Losartan Potassium 50 Mg Tab Side Effects (Page 2)
UpdatedI am taking Losartan 50 mgs twice a day and I am getting terrible joint & muscle pain. Can it be from the meds? Orrrrrrr could it be from the simvistatin?
Anyone interested in a more natural alternative to HBP medications should look into "Carditone". It is an herbal blend available through many vitamin/supplement suppliers. Comments from many of those taking it claim it brought their BP under control. I have recently started taking it in addition to my Losartan 50. I am having Losartan side effects as described in this thread.
I also was on Losartan for several months. The pain in my left knee is so bad that I had X-ray and MRI done as I thought it was a torn meniscus. Tests showed nothing wrong. I stopped the Losartan last week and am getting some relief but knee is still painful. I wonder just how long it will take before knee will feel normal again, if ever. I must say though that I am sleeping better and the strange dreams/nightmares have stopped. I also seem to have more energy. To control my blood pressure without medication, I have started the DASH diet which includes food rich in potassium, magnesium, and calcium. I am also taking aged garlic extract supplement and just ordered hibiscus tea. I understand these two things naturally lower blood pressure. And of course watch your salt intake. Since stopping the Losartan my pressure is a little higher but not excessively so. As soon as my knee feels better, I will start exercising again.
My husband has been on losartan for 4 years and has been experiencing muscle deterioration. I met a patient who was taking losartan and ended up with a fatty liver, (the guy doesn't even drink!). The heart is a muscle and muscle deterioration is horrible, folks! I've seen my husband go from a strong naturopath and nutritionist who worked out regularly, to a man who is experiencing the muscle deterioration! We stopped all salt and the med immediately and started supplementation to recover of his muscles. Going to his doctors, they just wanted to put him on other meds with more damaging side effects. I don't trust them anymore. Losartan doesn't build muscle, it makes it deteriorate - and the heart is a muscle! I don't want to lose my husband and I will fight for his life! Please stop taking losartan!
I accidentally took a 50mg losartan potassium twice (about 4 hours apart). I didn't think I had taken it, but I had. Should I be ok?
Can losartan 100mg cause deep facial wrinkles? I am 62 years old and since I've been taking this drug I have developed deep wrinkles on my cheeks. I also take bisoprolol 10mg.
I'm prescribed Losartan and the manufacturer I was initially taking got changed to Torrent. I started on July 6th and began breaking out with hives on September 15th.

This situation with a "hopitalist" as not come to my city yet. Thanks for the info.
I started taking losartan potassium 50 mg 2 months ago and have this non-stop agitated shaking feeling in my neck, arms and hands. Is this one of the side effects? I am so scared as my Dr said it is 'essential tremors'...but I did not have it before I took blood pressure medication.
I am typing this at 5am since I am having extreme calf muscle pain. I have hypertension and they have me on Losartan 25 mg... I have only been on the medication for 5 days. I can not sleep due to the calf muscle pain in both legs, but mostly my left one. HELP!
Re: Robert (# 29)
You should talk to your Dr. right away. You may need different medicine.

Am anxious about taking Lozar daily. What can I do to control my high blood pressure naturally? Thank you very much.
Re: Darle (# 27)
Edit: We do have hospitalists I found out. Drs. have admitting privileges but hospitalists care for their patients in the hospital. Not sure this is a good thing.
A patient has severe vertigo after stopping Losartan. It's even worse when she lies down. She stopped Losartan without tapering and has this severe vertigo. Will it go away over a period of time?
I've been on Losartan for 2yrs, but because of the side effects I stopped it myself, went to the ER due to pinching/squeezing in my chest and my blood pressure was 159/100. Should I continue taking them?
Re: Joyce (# 34)
NO, you should get off and tell your Dr. about your side effects. Ask, if you can do a natural treatment.
Re: David (# 2)
What are other alternatives to stop hypertensio? Do premenaupausal caues hypertension?
Re: christine (# 33)
Taking Losartan should not be stopped abruptly. Ask your doctor. Dosage will be reduced gradually. I had vertigo and shortness of breath but it' s due to very high uric acid and cholesterol. They are gone in a couple of days after starting Allopurinol and Resuvastatin. I have mild leg pain as side effect of Losartan. No matter how much we take Losartan, if we don' t correct our high cholesterol and uric acid, blood pressure will continue to fluctuate .Am talking about my personal experience.
I have been taking Losartan 50mg a.m and 50mg p.m. to treat high blood pressure for about 4 years. I have been having fatigue and muscle aches for about the last 6 months. Is it possible to develop these conditions after prolonged use of Losartan?
I have been on Losartan 50mg for about one year, after starting on Lisinopril 10 mg for about a month (unfortunately Lisinopril caused a cough). About one month ago I tried to transition to Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg, and it was a horrible experience. I ended up in the ER with repeated painful blood pressure spikes of over 170/110. The spikes lasted more than a week until the Losartan built up in my system again. As a result, I quit caffeine, quit salt and lost nearly 20 lbs this month. Now I am considering a transition to Losartan 25 mg in the morning plus Amlodipine 2.5 mg in the evening. Losartan 50 mg alone either results in too low blood pressure (100/70) or too high (140/95) throughout the day. I have split my 50 mg dose into a morning and afternoon dose of 25 mg each. Does anyone have any good experiences of switching classes? Is there any way to minimize the rebound effect of ARBs or ACE inhibitors? I have had numerous tests and all check out that I am healthy (apart from high blood pressure), although I am sedentary and overweight. I should add that I tried cutting back my dose to 37.5 mg (one and a half 25 mg tablets) using Propranolol 5 mg to help in the evening, but Propranolol slowed my heart rate too much and did not control my blood pressure at all.

Hello, I had the same symptoms after one year on Losartan. Plus cold hands and feet, intense thirst, and anxiety. I think it is related to Losartan being an Angiotensin Receptor Blocker and the build up of Angiotensin or its precursors in your body. Has this been resolved for you?
