Lo Loestrin Fe And Continuous Bleeding (Page 14)
UpdatedI started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy!
Hey ladies.
I'm on lo loestrin I'm at the end of my second pack so I've been on it for pretty much 2 months now. I've had SIX periods since I started taking them. I'll have bleeding for 5 to 6 days then it stops and comes back... I don't think this is normal. Also I have worse mood swings. My boons hurt no stop they're so sore and I have leg cramps. My period cramps are so much worse to. My doctor put me on it for pcos... but I can't handle all this. Anyone else have thus problem?
Been on loestrin fe for last couple months..first time am having nonstop bleeding..have fibroids, cysts..reason why I was put on it because of heavy cycle..worked well at first until now...second week od bleeding frustrated already since am already anemic..help!!!!!
Ive been on it for 3+ months. my doctor put me on this to help stop my extremely heavy periods. I was anemic, and bleeding sometimes 16 days in a row. and bleeding almost 200ml a day ( a normal period is 80mls, for the entire period)
On this pill my period happens every other week at first it was lighter so that was good, I could finally go about my day but now its back to the way it was. extremely heavy and long. I am now anemic again and extremely drained feeling and cant go about my day as usual anymore. I fewel that my doctor is incompetent, as when I was trying to re-explain my symptoms to him he claimed that the amount I am bleeding is subjective. He kept repeating this, and talking over me. He kept saying that the amount a woman bleeds is personal?! Sure in most instances, but when you bleed as much as I am it's a medical issue, not a personal issue. I really advise against using loestrin if you have extremely heavy and long periods.
I started taking Lo Loestrin on March 20, over a week after starting my previous period. This was my first time going on birth control after 5 years of not taking anything and my gyno suggested I begin that next Sunday after seeing her and getting the pills. I have experienced some minor moodiness and headaches but it seems to be improving some things too. After taking my first white pill last night I started my period today (I still had 1 white and 2 brown pills to take before finishing the pack) and at first it was dark brown blood and very light. I cramped all afternoon and into the evening. The cramps got worse in the evening. I didn't take any pain medication but they finally subsided around 9:00 and after I took a hot shower. Then around 10:45 I passed a huge clump of blood with what looked like a fair amount of tissue too. It was probably the size of a donut hole and a half, maybe 2, and it came out all at once. I feel fine and am still bleeding some as if continuing a normal period. Should I be concerned about that large clump? I have usually passed small clumps each time throughout the days of my cycle but never anything of that size all at once. :-(
I have the same problem. I had really heavy periods and now although light, I'm bleeding for 5 days every two weeks. I'm tried more and have back pain due to cramps. I spoke to my OB/Gyn and she switched me to the patch. I'm not happy with her giving me the patch, nor do I think the pill is working correctly. I'm going to a new doctor and if I were you I'd get a second opion too.
I'm having the same problem. Been on lo loestein feel since the first day of my period. I'm aking them exactly right. I've been bleeding for 14 days straight. Started out as spotting and light bleeding but the past 4 days are extremely heavy & clotty. I have to sleep on towels because I soak through my clothes. Horrible period cramps. The past few days the nausea has turned to constant watery diarrhea. I'm so fed up with this pill but my husband, mom and doctor says my body just has to get used to it and to wait three months. If this doesn't let up i'm afraid i will end up in the hospital! I dont understand how this bc pill is even on the market. It is making my life so miserable. I'm stuck on the couch just so sick. My hopes were high.for this.med because it was supposed my make my cycles less heavy. I'm continuing to take them and just hope my dr knows what she is doing. Feels like my life.has just stopped since.starting this med.
Same thing is happening to me I called my doctor and they said your body needs to get use to it but I prefer to go back to my heavy cycle for 5 days then this crazy mess
It is a relief to see others have had the same experience. This pill is ruining my libido and it's been the worst month I've physically had in years. Did your symptoms subside eventually?
ha! so sad, but so true! been having heavy periods for awhile, got mirena... hoped it would stop but it didn;t really. then earlier this year it got progressively worse. heavy bleeding, cramps, clots - was bleeding 2xs as many days as not. US showed an area of "thickening", hysteroscopy to remove mirena and explore showed a polyp - not prepared to remove that so next hysteroscopy to remove polyp' which turned out to be a pretty big fibroid. 6 wks later, go back for essure. got put on lo loestrin fe for the 3 month waiting period. Thinking I will finally get some relief as I have always had great experiences on Loestrin Fe. Not so much, bleeding for 2 weeks straight on first pack, same thing now on second. Can't wait to be done with this & try to get my system back to a baseline.
I have the same problem. .heavy bleeding bad cramps back pain bleeding for 20 days...light to very heavy. I started taking them on Nov 22 2016...I'm 50 yrs old maybe it's my system that's not right....but I'm not continuing this med it's making me worse than I was.
Hello third month on loestrin fe birth control and still on the blue pills and cycle started heavy and not time for cycle
Me too!!! I'm thinking of stopping. This is stupid.
Hello! So I was put on this hormone pill (lo loestrin fe) because I had consistent heavy bleeding for a month, once I took the pill my pd. stopped and my doctor told me after I finished the hormone pill & started taking the b/c on the following sunday and I will start my cycle again and then it should be regular/no period. Well....I started taking the b/c pill and I had little cramping, severe bloating but no bleeding, but as I started taking the pill I have heavy bleeding and bad cramping and I just don't won't to take this anymore...I was fine before this random bleeding but it's been a long time since I've been curled up in the bed crying! Is this normal? Should I continue to take this? Every birth control I've been on never worked for me physically...
I'm glad I'm not the only one. The first month I tried these pills was August. I did fine. I skipped just one pill 4 days ago and been having heavy bleeding since then. Next week is suppose to be when I start. I guess I have two this month. So far haven't had headaches and less pain. Now this. I also been nauseous. It seems like when something helps another thing happens. I will give it another month also to the dr again.
Re: Bee129 (# 257)
I am currently having this issue! I have been on the pill a few years but was recently on an antibiotic and dr said that could be what brought this on! I haven't had a period in years! Now Abdominal pain and bright red blood!
Re: Lauren (# 261)
{edited for privacy}. I have recently been diagnosed with pcos, too, and have been placed on lo loestrin... I will get hopes and indications that i will be off the cycle, but then the next day i'm extremely bright red and heavy. it's stressful, and taking a toll on me. My mood swings, bloating, and cramps are getting worse. I can't get used to this and i don't know if I want to wait until my body does. I would love to hear any other options you may have sought or anything else you have done considering you and i have very similar reasons, diagnosis, etc.
I was put on Lo Loestrin in July for pcos and constant cysts.... it’s now December and I’ve been on my period or spotting every single day. Anyone else having issues this constant and plainly frustrating? Also, I keep thinking my body will adjust, but it’s been 5 months. I’m 26 by the way.
I have been on this for a month now because I have pcos and I have had my period for two weeks going on three weeks. Does anyone know when this will stop and I will have a normal period?
I have pcos and my dr recommended starting this when we needed to take a break from fertility treatments. I have been bleeding for a month straight along with the worst cramps, nausea, bloating, and mood swings I have ever experienced. My dr said it can take 3-6 months to adjust but I am not putting up with this. I have been through 6 IUI cycles and those were less physically taxing on me than being on this pill for 2 months. I honestly can’t believe this pill is recommended to anyone, and in my case, with no mention of the possible side effects.
Same here been bleeding daily since Dec 23 .... about to give up this sucks!
