hours ago, still have the cough. Is the losartan still in my system? ## I have been off the losartan for over a week but the cough continues. I guess my next idea is to see an ENT, maybe there is something there? ## It might take a little longer for the cough to go away, when I experienced it from Lisinopril, a few years ago, it took about 3 weeks for it to go away. According to FDA reports, it is not an allergy, just a side effect that some people exper...

I take 100 mg losartan a day along with 10mg amlodipine. I have really bad aches and pains in all my joints and muscles. Is losartan to blame as I did not have it before? ## It is not a statin drug, but it can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it. The NIH lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. The increased urination could also cause it, if you are becoming dehydrated. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## I get dizziness and almost unbearable foot pain. I had stopped taking it, for this reason, but the doctor still prescribes it. ## I used to take 100mg of Lorstan too, along with 10mg of Amlodipine with Hydrocholorthiazide 25mg. for blood pressure control (high). I noticed tha...

Well I cold turkey quit it (losartan 100 mgs a day for 6 months). I couldnt take it anymore. I didnt experience anything bad from stopping it cold turkey. If anything the next day I felt a little better and everyday after I started feeling better and better. Its only been 10 days that I quit it and every side effect is completely gone except the sh...

I also take ecosprin 150, clopilett 75 in the afternoon and tonact 10 at night... With these i am comfortable and my bp usually is within limits around 140/80. Losartan 100 mg / 574 imprint / white / oval ## I am taking white oblong pill wiith p23 on one side and LU on the other what is it and who makes it? ## If the tablet with the 574 on it also has a logo, then it does contain 100mgs of Losartan, an ARB, that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. I am 74, in good shape, and recently received a pacemaker to compensate for a left bundle branch block and leaky mitral valve. I monitor my BP daily. My 6 yr average is 128/68; consistent. I am on 12.5 mg Losartan (3 months) which has lowered my systolic to ~120 but raised my diastolic to ~76. I now have minor dizzyness (after getting up) but no other significant side effects. Why is the diastolic higher? Is this a potential problem? ## Normal readings are considered to be 120/80, and a little higher for seniors, so those aren't usually dangerous numbers, according to FDA reports. However, the dizziness might be a concern. You said it isn't severe, but it would be a good idea to inform your doctor of the issue to be safe. It could be that this just isn't the right medication...

Just found out that I am pregnant and I've been taking losartan. My pharmacist said to stop taking it immediately because of risks!!! Will everything be ok? I'm estimating I'm about 4-6 weeks pregnant, but I don't go in for an ultrasound for 2 more weeks! ## You should speak to your PCP about switching to a different medication. Labetalol is one that is considered safe to take during pregnancy, but the final decision is between you and your doctor. But it's something you can ask them about. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Congratulations on the baby! Are you on any other medications?

I was going to take an ibuprofen and accidentally took one of my mother's Losartan 25mg tablets. Will I be ok? ## It is always best to check with a medical professional, but just one instance will not likely result in any adverse effects. The FDA warns that it could cause nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

I had high BP for several months and tried all combinations without success. I had a bad reaction to Beta Blockers and Calcium blockers. My BP became normal (120/80) just a few days after I started taking Losartan/HCTZ. It was magical for about a month but starting this Monday my BP jumped to 156/98; then for last two days in the morning 145/86 and in the evening 130/92. What could cause this sudden rise? What can I do to get back to 120/80? ## Your blood pressure will never reach 120/80 and stay there, it is always going to fluctuate depending on the time of day you are checking, when you've taken your medications, what you've eaten, activity levels and etc. Why are you checking it so frequently? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, he...

I took one pill and an hour later took another one.... What do i need to do? Will it hurt me? ## While it is always best to check with a medical professional, according to most FDA reports, doubling up just once is usually not dangerous, unless someone is allergic/sensitive to a medication. But it may cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, which could include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increase urination. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

My old white oval losartan pill with the imprint cl14 did not mention on the bottle that potassium was part of the formula. I recently started taking two tramadol 50 mg for severe joint pain due to RA. At the same time, my blood pressure was high (226/108) so i took 25 mg metoprolol and 25 mg losartan. Will my blood pressure drop too quickly? ## Hello, Irene! How are you? Has there been any change? These medications will not work to instantly lower blood pressure. They must be taken consistently over a period of time to have their full beneficial effect in your body, they cannot only be taken on an as needed basis. With readings that high, you could be in danger and should see your doctor for assistance, or if you've been instructed to take these medications regularly, you should start doing so. The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urinatio...

On my prescription for Losartan/HCTZ 100-25mg last month the pill was teardrop shaped and yellow. I just had it refilled and the pill is rectangular, white, and has ZD 19 stamped on it. I think the pharmacy made a mistake. I have not taken them. Please advise!!! ## No, they haven't made a mistake, this tablet also contains 100mgs of Losartan and 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, which are commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It is common for a pharmacy to switch, depending on whatever company is offering the cheapest price, at the time they have to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible, for their customers that don't have insurance. Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different...
