Lo Loestrin Fe - Missed Periods (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe at the same time every day consistantly for two months with no period... is this normal?
Hello everyone! I've been taking the lo loestrin for two months now I take my pill everyday but not at the same time this, and yes I don't have protected sex with my husband but haven't gotten my period yet, I took a test it was negative I don't know if I should take another or just wait. Should I be worried since I don't take it at the same time everyday?
I missed my first week of pills due to my pharmacy running out of loestrin... I bled straight through the week so I had my period for 2 weeks at this point. I finally got my pills and bled for a few more days then it stopped. I am now on my last inactive pill and still no period? I have had unprotected sex a couple of times, but he never finishes inside of me. I waited until i was on the pill for a few days before unprotected sex as well. Is it very possible that I am pregnant or is my body just screwed up since i was off of the bc for so long???
I think just from the above comments there is a major issue that needs to be raised with this birth control pill. I have taken it and have not had a period for over 4 moths. It's very clear that doctors are not properly informing their patients that they can miss many many months (read post #13) of periods and still not be pregnant.
I also would be interested in someone stepping forward and explaining, in easy to understand terms, what (if any) long term studies have been done regarding the long term effects on having your period once every 6 months, versus once ever month. Ignoring the psychological impact (clearly shared by above commenters), what are the long term physical impacts to a my body by not having my period every month?
I started my first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe at the end of March. I got my period about 12 hours after taking the second white pill. It lasted for 4 days. Now I just finished my second pack, and no period. I have never missed a pill. The latest I have taken one was 45 minutes late. I have been reading that skipping periods is normal for this pill. It also says on their website that it is not uncommon to miss a period while on it. I'm not sure if I will like not having a period every month. Glad to know that I'm not alone in this.
No need to worry. I have been on Lo Loestrin for almost 3 years now and have not had my period since. My first month, I freaked out. Second month, went back to my gyn to switch pills because I was really worried. My Dr was shocked that a woman actually wants to have a period and also assured me that it is perfectly fine not to have a period and it is from the birth control pills. So I basically take a pregnancy test every couple of months just to be on the safe side.
But ladies, be aware, if u miss one pill u will immideatly begin to spot. Miss two pills and u might get your period.
Hey there, I've been on this BC for about 6 years now (I'm 23). I consistently do not have periods. It's totally normal on this pill. In two days it will be 6 months since my last period. However, I still get all the symptoms of a period (minus the bleeding) around the time I'm due. I am starting to get concerned though. It seems like such a great thing not to have to worry about your period, but how do you know if you're pregnant if you never have a period in the first place? It makes me extremely worried when I am sexually active since I never know, and BC isn't 100% effective, also I have a poor libido and sex is super painful. That said, it's been over a year with no sex and half a year with no period.
I have been on this pill for three years with no period. My gyno says this is common with women who take loestrin. So enjoy it. No more ruined pairs of panties or terrible cramps.... Its a blessing!
I've been Lo Loestrin Fe when I just turned 17 in high school. I am now 19 and a sophomore in college. I have never once gotten a period in all the time since then. Still have the same boyfriend and everything too lol. My doctor said as soon as I eventually stop taking it, I will get my period back. Yes I have taken a few pregnancy tests because I was bleeding...but later realized it was because I had gotten scratched on the inside of me during foreplay/sex... And soMetimes you get a fair amount of discharge but rest assured, it is all normal. But anyways, Hope this helps!!! :)
Has anyone experienced some mild mestrual cramps while on lo loestrim and no period? I took a pregnancy test at night time and was negative I'm planning to take another one first thing in the morning just to be sure. My first two packs I got a very lite brownish period and after that no period. Can someone reply and share if this has happened to you too. Thanks!
Kelsey, you're fine as long as you have taken your pills correctly. I have been on this pill for over two years now. The first time I missed a period it was only my second month on it. I freaked out and called the doctor, and she said it was completely normal. This pill has such a low dose of estrogen that in some women their periods will never come with perfect use. Now also keep in mind that when you are on the pill as long as you take it correctly you do not ovulate, therefore the period that you are getting is not a real period just your body shedding the lining of the uterus from the drop in hormones due to the placebo pills. As my endocrinology professor used to say "no egg, no baby". Now if you take a pill late or miss it then your window of safety decreases a bit and you should take a test. However, if after all this the thought of not getting a "period" is bothersome to you then I would suggest trying the loestrin. It has just a bit more estrogen to it and it should give you that "period" that you look for each month. Hopefully this helps you. :)
Hi everyone, just thought I'd put my 2 cents in. I've been on this pill for 3 years now. My dr put me on it because of my super heavy periods. Since I started taking it and my body has adjusted to the hormones (it'll take about a month, maybe 2!!) I haven't had a single period. Of course, we women freak out when we don't have a period and suddenly have breast pain, cramps, or nausea. This pill stops ovulation. But for good measure, I still take a pregnancy test every 4-6 months to ease my mind.
I love this pill. It hasn't made me moody and has completely stopped my ridiculously heavy flow.
Hope this helps!
Hey, so I'm greatful to see I'm not the only one going threw this. My boyfriend and I have literally lost our minds when I didn't get my period. I'm on my second pack and never missed a day or am late. Its my first time on BC and my first month. This seems to be quite normal?
I've been taking Lo Loestrin for a year now. I had a little spotting the first few months and now nothing! I've ask my gyno many times about it and he says it is completely normal for women, especially younger (I'm 21), to not get a period. I always had a light period on Yaz, but now with the switch I've seen none! Don't stress to much, it is apparently very common :) I have seen some more acne problems with the Lo Lo which I might ask about on my next visit.. but that's been all. Hope this helps!
I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 11 months for endometriosis. I don't take the last four pills of the pack by dr's request. I haven't had any side effects until now, about 10 hours after I take the pill I have migraines, they have been constant for about 3 weeks. Also, my boobs have grown a full cup size and are very sore. Not pregnant, already confirmed with a test. Does anyone else have side effects like these after being on Lo Loestrin FE this long?
Hi. I am a 27 year old healthy/ fit female who has never liked the idea of being on birth control pills because of bad reactions in the past... Such as crazy mood swings, chest pains, weight gain, etc... I went to my doctor and he talked me into trying Lo Loestrine Fe because it only has 2 hormones in it vs. all the other brands like Yaz which all have at least 5 or more. He said that it would take at least 3 months for my body to fully adjust to it, so i gave it a go. I have always had a relatively light periods lasting 5 days. First 2 days were of heavy bleeding and god awful cramping, 3rd day was "ghost period" where my period compleatly disappears for 24 hrs (weird, huh) and then light brown discharge the last 2 days. I always got bad PMS, bloating (to the point where my jeans wouldn't botton), extremely tender breasts (to the point where I couldn't jump) and cramps. Once I started this birth control, I experienced light brown discharge for two straight weeks within the first month and a one day period to follow... After that, I have yet to have a single period symptom, no PMS, no bloating, no mood swings (my BF loves it) no cramps, especially no soar boobs and to put the icing on the cake, no period!!! I have been on Lo Loestrine Fe for 6 months now and love it! I know the prescriptions are expensive, but it's well worth all this freedom in my opinion. At first I was worried that something was wrong with my missing periods but after wasting so much energy worrying and money on pregnancy tests, I just realized this pill was true and works. So I began to trust it. I'm no doctor by any means but I seriously wouldn't worry, and if you're just starting out on the pill, you have to understand that it takes time for it to harmonize itself to your natural body rhythm. You might get cramps and you might have spotting in the beginning, but the important thing to remember is to KEEP taking the pill and all those symptoms will melt away like a bad dream. I also want to note that the more on schedule you are about taking the pill everyday at the same time, the quicker your body will adjust and the better the pill will work. I hope this helps!
I have been taking lo loestrin for a little over a year now & I used to have a very light period for a couple days. I usually am pretty good about taking my pills every day. I recently though have not had a period at all with the past 2 packs of bc, and the last time I had sex (& used a condom) was on November 2 which is 5 1/2 almost 6 weeks ago. But these past 2 weeks I have been unusually tired & had bad headaches & have been havin some weird feelings in my stomach which is kind of freaking me out. I really don't think I could be pregnant but at the same time that's all I can think about! Ive taken 2 pregnancy tests since ive last had sec & they have both been negative...should I be worried?
hi i just started my 3 month pack of La Loestrin and i have such weird symptoms such as brown discharge and a little blood but close to none. i take my pill around 10 to 1am everynight is that too long to wait to take it? i havent taken a pregnancy test because we have been using protected sex until yesterday and today. what should i do?
