Lo Loestrin Fe And Continuous Bleeding (Page 4) (Top voted first)

I started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy!

I have the same problem. I had really heavy periods and now although light, I'm bleeding for 5 days every two weeks. I'm tried more and have back pain due to cramps. I spoke to my OB/Gyn and she switched me to the patch. I'm not happy with her giving me the patch, nor do I think the pill is working correctly. I'm going to a new doctor and if I were you I'd get a second opion too.

ha! so sad, but so true! been having heavy periods for awhile, got mirena... hoped it would stop but it didn;t really. then earlier this year it got progressively worse. heavy bleeding, cramps, clots - was bleeding 2xs as many days as not. US showed an area of "thickening", hysteroscopy to remove mirena and explore showed a polyp - not prepared to remove that so next hysteroscopy to remove polyp' which turned out to be a pretty big fibroid. 6 wks later, go back for essure. got put on lo loestrin fe for the 3 month waiting period. Thinking I will finally get some relief as I have always had great experiences on Loestrin Fe. Not so much, bleeding for 2 weeks straight on first pack, same thing now on second. Can't wait to be done with this & try to get my system back to a baseline.

I have the same problem. .heavy bleeding bad cramps back pain bleeding for 20 days...light to very heavy. I started taking them on Nov 22 2016...I'm 50 yrs old maybe it's my system that's not right....but I'm not continuing this med it's making me worse than I was.

I have been on this for a month now because I have pcos and I have had my period for two weeks going on three weeks. Does anyone know when this will stop and I will have a normal period?

I started taking these pills when my period ended on the 24 per doctor’s instructions. I experienced unbearable headaches and chest pains , so bad that I was in tears after only taking it for 9 days so I have discontinued use as of the 2nd. I started bleeding on the 1st of April and it will NOT stop. Its heavier than any period I have ever had. Please don’t take these pills

I have been on that pill for about 8 months for hormones. The first two months were great, very short period. The third month my period that lasted two weeks. Since then I'll have a period one month and not the next. This month I started bleeding mid-pack and it's been 10 days now. Normal light period at the start now it's bright and heavier. I'm calling the Dr in the morning. I thought I would wait it out, but I can't stand this.

okay so while i am not happy that the bleeding/spotting is normal on the lo estrin fe, i AM however happy to know i am not alone. i had my baby 11 months ago and...long story short, the reason i am on bcp's is that when i exercise i have minimal spotting. therefore i had the gamut of testing done and had an endo-biopsy that came back normal so my gyn. wanted me to start bcp's to "regulate" everything. now, while i am not really thinking i need bcp's because the spotting IS only like 1 spot after i exercise, i AM willing to give it a try to see if it regulates everything, although i had normal periods and no other abnormal spotting to begin with...but we'll see! SO i have been on the bcp's for almost 3 weeks and I too have been spotting/bleeding since the first week in. AND it is NOT FUN...constant pads, tampons...ICK. it kinda puts a BIG damper on me feeling sexy and intimate with my husband because i am constantly bleeding...my skin is breaking out, i feel bloated and have put on 3 lbs. I have cramping, feel irritable...oh the JOYS! i am not sure what to expect with my actual period! I am willing to give this a 3 month go and see what happens (I'll go back to my gyn then for an eval)...but hopefully all this will regulate and I will stop having all the spotting and feel a MILLION times better!

Oh my gosh, LP, I could have written this almost exactly word for word!! I'm also 42, started spotting on 6/25, started taking Loestrin 24 on Sunday the 26th and since then I have had non stop heavy bleeding. This is day 6 of extremely heavy bleeding. The dr. put me on this to control my heavy periods and this is just making it way worse. My heavy periods only lasted 5 days. Now day 10 of bleeding/spotting and I am ready to scream.

I share all your pain as I have been sufferring for months,. This bleading has caused me to get vulvar pain that is debilitating. Dr switched me to day to Ortho Novum 1/35.thinking that a higher dose would stop my period and allow me to heal. I look forward to sending you a good report.. Lo Loetrin is too mild for most of the population and doctors keep pushing them because they get incentives for pushing certain meds. Don;t be fooled by the fancy prescriptipons - ask for the generic and make sure the dosage is high enough.

I started taking lo loestrin about 4 months ago. I was on the regular version loestrin for about 2 years. While on the regular loestrin BC i never got my period and just wanted to be safe and know i wasnt pregnant every month so i switched to a lower estrogen pill which of course had to be lo-loestrin. I am so sad to say i made this decision. I have been spotting almost every month and this month (pill pack 4) I have been non stop bleeding and cramps for about 2 weeks now and heavy as ever :( its driving me insane and definetly going to switch back to my regular version of this pill. Never going back to this disaster ever again!!! PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND DON'T EVEN TRY THIS PILL.

I have been on Lo Loestrin for a month and a half. My cycle came and it lasted 7 days. Mine usually lasts 4 days. Aug. 14th was the last day of my cycle and on the 22nd of Aug...I started bleeding again! I'm highly pissed. I take the pills for fibroids but I'm thinkin the surgery would have been a better idea. This is stupid. My sex life is being affected and I really don't know how long I can deal with that. I have no energy, zero tolerance and have been tired like I work in a factory or something. I wish someone had a remedy to stop the bleeding immediately! The good thing is I'm not alone but that's also the sad thing..hope you guys get some relief soon. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I had been getting my period every two weeks for a couple of years when I finally decided to go to the gynecologist. They gave me this pill and had me start it August 14th. Exactly one week later I was spotting just a bit. The next day I began an extremely heavy period with horrible cramps that lasted for a week. For the next week it's been mostly dry blood with some occasional red blood. I had terrible mood swings, really tender breasts, I was constantly tired, and my hair even started falling out! After nearly three weeks I decided I was done with this. I stopped taking the pill Friday and it is now Saturday. Does anyone know how long it will take for this bleeding to stop?! It is KILLING my sex life! Before this my fiancé and I were very active and this is just not working. :(

Wish i would've read all these sooner thats for sure. I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe 1 month ago and havent stopped bleeding since just like most of you. I've been crying and getting angry on and off in just a matter of seconds.. the cramps are so bad i can barley walk sometimes. I would never recommend this BCP to ANYONE. and today i did not take my pill and do not plan on taking it again. hopefully ill be back to myself.

As for lo loestroven. I spotted the entire second month, felt sick every day several hours after taking it and worse, when I get to the estrogen only pills ( white ) I get horribly sick. Nauseous, headaches, anxiety through the roof , my "period" never actually comes. Just stopping constantly., my body feels like it has gone crazy. The word would be scizofrentic. Valium helps very little in this case. Using this for perimenopause,solved my thick lining in two months,
but never stopped my ovulation - like it is suppose to, this was confirmed by ultrasound. Constantly feel out of
sync. Like the pills is behind what my body wants. Really tired of the obgyn trying to put me in a box. Thinking if stopping completely, but nervous about the peri anxiety that existed previously. Oh, also always tired on the stuff.

I have been researching hysterectomies because I thought I was dying until I found this forum today! I started taking loestrin in June until July and was bleeding/spotting almost daily. I got really sick of it so I stopped taking it. Well since I have been off of it I am STILL bleeding. I have seriously been bleeding every day for a month or more. I have made an appointment with my doctor for Thursday because I can't take it anymore! I also get cramps daily like clock work around 1pm its really weird and there is DEFINATELY something wrong with this pill as I have never had this problem or period problems before.

I was told to start taking Loestrin 24 at the first sign of my period. I did and had a light 4 day period and was really excited. THEN, I started bleeding again 4 days later and it has not stopped. I am now on day 9 of bleeding that is becoming progressively heavier. So out of the 17 days on this pill, I've been bleeding for 13 of them. I highly upset because I started BC to make my periods shorter and lighter and now I'm constantly bleeding. I really wished I read this before I started. I think I'll stick it our through the first pack, but I cannot imagine continuously bleeing for another 10/11 days.

Well I'm almost done with my second pack of these pills in hoping the first month was the "just getting used to being back on birth control." The second month was a little bit better. But I still get depressed and emotional a lot. I am not sure if its postpartum depression after birth or actually depression. Anyone else suffering from this? If so, have you gone or talk to your doctor?
