Hello. My son is on 50mg Losartan for prevention of aortic root growth due to Marfan syndrome. After about six months of taking it, he started to experience episodes of feeling “funny.” This included brief nausea/drop in the pit of his stomach, dizziness, and a feeling like he didn’t want to move his arms and legs. In the recent past, this has progressed into what appear to be petit mal or absence seizures—brief periods of staring blankly and not responding. He still reports that sudden drop in the pit of his stomach preceding an episode and then a feeling of not wanting to move arms and legs. I have been on medication for high blood pressure for six months and it has not come down much. I'm still at stage 2. I’m on Losatan Potassium 100 mg QD. I get terrible head sweats within 10 min of being in my garden. Plus very red face, dizzy head and headache. Am I dehydrated? I found some pills with an I or Roman numeral 1 on one side and either a 9 or a 6 on the other with a line going up and down in the middle. My Losartan 50mg white round pill has an odor when opened. It also states on the bottle from Walmart, "issued MAR 2015". Is this good? ## Hello, Palette! How are you? If it isn't coated, Losartan always has an odd odor, I've taken it from several different manufacturers over the years and I've experienced this, as well, I can also tell you that tasting it is even worse!!! I've accidentally had it happen, before, and it was not pleasant! Pills generally have an expiration date of one year from when you receive them from your pharmacy, if they are in a normal pharmacy bottle, but the expiration date can be as long as 4 to 5 years, if they are still in the original factory sealed container. I was on losartan 50mg a little over 3 weeks and started having chest pain. The first 3 times I had chest pain thought it might be heartburn. By the fourth week of taking losartan this pass Monday night I thought I was having a heart attack. Called my dr and went in they did an EKG (everything was fine) and the dr. did not want me to come off the losartan she now prescribed losartan with a 12.5 water pill. I have been on losartan 100mg od, lisinopril 20mg od, bystolic 10mg plus triamt/HCTZ tab 37/5/25 od for a few years to bring my blood pressure down which it did to between 130/88-140/90 but now it is back up to 190/90-200/100. I have been taking 20 mg lisinopril with the diuretic and my blood pressure has been anywhere from 140?/90? To 150?/98 or so. Today my doctor switched me to losartan hctz100-25 mg. My doctor took me off Lisinopril 10 MG Tab and put me on Losartan 50-12.5MG Tab because my potassium was too high. Looking at the containers each came in, I see that they both have potassium in them. How is it helping to switch me from one to the other except that the Losartan costs more? I have been on Losartan for about 6 months now and can't take it anymore. I am having pain in all of my joints and it now has moved to my sternum. My doctor can't believe it is from the medication, but surprise.....when I don't take it I feel fine. It usually takes a few weeks to get out of my system. I had to do the same thing with another HBP medicine before. Losing weight, eating right, and exercising is the only way to go. Don't keep financing the Pharmaceutical companies. ## Hello, Lesley! My mom is 81. She has been taking Losartan for about a year. I have lived with her the past months and am noticing a great increase in her memory and confusion. She can drive, balance her check book and pay her bills on time, but her short term memory is very poor. Has anyone else stopped taking Losartan because their dr felt it was causing these types of symptoms? ## No, Losartan has not been known to cause those types of symptoms.
