EVERY TIME I GET A REFILL IT IS A DIFFERENT PILL. IT HAS IN THE PAST BEEN GREEN, NOW IT IS A VERY PALE YELLOW.. 50 MG OF LOSARTAN??? LUP???
DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE LUP IS?? AND WHY THE CHANGE EACH TIME. ANYONE TAKE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. LAST TIME IT WAS GREEN AND SAID TEVA USA

Losartan is a generic medication and once a medication is available for generic production, it is usually manufactured by quite a few different companies. The reason whatever pills you get from your pharmacy may change regularly is due to the fact that, when they need to reorder, they will order from whichever one of those companies is offering the cheapest price, at that time.

This is how they keep costs as low as possible for their customers that may not have insurance and might need to pay cash for their prescriptions.

The LU or LUP on tablets is the logo of a drug manufacturer named Lupin Pharmaceuticals.

Under U.S. federal law, all manufactured tablets or capsules must have a unique marking on them to enable their identification, in case of an emergency or problem. Thus, each company must use some marking on their pills that is listed with the FDA and allows them to be identified according to which company made them, the active ingredient and the relevant dosage.

If someone is found unconscious, with pills laying around them and signs show that they have likely overdosed, proper emergency medical treatment that could save their lives may depend on exactly what it was that they took and how much.

Additionally, if some problem is found with certain pills, such as contamination, the FDA has to be able to know who manufactured them, so they can be removed from the market and the problem rectified.

THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. I SUSPECTED AS MUCH, ABOUT THE COST. BUT READ WHERE THERE CAN BE A 20% VARIATION
IN THE DIFFERENT GENERICS. AND WAS CONCERNED TO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE LUPIN VERSES THE TEVA BRAND AS THE TEVA DID AN EXCELLENT JOB IN KEEP MY B. P. UNDER CONTROL.

Marie, you are very welcome, I'm happy to help.

And yes, that is correct, there can be fluctuations between the generics and the name brand, they are allowed to differ in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. However, unless you are very sensitive to medications, you aren't very likely to experience a problem.

Some people are, so any fluctuation causes them problems, but that is a very low number of people.

However, if you do experience anything unusual, or elevated blood pressure, make sure to contact your doctor, so the problem can be rectified promptly.

Same here. My first set of pills where oblong & green, now they are large and off white. am experiencing diarrea a few hours after use as well as pain in both sides. I don't know if it is this pill or the combination of medications I am taking. When I was taking the green pill with the same meds, I did not get this reaction. What do you think?

I have the same issue with new pills. I have been unable to find a photo of the new ones I just got, white and oblong. I've seen white and oval but these are very oblong and not oval. I'm concerned that I got the wrong pills. Do Lupin pills have 'P 22' on one side?

Marti, yes, the tablets you have with the LU on one side and P22 on the other do contain 50mgs of Losartan and your description of their shape is also correct.

I do realize that some site use oval and oblong interchangeable and that isn't accurate, because it does describe a different shape. However, the identified that I am looking at does distinguish between them and actually describes this one as being capsule shaped to give a more accurate idea of what it looks like.


Boobless, even when it is the same medication, there can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient and many of the inactive one can be different, so that could explain why you are having some problems with it.

Has it improved, at all?

My "new" Losartan is white,oval and has LS-50 imprinted on it. Not thrilled w/ changing pharmacies but had to. I sound silly but am afraid to take it.I suffer from anxiety and have been taking my Metoprolol Tartrate twice daily.( I lost my job & insurance when my truck stopped working- can't afford to see my DR.) Is this new Losartan still the original I used to take? Thanks for any help-I'm having a panic attack now and ,of course, my B/P is high.

I recently began taking Losartan HCT 50 12 mg for my high blood pressure. My period was lighter. Is this normal? I have fibroids and am used to heavier periods.

My husband was taking the LUP version of Losartan 50 mg and was fine with it. Our pharmacy switched to the TEV version and it is giving him trouble. He is tired and feels stress more than usual. We heard that the LUP version is no longer available. Do you know if that is correct?

I've been given Tev after taking the Lup and my heart rate had been elevated aaaloot. Waking up pulse rate 110. 15 steps to my onsuite 99. When I was on the Lup brand no problem. I knew it had to be the meds because it happened to me before. They switched up my other med and I broke out with blisters. Told the pharmacist and the ordered the old brand. Sitting still pulse rate 90.

I just started taking Losartan 100-12.5 mg tabs about a month ago and also noticed that my period was lighter and took much longer to arrive. I also have very large fibroids so flooding is normal for me. The most distressing side effect for me is the dehydration. It totally dries me out. I keep drinking water and it's not enough. I'm also going to the restroom a lot. I think I'll discuss lowering the dosage with my doctor..

I just take 100mg only I have large fibroids too with heavy periods. Since Losartan Mt period comes whenever it wants sometimes it's Super heavy but usually lighter than normal
