Losartan 100mg + Hctz 12.5 + Amlodepine 5mg

Hi I am taking above dose of all 3 meds. and I'm suffering w/lot of side effects. But Dr. says there is NO WAY WHAT YOU SAY YOUR SIDE EFFECTS ARE DUE TO THEM IS TOTALLY NOT TRUE. How can I fight the Dr. All of the following started as soon as I was given all 3 meds simultaneously: Fatigue, Letahrgic, Tiredness, Cramps in feet day and night, Making lot of urine I go every hr of the hr., I'm off Salt diet, Rash and itching on hands, Arthritis in all joints causes excessive pain all the time, Unsteady on my feet, can not walk one block without feeling that I'm dragging my feet etc. and Much More. And Dr. says you have to bear and live w/whatever is happening to you because you want to lower your BP (which is down from 170 to 144 now, and does not budge any lower than this), I have just no energy. I was very active walking 1-2 miles daily and the exercise, now I don't have the strength. Any suggestion for me?

Why type of doctor are you seeing?

I highly suggest you try a new doctor, specifically a cardiologist.

The symptoms you're describing are most likely from dehydration. They HCTZ stands for Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic that removes excess fluid from the body, so it can cause dehydration, if you're also not replacing enough fluid to make up for what it is removing…. and making you urinate is how it removes fluid from the body.

And there are plenty of medications that can effectively lower your blood pressure that do not contain a diuretic.

Your doctor is basically looking at your high blood pressure and tossing pills. The worst part is most of these meds will cause other issues. If you are not over-weight and was jogging before then perhaps what you are dealing with is a nutritional problem. My blood pressure always tests higher in the Doctors office, get a home testing unit. I was taking higher amounts of what you are taking and I'm on the fence of reducing or stopping some. I've dropped 10 pounds not eating fast-food (Avoiding MSG and Wheat), No soda (High fructose intake is linked to high blood pressure), and walking 45 each day in the sun. Eat some fruit to replace Potassium lost from the HCTZ, Drink plenty of water with those meds. Try a Multivitamin hours after all the peeing from the meds. I've ran into issues with hives and low libido from depletion of Zinc and Folate on these meds. Try replace wheat pasta and rice with quinoa (quinoa seeds can reduce most of the adverse effects exerted by fructose). Above all try to stay positive, if they are only pushing pills then find another doctor. Good Luck!

Watch what you eat. Also, this drug needs to load and it takes time. Also, the urinating a lot is to eliminate the fluid that is trying to push through your heart. My Dr gave me the same things you are on. It's helping me but it takes time. You'll feel better. Just hang in there. Watch your sodium. That's a big one. I watched mine so closely that now it can go low. I think for me this combination of drugs works. It was painful at first but after some time I'm ok.
