The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, and increased urination. Ahh, what are the changes you are seeing? Are you on any other medications?
Just took my 1st dose ever of Lisinopril and first noticed feet itching. Have slight itch all over. I'm not taking another dose reading here. Plus some of these people, maybe they should know about "toxic epidermal necrolysis" ? even a 10 in a million chance after viewing that disease, I wouldn't take anything that could cause it. ## There are risks associated with every medication, though some can be frightening, it is just the nature of adding a chemical to the body to try and correct a problem. You will not find any medication that is entirely risk free. The typical side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, hypotension, and headache. Toxic epidermal necrolysis is a risk with most medications, and some medical proc...
My husband checks his bp daily and when it is in normal range 120/70 he doesn't take his lisinopril (5mg), however when it creeps up (about every 3rd day) he takes one. Is this safe? ## Hello, Terry! How are you? No, this medication doesn't work fast enough to be taken only when his blood pressure is showing an elevation. To have its full beneficial effect in the body, it needs to be taken consistently, as prescribed by his doctor. He might actually have himself in a rebound cycle by taking it this way, a rebound effect, which can include elevated blood pressure and heart rate, occurs due to a sudden withdrawal from such medications, but the issue is that at some point, he might hit dangerous levels that could lead to a heart attack or stroke. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that...
Someone told me this is made from snake venom, is that true? Is that how the blood pressure is reduced? ## Hi Gabby, This is an interesting question that I would like to find out more information on as well... Based on my research, Lisinopril is reportedly a "synthetic peptide derivative" - which from what I understand, has the properties of a long-acting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It's chemical description is listed as follows: (S)-1-[N2-(1-carboxy-3-phenylpropyl)-L-lysyl]-L-proline dihydrate If you have a specific drug manufacturer in mind who makes Lisinopril or other blood pressure medications, perhaps it would be best to contact them directly for more specific details. I hope this helps! ## Is Lisinopril made from snake venom? I have been told that t...
Can you take more than 80 mg of Lisinopril in one day? Just curious, to know if there is a higher dosage than 80 mg? ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? While some patients have shown a better response to 80mg dosages, the maximum recommended daily dose is usually only 40mgs, because there is limited data available on the 80mg doses and no, it is not considered safe in doses higher than 80mgs. Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, frequent urination and stomach pain. What condition is being treated? ## I am on 80 mg but weaning off. Ask your Dr about a diuretic if your BP is still high. Mine was 160/105 for 9 mos. My other Dr put me on diuretic and is is n...
dizziness, lightheaded, fatigue, diarrhea, sleepy ## Yes, those can all be side effects of Lisinopril with Hydrochlorthiazide, which is commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions. Another thing that you do have to be careful of is dehydration, since the Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps remove fluid from the body. Most of the symptoms you mentioned can also be from dehydration, so you have to make sure you are taking in enough fluids to keep your body balanced out. More details: Are there any other questions? ## I started this medication less than a month ago and since then I noticed the fatigue and a pressure around the back of my head at about ear level. I went to my doctor because i thought my blood pressure was too low one day (109/63). They said It...
Hello, I've taken lisinopril 5 mg x 1 daily for a few years, as I have 1 kidney. I've also taken atenolol 50 mg x1. My blood pressure has always been good at 120/80 or less. Last week the numbers jumped to 170/101 and higher, as I was told to increase lisinopril to 20 mg and atenolol to 50 x2. Blood pressure was still high 150's/ 99. Kidney doc put me own losatran 50 mg x 2 three days ago. I stopped the lisinopril. Blood pressure was still high 169/104 today. I have diabetes also. My kidney doc says: all my blood work is good, ekg good, cat scan of head good. Any suggestion on the sudden jump in blood pressure? I'm very concerned why the sudden jump, almost like someone thru a switch. Where do we check next? Also, I'm a 70 year old male. Thanks. ## Hello, Ken! How ar...

A.C.E. ## My Lisonpril from a local pharmacy was a triangle shaped one and I seemed to do well on it for 14 months. I then order them through Aetna RX and they sent a white, round pill and have been experiencing problems with bp & Heart rate too high. Could the difference in the pill be the problem? ## My Pharmacy switched me too, from a triangular pill to a round pink one. I'm having problems with sore legs, stomach cramps, tight jaw, higher blood pressure, sore forearms. I'm going back today to see if I can get it changed back. ## I experienced the same symptoms that you did i ...i dont like the way the pink lisinopril work i would perfer the white ones..im over this blood pressure ## We are all different, so any given generic may work different for each of us. How are you...
what are the side effects of lupin, 20 mg ## How do we administer these pills & what are the possible side effects? How long can it be used? ## I've been taken Lisinopril 20 -12.5 mg twice a day. I noticed on my refill bottle it says Lisinopril 20 mg twice a day. Do I cut them in half? Will this mg cause my heart rate to to be faster and blood pressure to be higher? I have a 75% per. in my heart now. Do I call the doctor? ## Lisinopril is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Lou, if it says to take it twice a day, that would mean you should take a full tablet twice a day, but it is always best to check with you...
I've been on Lisinopril for almost 10 years. Started out taking 10 mg along with baby aspirin once a day. Im now on 20 mg once a day. Last year I got pancreatitis and am now diabetic due to my pancreas being inflamed. I believe it's from the Lisinopril and metabolism booster I was taking. I had another pancreas attack last Saturday but am feeling much better now. I'm not a drinker and there's nothing wrong with my gall bladder. I'm gonna try the mash diet but I'm scared going cold turkey on the Lisinopril, yet I don't want it hurting me anymore. What should I do? ## Sorry bout that. I read what I wrote. It's not the mash diet. It's called dash diet. Dietary approaches to stop hypertension ## Hello, Cheri! How are you feeling? Going off such a medicati...
I'm a 51 yr. old female who woke up on April 7, 2011, with an extremely salty taste in my mouth. When I tried to drink water to wash it out, it was like drinking salt gargle water. Nothing I eat or drink makes it go away. I can't stand to put anything in my mouth that is salty because the salt taste already in my mouth makes it almost unswallowable. Prior to that day, I have only 2 regular medications that I take daily: Lisinopril 40 mg( increased from 20 mg in mid November) for high BPas well as HCTZ 25 mg(been taking Lisinopril for 8 years) and 1mg of ropinorole(generic for Requip) for RLS (taking for almost 6 years). I also take black cohosh twice a day for hot flashes and night sweats(last menstrual cycle was Sept. 2010). On March 18, I started taking a 10 day prescription f...
I take lisinopril and wanted to know if there is any difference between taking either the zestril or prinivil? I am talking about differences besides the actual way the pill looks, relating more to how you feel on either of them or side effect related..... ## I am curious too. I have taken lisinopril for years and never known it to have another name on my bottle. My bp was awesome. Now all the sudden it says generic for prinovil and It doesn't seem to work at all. I think the zesteril has the hydroclorothyazide added and its a small diueretic and makes you pee more. I took the HCTZ alone before and it made me feel like I always had a uti. burning sensation. IDK to tell my doctor to up dosage or what since it doesn't seem like its working. ## What does lisinopril help me in my he...
Seems no matter what I do I can't remove my weight since my heart attack. I'm taking 5 mg Lisinopril and 25mg Metoprolol. I always could take charge of my weight and now nothing works. ## Most blood pressure and cardiac medications can cause weight gain, according to FDA reports, and yes, you may not be able to lose it, while taking them. Have you consulted your doctor? You might need to try different medications. How much have you gained?
Why does my blood pressure med RAISE my blood pressure? I've been switched to this pink round version of the pill since I returned to NJ from HI. Is it that the brand is bad? ## How high has it been going up? What times of day are you checking? Has it been after you've eaten, or engaged in activity? This tablet is manufactured by Lupin Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide and 20mgs of Lisinopril. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Did you still take your medication while on vacation?
I am taking 20mg of Lisinopril per day. However, I am on a diet and with the reduced amount of food I eat the Lisinopril upsets my stomach. Is there a time-release form of the 20 mg Lisinopril pill? ## Hello, Tom! How are you? Have you tried making sure to take it with a meal and not on an empty stomach? That can often mitigate the nausea. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. What do you usually take it with?
I found them in my uncle's room and he has had drug problems in the past. Please help me identify these. ## From what I can find, these tablets are manufactured by BluePoint Laboratories and they list them as containing 10mgs of Lisinopril, they are most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
I wanted to know if these medicine s ,have side effects with harvoni ## I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between the Suboxone, Lisinopril and Harvoni, though it's always best to double check to be sure. However, I cannot check nerve medications in general. Can you please post back with the specific medication you take? The FDA warns that Suboxone carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. ## The nerve medication is called coladapin ## I was on 8mg suboxone 1 to 2 mg attivan and Zoloft 150 a day when I took zepatier for hcv zepatier is like harovini and I had no problems at all except bad weight gain but that could b from the cirrhosis not really sure does your infectious di...
I too just received the refill for my Mom's 10 mg Lisinopril tabs from Lupin Pharmacy, and have discovered they are half the size of the ones she has been taking for years. She is 93 years old, is very feeble, and uses a walker to get around. I am extremely concerned about whether or not to give her these new pills as I have read all the side effects people are experiencing. If she was to get dizzy or lightheaded the results could be disastrous. Does anyone have an alternative to this brand that may still be the same as the old larger Lisinopril tabs? Help ## What are the markings on them? The size of the tablets are irrelevant, what matters is her receiving the correct dosage, so they are effective. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, head...
I have taken lisinolpril for over a year and my BP just keeps going up and down. I have learned there are many items we drink and eat that interact with lisinolpril. Like vitamins, sleeping aides like melatonin, potassium (potassium is in a lot of vitamins and other drinks and foods) apple cider vinegar, the list is long, read your labels. I want to ask my Dr to change me to something else, can anyone advise? ## Hello Charlotte! How are you? How extreme are the fluctuations that you've been experiencing? Your blood pressure will never hit one steady reading and stay there, it will always fluctuate, depending on the time of day you check, what you eat, what you drink, your activity levels, and etc. For example, when you are more active, it should naturally increase, when you are idle...
